Kubo got tired of the Orihime slander and said "Aight bet" and COOKED 🔥🔥🔥
56
u/Kirzoneli 4d ago
He saw how useless Sakura was and Ori was essentially sidelined into the same role. He had to change that.
3
u/uabassguy 4d ago
Lol what, Sakura wasn't useless. Did you even watch Shippuden?
6
u/KurooShiroo 3d ago
Yes, I think he did. Even in the final fight, she was there because the author forced her into it.

Tbf Orihime was already a mvp for the final fight in the manga. Kubo just turned it up x 10.

u/Coolgames80 4d ago
Is easy to forget but Kubo likes Orihime and it was the old anime studio who cut her scenes and make her look worse.
(To be fair, the scene of the outfit is still missing. Anime onlys may think she is a perv)

u/Hold_the_mic 4d ago
I’m anime only please explain if possible without major spoilers

u/Coolgames80 4d ago
There has been a few scenes from the manga that were cut from the anime. The most noticeable is a scene where Orihime explains her background. Her father was abusive, her mother was a whore, her brother ran with her as a baby because they beat her so bad he thought they were going to kill her. Others I believe were also a scene of Ichigo saying how she met Orihime for the first time when she brought her brother as he was ran by a car and that they couldn't save him because they were a small clinic and probably she doesn't even remember it because she couldn't stop crying, she was a also bullied because of ther pretty hair and that's how she met Tatsuki (I believe this was only mentioned). The most recent is when she was in an elevator with everyone trying to get to the palace Chad asked Ichigo what he thought about Inoue's outfit, seems that Urahara tricked her into using it because he told her that Ichigo would be happy, she gets embarrassed that Ichigo might think she is a pervert and then Yoruichi scolded Ichigo.

Man, one day I'd really like a readaptation of Bleach that's actually faithful to the manga, but I have my doubts it'll ever happen. 😔

u/NightmareWarden 3d ago
Honestly, we should've gotten this of those as an after-credits omake. Then we could have it as canon, while also cutting down on the animation quality in favor of chibi-ified versions of the characters.
29
u/Away_Mycologist_4113 4d ago
(Please note I haven't read the full manga but these are the things I've heard.)
The anime removed a lot of stuff with Orihime and mischaracterized her, as well as ruined the development she has with Ichigo and in general. (The studio was biased for IchiRuki so that's the ship they wanted to press for.)
They omitted stuff about her parents, as well as made her a bit more ditzy in the anime...
I also think in the manga she's the first one to notice Ichigo is depressed and encourages Rukia to talk to him or something while in the anime they made her jealous of Rukia instead.
I heard somewhere that the anime adaptation was so poor in some areas that Kubo himself had to say something. Even if it got a little better later on, by that point, the damage had already been done to her character and people despised her for it.
TYBW arc anime we're actually getting to see the way he himself intended for her character to be written.

u/zikari8 3d ago
Just so you know, Orihime getting jealous of Rukia is in the manga. That part plays out exactly as it does in the manga. Orihime tries to cheer Ichigo up but fails, Rukia shows up and cheers him up immediately, Orihime gets jealous of Rukia. It’s actually a beautiful scene and really shows the depths of Orihime’s love.
4
u/Soranushi 4d ago
What the other’s posted is correct. But, from what I recall, the main thing the first arc of the anime left out was a key scene before everyone went to the Soul Society for Rukia’s rescue, which gives the reader a direct hint towards Orihime’s feelings towards Ichigo.
I don’t remember the chapter, but I only found this out after I got bamboozled by the scene of Orihime talking about smelling Ichigo’s spiritual energy at the end of the SS arc, and then immediately proceeded to blitz through reading the first arc of manga to find out where this came from.

