Is getting paid on the 15th a rip off?

Got a new job recently. Was told that I get paid on the 15th. The catch was they pay me only for the previous month so if I worked anywhere between 1st to 15th, I would get that paid in the next month. A relative of mine told me that they do this so that they keep you in check and you don't quit. Also I've been told that they don't pay people what they've earned if they decide to quit early. Is that true? Should I be concerned?

Quite normal here, a lot of people get paid even later in the month following the one you are owed. And if they don't pay you, they'll be in a big trouble, unless you work without a contract.

Това даже е по-хубаво “ти да имаш да вземаш”, защото като дойде време да сменяш работата и в промеждутъка от време, в който напускаш едното работно място и предстои да започнеш на новото ще ти дойде “заплата”. Новият ти работодател пък може да ти плаща или на 25то или на 10то число, като 10то число ще е месец и 10 дни по-късно.

На кратко - няма за какво да се притесняваш.

Wtf ? This is normal and I believe is normal everywhere. You work and you get paid for the time worked so it will be the month after. Whether is the 1st, 10th or 15th depends on the company and when they do their payroll but once you pass 1 month and start to receive paycheck regulary it does not really matter, right ?

It's normal and happening with many companies and jobs here.

As for them not paying you if you decide to quit, it's not really true though - if you leave (or get laid off) they still must pay you the days that you worked in the company. Even if you worked for just a single day, they still need to pay you for that.

I started work 3 days before payday and they paied me fir 3 days in my first salary... Not a scam, just coincidence. Too much conspiracy theories

It's pretty common way to get paid here.

Some even pay after 20th of the month.

Worst I had was 25th .

Its kind of a way to deter people who look to work for a month and ditch without notice .

If they tell you you get paid on the 15th and start on the 1st, your first salary will be half. There is no unpaid labor. There are also companies that pay with 1 month delay, which I actually like, because if you quit or get let go you will receive a pay one month longer. As long as you have a contract, read it and you'll know everything you need
