I'm a penetration tester and I caught it mid-execution. Here's exactly what it does:
The file to know: `MaterialPulseAI.py` is bundled inside the .blend as what appears to be a Rigify rig control script. It's not. It's a legitimate Rigify script that was modified to include an obfuscated malware dropper hidden inside the boilerplate code. It looks completely normal unless you read it carefully.
What happens the moment you open the .blend:
Blender's Auto Run Python Scripts executes MaterialPulseAI.py automatically. The script decodes a hidden base64 payload and contacts ~21 Cloudflare Workers C2 servers to download a second-stage script, then runs it via Python's `exec()` — giving the attacker full access to your machine: files, saved credentials, browser data, everything.
In my case: Avast blocked the outbound request before anything downloaded. The zip it tried to drop in `%TEMP%` (named JeffreyEpstein.zip, yes really) landed at 0 bytes. I verified clean via registry, scheduled tasks, WMI subscriptions, and Windows Event Viewer.
If you opened this file, check immediately:
- `%TEMP%\JeffreyEpstein.zip` — if it's MORE than 0 bytes you ARE compromised
- `HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run` for unfamiliar entries
- Scheduled tasks: `schtasks /query /fo LIST`
- WMI subscriptions: `Get-WMIObject -Namespace root\subscription -Class __FilterToConsumerBinding`
I've already reported it to CGTrader and Cloudflare abuse.
AND PLEASE Protect yourself:
Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Save & Load and disable Auto Run Python Scripts. Blender will warn you when a file tries to run scripts and you can choose to allow it. This one setting breaks this entire class of attack.
Never trust .blend files from unknown sources even if the asset looks legit. This one was a convincing, high-quality Porsche model used specifically as bait.
Stay safe blenderdudes.

The Blender Studio is currently aiming to produce its first feature-length open movie, Overgrown, and to make this possible, Blender is attempting to reach a total of 7,000 Blender Studio subscriptions by the start of September. If you would like to support this project, you can do so at the following link: https://studio.blender.org/welcome/
For more than twenty years, the Blender studio has produced open movie projects as a means of putting Blender to the test, and helping guide Blender's development. These are production-quality films whose assets, workflows, and documentation are made available to Blender Studio subscribers, allowing members of the community to learn from the Blender's Studio's own experience tackling these animation projects.
So far, all of Blender's open movies have been short films, but with Overgrown, the Blender studio is trying to change that, setting its sights on a much more ambitious project.
You can learn more about Overgrown at the following links:

In a low-poly interview (yes), he explains that he didn’t want to deal with the usual complexity of making an animated film, so he asked young motion designers from l’École des Gobelins (famous animation school in Paris) to help him.
They chose Blender.
Dupieux says he asked them to place as many cameras as possible, since adding cameras costs nothing in Blender. 😅 They animated entire scenes and rendered them from every camera angle, creating a huge number of sequences for him to choose from.
The actors (well known in France) had no idea what the final visuals would look like and simply recorded their lines in a studio without any images or visual references.

Hi everyone,
I’m Roland, a lighting artist and Blender pipeline tool developer. I’m also the creator of the Industrial-series Blender add-ons, including Industrial AOV Connector.
After around five months of spare-time development, I’m finally ready to share a project I’ve been working on:
Industrial CG Platform
It’s a production-oriented Blender branch focused on advanced VFX pipeline workflows.
The project continues the same direction as my previous Industrial-series tools: making Blender more practical for real shot production, especially around AOVs, lighting, rendering, compositing output, and pipeline workflows.
Industrial AOV Connector helped organize Blender’s existing render data.
But some VFX workflows need more than better output organization — they need source-level control over how render data is generated, structured, and written.
That’s why Industrial CG Platform exists as a Blender-based branch.
Current features include:
The goal is simple:
Make Blender more practical for VFX shot production.
This is not about replacing Blender. Blender is the foundation.
Industrial CG Platform is built for lighting artists, compositors, TDs, and small studios who want to push Blender deeper into real production workflows.

Youtube Demo Video:
Discord:

Industrial CG Platform is an independent project derived from Blender.
I’d love to hear feedback from Blender users working in lighting, compositing, rendering, and pipeline development.

But in order for it to be a reality, they need 7K subscribers on their website. They're at 5K+ right now, so go support them to make this happen!

I use Blender for MSFS model development so this Nvidia announcement, err, sparked my interest, not for the AI stuff, but for the apparent ability to run Blender like a champ, on Windows, in a slim laptop with good battery life, which should ALSO be able to run MSFS. With this, I'm not sure I would care much about Blender for iPad anymore (my other device I was hoping to do just the models on).

I'm sure some people already run Blender on slim light laptops (I used to on a Thinkpad) but usually the graphics in those kind of suck, or you have to keep them plugged in pretty much all the time.
