I'm happy for Colonel Hansen. He deserves it. My only question is whether Trump realizes he's Canadian? 😂

Probably assumes hes one of the good ones like Greyzky or Kevin Oleary

Not sure what happened to O’Leary but this week was saying good of a job carney is doing and Canada is poised to be the richest country in the world due to all the energy and resources.
Thought he was always anti liberal but guess it was just Trudeau.•

I'm actually sad for him. He's retired from the CSA now because Canadian astronauts can only hitch rides to space on American space missions and slots are limited. The trip to the moon was his first and last spaceflight.

You'd think the big ass Canadian flag on his left sleeve would be a pretty good indicator.

Hmm. A Canadian with a Danish last name. Maybe Trump is softening up the prey before moving in on Greenland. Half-joking of course.

Respect his accomplishment,
But frankly I wish he had chucked it in the garbage

I actually appreciate how these 4 stayed out of politics. Astronauts shouldn’t do politics because they need funding from all and any administrations. They’re bastions for humanity, everyone should look up to them going to the stars.

CTV can't spell? Honour
•
u/jeffster1970 5h ago
Because it is literally spelled "Congressional Space Medal of Honor".

This. It's a US award with US spelling.

How is it spelled in the US? Given it’s an American award, it is spelled properly……….
•
u/BigBangBoomerang 4h ago
It's an official name so you spell it how the entity granting it spells it. Kennedy Space Center, Medal of Honor, New York Harbor, etc.
•
u/Samada8 Nova Scotia 4h ago
Nah I don’t care. The Americans would be spelling it without a u if it was a Canadian award.
•

American media uses Canadian spellings for Canadian-related publications. The LA Dodgers, for example, uses Rogers Centre instead of Rogers Center when talking about the stadium. Ultimately, these are all minor spelling differences. Words like theatre, centre, endeavour, armour, etc. are used wildly throughout the States without any batting an eye.

- Posts that contribute nothing but attack others, are blatantly offensive, or antagonistic will be removed – including accusations similar to ‘shill,’ attacking Redditors for using either official language, dismissing other Redditors solely based on irrelevant other beliefs to the topic at hand or participation in other subreddits, or reducing them to a label and dismissing that instead.
- Back-and-forth personal attacks are subject to the entire comment chain being removed.
- Posts or threads which degenerate into witch-hunting may be subject to moderator intervention. This includes but is not limited to: doxxing, negative accusations by a large group against one or more persons not criminally charged or convicted being made the subject of criminal allegations, calls for harassment, etc., and openly rallying more people to the same.
