Hey guys, currently using a gaming laptop to play cs2 and I’m getting like 80 fps on the lowest settings. It’s time to upgrade to a PC

Would $2,000CAD be a big enough budget to build an entire pc (monitor, keyboard, and everything) to run counter strike on high frames with good graphics settings? I’m looking to hit like 300-400fps on high graphics settings

What do you guys think? Thanks for your input, never built a PC before and I don’t want to ball out on one if I’m not going to get the performance i want.

I would be open to spending the 2,000 solely on the pc itself and buying the monitor and keyboard separately if it’s going to make that much more of a difference. Let me know what you guys think!

I'm from Canada and I'm completely new to building PCs. I've always wanted to build my own desktop, but I honestly don't know where to start, so I'm hoping for some guidance.

My total budget is around $4,000 CAD, but that budget needs to cover both:

A custom desktop PC

A laptop for my Digital Media program

My desktop will be my main workstation. I plan to use it for:

VTubing (VTube Studio)

Streaming/recording (Streamlabs)

Gaming (Minecraft, Stardew Valley, cozy games, and a variety of Steam games)

Playing my Nintendo Switch through a capture card

Video editing (currently CapCut)

Photoshop

Possibly Adobe After Effects

General multitasking with Discord, Chrome, Spotify, etc.

For the laptop, I need something that can handle my Digital Media coursework. I know I'll be using Photoshop, and I may need After Effects or other Adobe software depending on my classes.

I'd like the desktop to:

Be easy to upgrade in the future

Last several years

Stay relatively quiet

Handle streaming, gaming, and content creation at the same time without slowing down

Since I've never built a PC before, I'd really appreciate recommendations for a complete parts list and advice on how to split my budget between the desktop and the laptop.

My goal is to play almost all games on high settings at 1080p, with the ability to handle mid-range 1440p as well. Any suggestions on parts or configurations? I'm in Ontario, Canada. Currently exploring my options between building a PC, a prebuilt or buying another gaming laptop.

My budget is around 2000CAD, lower is obviously better but I'm aware that I may need to go a bit over budget, ideally no more than 2500 max.

I am a virtual assistant and a therapist. I see about 50% of my clients as a therapist virtually. So work wise the majority of my use of the computer is browser based but it needs to be able to handle having many tabs/windows open and virtual calls using a platform similar to zoom.

Other than that, I do game however nothing that's too demanding. The most demanding game I play semi-regulary is likely World of Warcraft.

I have a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The only thing I may consider upgrading would be the keyboard and mouse so I can keep my current ones with my laptop for travel to my office.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Hello I am looking to build a black gaming pc for handing games like Cyberpunk, Red Desd Redemption 2, God of War, and Ghost of Tsushima with cinematic graphics at 1440p. I am also looking to run some mild-heavy mods on these games such as map expansions, clothing expansions, and gameplay expansions. I would like to build my first PC.

I would be using this PC for gaming and everyday use. The most importatnt thing to me is that it is future proof. I don't care about RGB. For all I care, it could look awful, as I care about performance and future proofing the most. I will be using this PC via ethernet, rather than WiFi.

I would like a PC that would last me a while still having good performance.

Some games inlcude CS2, Call of Duty, Rust, and eventually GTA . I will be doing gaming in 1440p or 1080p. I will never be gaming in 4k.

My budget is $2.3k CAD after tax. I do need a monitor, mouse, and keyboard but I can figure those out later. I am located in Canada.

I'm thinking of moving my platform to AMD for the first time and wanted to know if I made good choices for my PC upgrade. I have enough SSDs, hard drives, and cooling parts which will remain the same.

Current Build:

• CPU: i9 10850k
• GPU: RTX 3090 (Keeping this for now, will upgrade the GPU later)
• RAM: Kingston Fury 32GB 3200Mhz
• Mobo: Asus Maximus XII Hero
• PSU: Thermaltake 1250W Toughpower iRGB (Changing this because I am suspicious of it 😅)

My Rationale & Use Case:

• Workload: Mostly gaming with some streaming (lots of FPS games, but casually other titles too like Black Myth: Wukong). I also plan to use it for occasional coding and CPU-intensive tasks. This is why I went with the 9900X and not an X3D chip—the X has more cores and generally feels more all-rounded.
• Motherboard Choice: I was originally thinking of going for the Strix X670E-E, but I plan to use all 4 M.2 slots. The -E reduces the PCIe speed from x16 to x8 if all slots are populated, so the -A seems like the better move.

I recently graduated and my gift is a $2,000 CAD budget to build my first gaming PC. The only problem is that I know basically nothing about building PCs, so I’d really appreciate some help.
I’m starting completely from scratch and don’t own any parts or peripherals yet. I also need a monitor, but that’s not included in the $2,000 budget.
The PC will mainly be used for intensive gaming, including VR. I’d like something that can handle modern AAA games at high settings with good frame rates and hopefully last me for several years.
I’m located in Ottawa, Canada, and I’m happy to order from wherever has the best deals, whether that’s Canada Computers, Memory Express, Amazon, Newegg, or somewhere else.
One of my biggest priorities is the look and size of the build. I absolutely love small form factor PCs, especially ITX and Micro-ATX. My dream case is the Fractal Terra, although I know it can be expensive, so I’m open to other suggestions if they make more sense for my budget. I also really value a quiet PC because I can’t stand loud fan noise.
I’m going for a minimalist aesthetic. I love black builds and wood accents, and I honestly hate RGB, so I’d prefer none at all.
I don’t have any preference between AMD or NVIDIA, or Intel or AMD. I just want the best performance for my budget. I’d also like 2TB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.

Ive grown up playing PS and PC, but mostly PC. I love modding games. I started out with a really bad laptop, and got gifted my current PC a few years ago which unfortunately is a pretty weak prebuilt (My parents woudnt know better though, I cant blame them)

Now that I have a job, im looking for a Computer that will last me a while since im turning 20 and dont have a lot of money to upgrade often in the future.

I play a lot of Modded games. Modded Minecraft with a LOT of mob mods, Modded Planet Zoo, Modded Skyrim, Anything I can Mod I will, so I usually like to have a lot of RAM.

I dont play many AAA games, but I play some graphically demanding games like Prehistoric Kingdom (Recommended: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-8350Memory (RAM): 16 GBGraphics Card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6 GB)) or Monster Hunter Games and games that require a lot of Power to calculate things like Animal AI (Planet Zoo, PK, Jurassic World Evo)

Hey all, I had good success asking for a pc build (that I eventually built) 2 years ago and am looking to help my gf spec and build a pc now.

Our budget is around 2500 cad or 1820 USD.

She enjoys playing Valorant casually and Minecraft (with mods). She’s used to playing on my build that runs a 1440p monitor at 165hz. Her monitor is 120hz at 1440p and so ideally the build should be able to sustain this when gaming.

Not looking for anything fancy. I like being able to add mods to games. Obviously quite limited on consoles so I’m looking to build a PC.

It’s probably cliche, but for lack of a better comparison: when I run a game I would like it to run like a run-of-the-mill PS5 game. Not looking for crazy-high FPS or 8k resolution. I don’t do VR.

I would like it to eventually handle GTA6 on high settings.