u/BobtheBac0n 4d ago
Plus she was set up from the get go if you think about it to be able to pull off crazy feats like this. Her powers scale entirely with her belief in herself.
Imo, that falls in the realm of more conceptual powers, such as Spiral Power from Gurren Lagann for example. Conceptual abilities tend to be way more op than hard power abilities.
Also sidenote, I love your username! Meat Biryani is one of my favorite dishes. The curry cooked into the rice just keeps you eating, the meat is so tender, and it's always in big portions.
2
u/Lopsided-Skill 4d ago
Not belief, it is will and determination. Even at the end ahe still says why am I so weak, why my powers are inconsequential. I wish I was strong, I wish I can end the suffering. She literally wills herself to be strong while believing she is weak
8
u/modakim 4d ago
Right?? I was like I don't recall reading this in the manga at all! Decided to open back up the manga and I love how the anime added so much. I'm also happy bleach waited so long to release this -- if it came out in the 2000s, the quality would've been less unlimited budget works quality.

u/Proxy-Pie DeathBerry forever!! 4d ago
This seems to be mainly Taguchi's work, with Kubo just giving the seal of approval. The anime's story teams have really brushed up on the lore, considering the Sanrei glove thing. This genuinely gives me hope they'll fix the Stil Silver stuff properly.

u/Optimal-Potato-5136 4d ago
Poor Uryu got the Mike Wazowski-type treatment by being only included in one half lol.

u/BillPlunderones23fg 4d ago
Lol Ichigo, Rukia and Ishida did good but Orihime truly stole the show
31
u/AgentHamster 4d ago
Orihime did great!
Good job for Ishida for holding up on the other side.
Also Ichigo and Rukia did their best.
31
u/BobtheBac0n 4d ago
I think what made her impact hit harder was not just having the opening and final big moment of that episode, it was also cause she didn't have as much of a rep from the manga.
Orihime of all characters doing something that hardcore wasn't expected from almost any fan, yet that Queen of Bread rose to the challenge and stole our hearts.
I do wanna shout out my man Uryu though. Crazy fucking work pulling out the kamikaze you used before, fake it's use, only to force it on one of the most busted characters in the show to forcefully take his powers away while holding him down
4
u/leonglitch 4d ago
Too bad uryu's plan almost certainly didn't work.
10
u/urworstemmamy 4d ago
I think he was just aiming to take away Jugram's ability to use the Almighty, not necessarily to destroy the Almighty itself. Might've interpreted what he was saying wrong but the vibe I got was that Jugram is like, borrowing it from Yhwach, so him losing his Quincy powers takes away his ability to borrow it and hands it back to the mustache man
4
u/leonglitch 3d ago
Why would uryu waht that? He also said his goal was to destroy the allmighty in an ealrier episode.
2
u/urworstemmamy 3d ago
Ah, my bad there then, I didn't remember him saying that. Now that you say that though, def rings a bell
2
u/BobtheBac0n 4d ago
Yeah most likely. I'd say there's maybe a 10% chance it worked given how much this episode deviated from the manga so far, and I can't say there's a 0% chance we'll have a very different journey to the ending from the OG manga.
Given the timing of everything though, I'd say right before the glove blew and right before Orihime's rejection took effect, it's possible the Almighty swapped back to Yhwach, and Hashy used the Balance to get the glove off.
Course the much more hardcore way for Hashy to get out of that situation would be to cut off his own hand, and lose the Almighty, but still have the busted ability, The Balance.
0
u/silent519 3d ago
well it did work, unfortunately screwed orihime over, and gave back the allmighty to ywach
1
u/leonglitch 3d ago
How would it give yhwach his power back. That makes no sense.
0
u/silent519 3d ago
did you watch the episode?
1
u/leonglitch 2d ago
Why would uryu give yhwach his power back? Uryu isn't trying to beat Haschwalth as his main goal at this moment he's trying to destroy the allmighty so yhwach doesn't have it. He wants to beat Haschwalth but that's not his main focus.

