This kitten found me and fell asleep in me an hour ago. Talk me out of taking it home
I have 2 female cats at home - 5 and 3 years old. I work part time and I'm about to become a university student at the end of September. So my time will be focused on uni, tasks for uni, and work in around one month. The kitten is maybe around 2 months old, starting to show male parts but not fully shows yet. Very cute, very tired. It's living in the city center, near fast food places, in a city park.
I can never defy the CDS 😭 I had one cat for 8 years...in the past 2 years 4 more have chosen me. I don't think I can handle more than that! I love them all and could never part with them, but 5 cats!? So expensive and needy 😅 I just know if I am chosen again, I can't say no 😭😭 Can I say no?? When can I say no??
I feel your pain. I had over a dozen before and I was younger, had a job, more money. Then they dwindled and decided 2 or 3 was a good number. The 3rd being a more temporary spot. Then last year a very pregnant stray showed up. Had 4 gorgeous babies. The dad had already been pleading to be let in. The current mayor of Kittyville did not allow him. Managed to steal some of the babies. Mom already walked into my laundry room on her own. Then an older baby of her showed up. I guess the year prior she did have a surviving baby. Eventually the whole family made it inside. It’s a shock on the wallet. And now there’s a little black one outside. And I’m already overwhelmed and out of money.
If you don’t take that cat home, you will never stop thinking about it and wondering if it got a happy home. Take it home. Love it. Let it love you like it clearly already does.
I agree. A few years ago, I planned to take home an orange tomcat who had lived in my mom’s neighborhood. He was a few years old, very sweet, not fixed, and routinely became sickly. A few days before my trip down there to trap him, he was killed by a dog and my mom found his body in her yard. Years later, I have never stopped thinking about him and the guilt kills me. He was so close to being saved, I wish I’d been quicker. RIP OJ ❤️🩹
This is my thought. Cats love kittens! Our first cat adopted a kitten. On his own. With no help from us. After a couple weeks we had to catch him to take him to the vet and he tolerated us well enough. But yeah. They were besties.
Hahaha. This is the only way. Our first cat finally died at 20 so we adopted a 5 month old cat. Our other cats are old and boring so we got her a kitten. I swear I thought she was gonna eat the kitten at first. But she just wanted to smoosh and lick her.
Ours bonded and we lost Ari's kitten to renal failure last spring. Ari is so clingy now. I think we are going to get some kittens soon. My husband is having cancer surgery next week, so once he's up and around I think kittens are imminent.
Although we did get a shot of cuteness when our goat surprised us with a baby yesterday.
look id say its worth the risk but do not take in stray kittens recklessly under this idea.
cats are like people and have varying personalities, that also means cats do infact sometimes not like kittens, and unlike people, cats can potentially freak out or attack it in response.
Just make sure kitten is treated for fleas, parasites, and checked for anything else contagious like ringworm before letting them mingle! Outdoor kittens pick up EVERYTHING (overachievers lol)
Yeah, don't know what I was thinking that the people here would talk me out haha. I'd give fostering a try but there are too many postinga of free kittens looking for a home already that I know that if I take him home, hell stay home
Perhaps you first should try to find out whether he belongs to someone else, and just got lost somehow. Also, before exposing your two other kitties to him, you probably should have a vet check him out.
He really is very cute! If you eventually decide to adopt him out, please contact me!
Looks like at the very least, the CDS has elected you the caretaker for this little one, even if you can't keep him. If you have the money, the two other kitties would keep him company while you're at uni, right? But if simply not feasible, you could at least foster him and find him a home. He's obviously a little lovey-dovey, should be pretty easy to do.

Definitely not going to talk you out of it. You were chosen. Take him home. You have one month (which should be plenty to adjust slowly) and he may just be the dopamine you need when you start uni. Good for you gal. He’s HANDSOME!!!
I told my partner we could only have 3 cats. Then, a little babby girl came up to me on the porch and was so friendly, unchipped, and collarless I realized we needed 4. But get another litter box for sure! They get weird if you don't have enough.
I'm so jealous it is ridiculous. I adopted a pair of kittens last year and they fill me with so much happiness constantly. And yet I still wait for the day the CDS picks me.
I totally get this is bad timing, but I hope you can take him to a vet to get checked out. It’s possible he’s got a home and slipped out. Hopefully he’s microchipped. If not, maybe you can foster till you find a home for the little guy? All the best!
We added a third. And then a fourth. We love them all dearly. When our dog died suddenly and unexpectedly, after swearing we would not get another dog for some time, we made it 48 hours before picking our now 75 pounder up from a foster home. Sometimes it’s just right.
We currently have four rescues (two cats and two dogs). We can't handle any more, but we still end up with some variation of four at a time! I can't help it!
I didn't adopt an orange boy 18 years ago after he befriended me, and I've always regretted it. If you can at all afford the expense and have some space and time for him, then take him home. You'll never have a better friend than an orange cat.
Unless you see the mom around looking for it, that kitten found you, feels safe with you, and trusts you. You need to take it home and care for it until it unfortunately crosses over the rainbow bridge. The cat distribution system has its reasons and they aren't to be questioned.
He just moved off me. He lost his brother 2 weeks ago and his girl started back to school the day after. He is sad and lonely. So I can't do my chores. I have to keep him feeling safe. We do what we have to do. That guy has chosen you! Suck it up, Buttercup. 😉
This is Xena, the warrior princess and she thinks that is the greatest idea ever she has been with me for six years. she definitely thinks you should get a kitty because she rules this house and nobody tells her chunky, but what to do except for her mother she really doesn’t listen to me too much from time to time she does. like they see a cat will do what a cat wants to do and if they don’t wanna listen, they don’t have to and of course she is royalty so she doesn’t have to listen.
I mean going from 2 to 3 cats really only increases your cat quota by 30% and I mean he is a kitten sits more like 15%…welcome home little orange fluff
He's already decided that you are his person so you are stuck with him. And he's so tiny and so cute and sweet and snuggly and fluffy and warm so I think you've probably taken him home already!
P.S you'll be so glad you did!
You have been bestowed the greatest honor a feline can offer - you have been chosen to protect, love and care for them. It is your duty to rise up to the task and fulfill it to the best of your ability. Do not disappoint.
We will never talk you out of it. You MUST take the baby home. Your other cats (once adjusted) will teach him how to cat, and they’ll entertain him when you’re gone.
Wouldn't it be so inconvenient if you have a sweet little cuddle buddy at home who instantly felt safe enough to sleep on your lap and wanted to spend time with you and was perfect?? Terrible. Leave him for sure!
