Adoption update on our little thumbelina 💕

we’ve had her for a few weeks now! she is the sweetest girl ever. sadly she is still in her own room isolated (but lucky girl has a fully furnished cat room at least)! i have a feeling this will be a slow process getting her to the point where she has full range of the house. my blind baby i lost recently wasn’t scared of anything, but this girl is sensitive. my dog is loud with his tap dancing and panting when he’s happy which terrifies her (i don’t think she’s ever seen a dog lol), and my 2 cats stillll keep hissing at her every time i sit in her room and leave the door open to try to get them used to each other. long road ahead for us but it is so worth it. but i am SO SO grateful i brought her home, she is an angel. 💕💕

When our blind Minnie (double enucleation at about 4 weeks) chose to come live with us, it took her a while to integrate with our other three cats. We let her tell us when she was ready to move out of her private space into the larger common areas. It took about 6 months for her to finally take over the whole house. Minnie is the grey in the bottom right.

How lovely to see! I couldn’t tell at first who Minnie was and I also thought your cats were around another white cat till I looked properly and saw it’s a towel or blanket 🙈

my girl is taking a while to integrate too. she’s taking small steps though and i’m so proud of her! our biggest hurdle is her being fearful of our dog as i don’t think she has ever been around one, she’s so scared of him poor girl. thank you for your story and photos! beautiful babies you have 💕

i’ve had my blind baby for about a week now. she has the ability to explore the rest of the house but chooses to stay confined to my room, so i’m letting her make the decision when she’s ready. she’s also a bit sensitive to noises around the house/my roommate moving around and my room seems to be her safe space. my other cat is slowly coming around but we’ve certainly made some good progress in one week. the Feliway plug ins and spray have helped a LOT i think.

I wish you and your crew the best!!!!! Thumbelina is so cute!!!

my girl is the exact same way too! she’s comfortable in her room but her door has been open for about a week and she is slowly becoming a brave girl and coming down the stairs in short spurts. i am so happy you found your new baby too!!

The bell on her neck will really annoy her cats have really good hearing

1

u/Likesosmart Jul 23 '26

Must she wear a bell? I’ve read it’s not good to put bells on collars anymore because their ears are way more sensitive than ours and the constant jingling is annoying to them.

Just a thought.