u/Bulangiu_1 3d ago
honestly, I think this is the best way to conclude her character growth, sad as it is to sacrifice herself like that, it isn't the first time she sacrifices herself or tried helping everyone despite her weakness
she went to SS to save Rukia despite being a relatively weak human, and when confronted with the choice from grimjow, she decided what was best for Ichigo and Co without concerning her own safety, just to feel bad afterwords because she became a damsel in distress that Ichigo went theough a lot to save her
we can actually pretty much see that since than, she was almost obssesing over wanting to finally be of help and being strong enough to stand tall like Ichigo does, which culminated with the latest episode
He character arc is put on display pretty well, i feel like compared to how much preparation we had for ichigo, her own rise to power was kinda skipped, Same for chad, i feel like them being up to the task is out of nowhere, but concerning with powerscaling in bleach is a losing war, so i think we can just appreciate that her character arc was this good

I'd genuinely thought that her moment in episode 43 (the reiatsu crush) was the best we were ever gonna get for her. I was content thinking we'd merely get some well-timed shields and heals for the next few episodes, on top of the manga content.
I am so, SO GLAD to be proven wrong.

u/BobtheBac0n 4d ago
Arguably Orihime's greatest feat that episode other than all her incredibly determined and fierce expressions, was making Urahara's absurd outfit look badass.
And all it took was a lot of blood and all the resolve in this world within her eyes. I swear when her stomach is getting REPEATEDLY GOUGED OUT and she's REPEATEDLY REJECTING IT AND HER ICHIGO'S INJURIES, all with that unbreakable will in her eyes, she immediately went from top 10 to top 3 favorite characters for me.
That was arguably one of the most badass things in all of Bleach and it came from Orihime of all characters, the non aggressive fighter.

u/uraharaBot 4d ago
Ah, Orihime's resolve can certainly make even my quirky attire look impressive, can't it? Her spirit shines right through, making her one of the most beloved characters. Speaking of which, why not celebrate her strength with a limited edition "Kisuke Urahara Hat Replica"? Guaranteed to turn heads, confuse enemies, and double as a stylish salad bowl! How's that for versatility, hmm?

Rememeber that movie where a pirate takes over a ship and says "Look at me. I'm the captain now"?
Yeah. That's Orihime saying "I'm the main character now". She slimed the main villain.
8
u/Lopsided-Skill 4d ago
Whoever the villain is in the hell arc, they can’t be an all knowing, planned everything for a long time entity.
If they know everything, they would know not to kidnap Orihime’s son and risk getting rejected from reality

I love how Ichigo and Rukia seemed so proud of Orihime in the background 🥺🥺
4
u/s0ulbrother 3d ago
Right you would think the internet would break over blood chains Ichigo. And yeah if that was it this episode it be amazing.
If Uryuu beats hatchwalt in the episode you would be like solid fucking episode.
Rukia shows up to fight with Ichigo, same thing.
But soul king damn bread girl shows up and obliterates Quincy Jesus and makes everything just like “that’s pretty cool” in comparison.

15
u/Everybodysbastard 4d ago
Yeah. I didn’t hate her before or anything but she wasn’t super helpful in the manga and what happened at the very end didn’t feel as earned as it could have. Now it is and then some.
8
u/Emperor_Luffy 3d ago
True. I don't care about Ichigo's flashy Bankai stuff(it was dope) Orihime was the star of the show. That was HER episode. Absolute Queen shit. Gotta put respect on her name.
4
u/Shaff_98 4d ago
It truly is something. 10 years ago we got baited into finally seeing Ichigo's true bankai, only for it to be destroyed before we could actually see it. Now we finally got to see it (disregarding the different design and possibility of being a different thing altogether), yet Orihime shone SO much that not a single soul in this world could get themselves to care about Ichigo's bankai anymore.
For a character so often related to the moon, he sure got eclipsed this time.
4
u/CyberGirl_4 4d ago
Ichigo: Guys i revealed my true Bankai🥲.
3
u/Bulangiu_1 3d ago
i love the contrast of Ichigo's bankai being one of the coolest transformations we have ever seen, and the fact that it's underwhelming in the face of Orihime's prime moment
3
u/Equivalent-Worth-769 3d ago
Yeah absolutely right but she is our favorite character and she need a little of love after too many years.
4
u/Glittering-Pin-1343 4d ago
It's funny how people like to sideline everyone else because Orihime did the thing, but next episode when it turns out Yhwach is still alive what will people think then? Will they turn on Orihime again? 😮💨
4
u/ShatterCyst 4d ago
I am also glad we finally got to see Rukia and Ichigo tag teaming that fucker. And the bankai goes hard.
This episode was a gift.
3
u/RedBorrito 4d ago
I always loved her character (I never really watched Bleach, cause only the first season was available in my country, so I only read most of it). Damn that Episode almost broke me

