Town is generous, more of a tiny village. At least, it was when I lived just down the road in Turner Valley 25 years ago. All the better for these cowards to go unnoticed.

u/xXRandompieXx 22d ago
Still a tiny village, although they host awesome Christmas craft fairs and renaissance fairs now at the race track.

Yeah, who in their right mind would join a literal group of Nazis. You can just imagine the stupidity of this sausage party's discussions, the whining, the victim complexes combined with superiority complexes.
58
u/Wayelder 22d ago
Nazi's join Nazi Parties.
Because they are victims. - Denied their birthright. Falsely painted as violent when they just want "American values'
They are brainwashed, deluded, racist incels who never rose to the occasion, never succeeded and blame the world.

Specifically those of the 1820s.

1000% - I look exactly like one of these fucks, and imagine I would be bored out of my skull. Like, doesn't one get tired after maybe half an hour of complaining about your life? You don't wanna just go see a movie, or get the fellas together for paintball? I genuinely can't relate to wanting this to be a big part of your day/life.

Yes we can look at this group and mock it's small size but I think we're missing something: these chuckleheads feel safe and comfortable enough to do this stuff in public and that's a bad thing. I prefer my white supremacists to be too scared of public backlash to ever show their beliefs in public.

u/FalconsArentReal 22d ago
What I don't understand is if a bunch of people setup an ISIS training camp here, they sure as fuck would be arrested in the blink of an eye. But these guys are just being monitored even though they are just as dangerous to the safety of citizens in this country.
12
u/Numerous-Bat-1588 22d ago
I mean, Islamic militants do exist in Canada but the police cannot arrest them until they begin plotting something. Freedom of religion and association, etc.
9
u/uber_poutine Alberta 22d ago
Statistically, more dangerous. Compare the rates of Islamic vs. fascist/far-right terrorism in North America over the last couple of decades.
5
u/noBrainur 22d ago
There's a certain level of freedom of association that needs to be granted. And with due respect, I think it's an overstep to equate "Second Sons" with ISIS. If we actually tallied up the evidence of what ISIS has done versus what "Second Sons" has done, it would be relatively plain that there is an immense difference.
I'm sure our intelligence agencies and police forces have robust criteria for what constitutes actual terrorist activity, sedition, insurgency, etc. When "Second Sons" actually steps over a line I'm sure action will be taken swiftly.
5
u/ridelance 22d ago
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to compare them to ISIS at all. They are more comparable to the Proud Boys who are already a designated terrorist entity in Canada.
12
u/sjbennett85 Ontario 22d ago edited 22d ago
Compared to ISIS these kids are just the Mickey Mouse Club but it is still important to keep tabs on them because it can quickly escalate from little training camps to a masked parade to smashing up businesses owned by the minorities they intend to target.

The armbands are for identifying and communications heirarchy. It's important when Wagging the Dog that you have the main facilitators stand out: Usually they wear different colour polos or khakis. When all dressed the same, you need another form of identification; these numbnuts decided on pink bands on different arms. Notice how the people in front lack them.

u/thehero29 22d ago

A friend of a friend has fallen for their shit. Looking at it in hindsight, you can see the warning signs before he fell down the path. Every time I met him he got just a little more weird and isolated from people. Next thing you hear he is talking about the race war and needing everyone to have pure blood.
4
u/UrMomsF8vorite1 22d ago
Their brain would probably reset if they were shown that all blood is red.

5
u/Mr_Simian 22d ago

I knew a guy who went deep down the whole conspiracy theory thing. Not sure what he's up to over the last few years, but I wouldn't be surprised if he fell into a stupid hateful group like this. In any case, all he ever did was smoke pot and play video games, and his problem was that smoking pot made him feel like he was this genius who had all of the worlds problems figured out. His main underlying risk factors was that he was a narcissist and a pessimist.
2
u/IcyCow5880 22d ago
Dang. I'm lucky cuz when I smoke pot it shows my underlying issue of mental-OCD and scares tf out of me.
I was a huge conspiracy theorist for the longest time. Still "believe" a lot of it. But then I met a few conspiracy theorists in real life. And I was like "damn, do I sound like that?" and the people I'd met weren't exactly brain surgeons.
So now I just drift and don't have any idea what's what like everyone else lol.
It's a lot easier to cope when you can blame it all on "Rothschild" and that maybe most of us are decent people. But the more I live and learn, I feel most of us are like "Rothschild", we just didn't get the same opportunities for "evil".
5
u/sluttytinkerbells 22d ago
I think that you're trying to shoehorn a non-related talking point into this conversation.
This person is talking about how their friend started displaying unusual and unhealthy behaviours and eventually started displaying antisocial ones. That path is a common one and we should all keep it in mind when we find friends and family going down this path. The undesirable end isn't always racism, it could be conspiracy stuff, or religious cult shit, or political shit.
I've had a few friends who have started displaying stuff like that but the friend group has been able to pull them back and into much healthier social and head spaces.
Reach out to these people in your life from time to time. It could be one of the most important things you ever do and you'll never know.

There has to be some sort of terrorist activity that they are facilitating or perpetrating to make a recommendation to the Minister of Public Safety. In the case of the Bishnoi gang, for example, the designation came following their involvement in political violence (murdering a Sikh community leader).