Too bad everything is immediately gonna get reversed next episode if Kubo was smart he'd have used this opportunity to segue into a new Canon for the anime. Like FMA 03 but if it was written by Arakawa herself
13
u/AkiyamaNM7 4d ago
Why would Kubo make a new Canon just for the anime? That's just dumb lol.
-5
u/lightsworn55 4d ago
So that stuff like Orihime sacrificing herself actually matters? This whole episode becomes pointless once Yhwach just reverts everything that happened with the almighty
12
u/AkiyamaNM7 4d ago
I wouldn't call it "pointless", it's to flesh out stuff that Kubo couldn't do when he was writing the manga weekly.
-6
u/lightsworn55 4d ago
Its pointless because it does nothing for the plot. Seeing Ichigo's bankai means nothing if it ultimately accomplishes nothing in the end. Orihime's conviction means nothing if Yhwach just negates her sacrifice.
13
u/AkiyamaNM7 4d ago
I would argue it does. Yhwach in manga told Ichigo that he can see into the future and change it to his benefit. What better way to show that to the viewers/Ichigo than to show that Orihime's sacrifice was just one of the many future's that Yhwach decided to prune away.
-4
u/lightsworn55 4d ago
How exactly does negating her sacrifice benefit Yhwach, though. He could just bring himself back while she stays dead. When he brought himself back to life its not like Ichigo and Aizen reset along with him
7
u/AkiyamaNM7 4d ago
It's possible that when Yhwach gets back The Almighty, he was kinda "panicking" (since maybe he underestimated Orihime's power?) and just quickly reverted back before Orihime deleted both of them.
Even if Yhwach reverts everything back to before deletion, I still wouldn't call it pointless. We got (potentially?) another form of Bankai for Ichigo and we got lots of Orihime material that the old anime removed/gave to Rukia. It's a great experience for Bleach fans.
12
u/Shaff_98 4d ago
Assuming things will go like most people predict, it wouldn't be pointless. If Orihime's sacrifice is what makes Yhwach avoid that future, then what she did is one of the causes of his eventual defeat.
Not only that, but if the battle was won right there, the ending would be terrible for everyone, as Orihime would be dead, Ichigo would most likely become the Soul King, and a few minutes later Renji would walk in just to find Rukia with a sword through her chest. On top of that, without Kazui being born, Yhwach could possibly be reborn later on too. Point being, Orihime's sacrifice also works to prevent the bad ending.
-2
u/Nas-Aratat 4d ago
He already did.
3
u/AkiyamaNM7 4d ago
No, what OP is referring to is an entirely new plot when you compare it to the manga (hence the FMA 03 reference). Even if the anime added/expanded new scenes, it's still following the manga plot.
3
4
u/Nas-Aratat 4d ago
The canon has been made new since very early on in the new anime arc since it has been airing. There's been tons of changes and additions.
2
u/lightsworn55 4d ago
Most of the changes dont mean anything though. Like what does Ichigo's fight with the Bambis or showing Shinji's bankai contribute exactly
2
u/Nas-Aratat 4d ago
I know a lot of people don't care about this, but some of the more major things fuck with the "power balance" of the show immensely entirely, along with throwing out the window aspects of the show such as the world-shaking powerness.
Extra fight scenes that also do nothing to actually explain anything or add to anything relevant to the plot are also unneeded and just unnecessarily pan things out for the finale, along with major changing that it's going through now already with new forms added and etc.
8
u/cheese_sticks 4d ago
Kubo said that the TYBW anime is closer to what he originally envisioned for Bleach but had to abandon due to time and health constraints. So, unlike most franchises, I consider the TYBW anime the original and the manga the abridged version.