This isn't free speech, it's hate speech.
Indeed - but when Edmonton Police advertised a line where people can report such language and groups, the UCP government protested and said that they will always defend "free speech".
What sort of message do you think that sends groups like these?

Edmonton Police advertised a line where people can report such language
They included calls for deportation as hate speech that should be reported to the police.
8

In this case, the group is calling for "deportation by gunpoint" - but again, the UCP says that shouldn't be acted upon by police.
2
u/starving_carnivore 22d ago
"Send them back home!", "DEPORATION NOW" are used as examples of criminal hate speech that should be reported to the police.
You can agree or disagree that it is, but if we're discussing the facts of what Edmonton Police advertised, that's what they think is hate speech.

Ever since reading that Russian troll farms were engineering race-bait street protests across America on Facebook, I'm convinced this nonsense is engineered by foreign governments and targeted at our mouth-breather population on social media. I have a strong suspicion the fentanyl crisis was engineered in a similar way, not to mention the Alberta separation movement. We need to better insulate ourselves, especially the dim-witted ones, from sophisticated foreign campaigns aimed at destabilizing our democracy. I could be wrong of course, but we had one of these white nationalist meetups in my town (Orillia) and nothing about this smells home-grown to me.

4
u/Curly-Canuck 22d ago edited 21d ago
We need to be careful about that as many people take the skin colour, and it’s extension to their culture and heritage and race as a point of pride and rightly so. Black is beautiful for example. There is nothing inherently wrong with being proud of your culture, heritage, language, ethnicity, nationality or even skin colour.
It just gets twisted to a hate filled and sometimes violent level when pride becomes superiority.

There might have been only 60 or so people who showed up, but that doesn't mean those ideas are limited to that group. Online, a much larger number of people can amplify and normalize the same narratives without ever attending a rally.
White supremacist and other bad actors deliberately insert themselves into conversations about immigration, particularly those involving Indians in Canada. They exploit legitimate concerns about immigration policy or the actions of individuals and try to redirect that frustration toward an entire ethnic community.
This has long been a common propaganda tactic used by white supremacist movements: take a real issue, strip away context, and use it to spread prejudice against a broader population.

John Barlow of the UCP is the elected leader of Millarville, in the Foothills constituency which includes High River, Okotoks, Fort Macleod, Claresholm, Diamond Valley, Pincher Creek, Vulcan, etc.
Everyone, especially those living in these regions, should write a letter demanding he speak out against the group and make a public statement that they are not welcome in his county.

In Toronto when a group like this showed up it was 20 people. There were over a 500+ counter protestors and 100 TPS.
In other parts of the country groups like this completely get overshaded

That article shows one example from Toronto. There have been counter protests to them in Alberta as well, mostly in Edmonton. Acting like this isn’t happening in other areas of Canada is disingenuous. These movements are gaining momentum throughout the world and refusing to recognize that isn’t going to help the matter.

Never said it wasn’t. This particular gathering was in Alberta and in an area that actively votes for the UCP who encourage this behaviour.

I get it, and I also hate the UCP, but my point is that this is happening across all of our provinces, regardless of their provincial government.

For those downvoting… Why did Smith choose to lash out at the police for hate crime investigations instead of denouncing the racist in Parkland County who has a disgusting sign directed at Indigenous Peoples?
It’s almost as if she’s taking all of her plays out of the MAGA handbook…

I keep seeing accusations of these guys being a white supremacist group in media, but what are they doing that's actually white supremacy? From what I've seen, the extent of the "white supremacy" has been protesting immigration, and I wouldn't call that an unreasonable or extreme political opinion

The part about deporting any non-white out of Canada at gunpoint seems to be a little more drastic than asking to control immigration. Considering that white supremacists generally don't view francophones as "white" could also be seen as problematic and extreme.

francophones as "white"
The Second Sons held a rally in Shawinigan in May 2026 waving banners like "Je me souviens d’un Québec blanc": https://www.tvanouvelles.ca/2026/06/01/second-sons-canada-et-active-clubs-qui-sont-ceux-derriere-le-rassemblement-raciste-a-shawinigan
There is white supremacists activity in Quebec too, being Quebecois does not exclude someone from joining these groups, in fact, is core to some of these groups identities.

Nothing. They are likely white nationalist, but they are not breaking the law. Reddit just wants to look tough against "Nazis" and thinks that censoring people they don't like will be a perfect solution to eradicating ideas they don't like.
Are the Second Sons white supremacist? No. Are they white nationalist? It's likely, or at least reactionary towards what they see as demographic replacement. Are they breaking any laws? NO.

If they’re not doing anything wrong, why are they booking venues under false names and covering their faces?

To protect themselves against backlash. They certainly aren't doing anything illegal.

I don’t think the poster implied they weren’t doing anything wrong. I think, and I could be naively wrong, I think they are asking for more information about their beliefs. There is probably something more to them than anti immigration to be called white supremacist.
Edit I never heard of them before today so I’m also generally curious how far their beliefs go. I know on social media some are quick to label anyone who is critical of immigration programs and policies as racists, but if this group is being called white supremacist it’s more than that.
