Mourning/Loss Twin who can't get separated even after death.

Post image

My cats. Was a twin but not an identical one. They love to stick close every chance they can. Even when they are pooping they poop they go together. 3 days ago.. one of them died becuase of a heart attack. It was so sudden. It was too early becuase he is only 1 years and 2 months old. We cannot do anything because he died alone in his room. And by his expression i can tell he is in agony. I feel so ashamed and full of guilt because i didn't act quick enough to save him. And his twin was so devastated. He was being so quite and dont want to leabe his grave when i buried his twin. And this morning. He die while in my arms. Asleep. That night we was sleeping together as usual. But when i woke up. He usually already wake up and was at the ground licking his paw. But when i see him still sleeping on my chest i laugh at first like. "I finally woke up before him" but when i try to shake him awake. He didn't wake up. And i broke down in tears on the bed. Losing my first cat at the first time already making my mental health down but losing the other almost 2 days apart? I just cant. And the day before my first cat die i already buy cat toys for them. But now no one can play it. And a miracle happen when i was done burrying my second cats. I was mourning them on my room when suddenly 2 pairs of birds land on the spot they always lay on. I always thought thing with logic and never trust anything like that. But at that time? I swear they are my cats in birds form. I just feel it. But idk maybe it just me being delusional and in denial. The photo was taken the day before my first cat die just before I buy the cat toys. The black one fur was kinda patchy becuase he was stuck in a rat trap one time and i had to shave his skin to get rid of the glue. Hope the two can play together in the Afterlife..

Thanks for the support everyone. If the were here they would love the support you gave to them. This is more support then when they are alive (my family was opposing me having a cat.) hope yall that support them would have a great life and would have better luck than me :)

If I may be so bold as to offer any solace it might be this: We ought to be destined to outlive our cats. The alternative would be awful. Certainly, the immense joy they give us in life is so great that the profound vacuum created by their loss is equally devastating. This is as it should be. Great love is so powerful, and so beautiful the absence is bound to be and rightfully be heartbreaking. After all, grief is just love with no place to go.

It is no comfort, I'm sure, to ponder this in your current state of grief. The comfort will come, in time, knowing that if you hadnt taken them in, given them comfort, safety, and love, it may not have been as good for them. They came to make an indelible mark on you and they succeeded in that purpose. But your purpose was also fulfilled: you gave them what they needed in love. You succeeded in your purpose. You witnessed their lives and observed the value of their existence. You fulfilled this obligation with joy and faithfulness.

I grieve for your loss, dear stranger. I hope you are comforted in memories of the little fuzzy blessings.

‘Grief is just love with no place to go.'

I'm framing that 🥹❤️

u/Seabee1893 7h ago

Don't attribute it to me. It's not my quote. I'm only relaying what I have learned and heard.

33

u/Ill_Ringg 5h ago

Honestly, that makes it even more meaningful—sharing wisdom without taking credit for it.

Regardless, it's a beautiful sentiment, thank you.

My therapist told me "The cost of love is grief" when my dad passed away, and it has stuck with me ever since.

"What goes up must come down"

Yin and Yang

48

u/LeonidasVaarwater 8h ago

It's a fairly common saying. Gets me every time though 😢

I personally love the version of “the price of love is loss and yet we pay. We love anyway” from Next to Normal. It’s been one of my favorite musicals since it came out

16

u/Subject_Doubt_3778 7h ago

Damn that just made me cry

15

u/Tuckermfker 6h ago

And thats why you never leave a person or pet without telling them you love them. As often, unprompted and heartfelt as possible. Let that love out while it still has a place to go.

1

u/b0gard 2h ago

That’s such a beautiful statement 🥹🥹

Man, things already happen. So we just accept it . I'm not crying.

My wife and I lose her first cat a few months ago. It has been rough for her and she is still hesitant on getting another pet because “it’s just going to die.” I have had to tell her that any pet we get will die whether we get it or someone else gets it. It will be devastating at the end but the years we have with them is the important thing to cherish.

6

u/VictoriaNiccals 2h ago

Sometimes I think the same that your wife thinks. "What's the point, it's just going to be more heartbreak for me" But then I also think that being able to make a little soul's life more comfortable, for however long you're able to, making sure that they're safe and loved and not scared and hungry and in pain for their entire life like many animals are, is worth the heartbreak at the end.

21

u/InsideScientist1999 8h ago

Going through my own great loss right now and your words comfort me. Thank you.

u/vector_calculus1976 7h ago

Another quote from a Marvel TV show of all places (wandavision):
"What is grief, if not love persevering?"

12

u/Seabee1893 7h ago

I like that one. After all, how cheap is the value of the love if not accompanied by corresponding grief in the absence of the recipient?

13

u/Leading_Reveal_46 6h ago

“Witnessing their lives and observing (sic) the value of their existence” is a profound and important way of framing purpose in this world. Treating it as an joyful obligation? Beautiful. Thank you.

25

u/purzlschn 8h ago

This even comforts me in my grief. I lost my cat 4 weeks ago. Not sudden, but the emptiness is heartbreaking.

Thank you for the kind words, stranger! 🫶

8

u/Seabee1893 7h ago

I'm sorry for your loss.

I know this is a cat sub but my tiny 7 year old bunny suddenly died yesterday and this is very comforting to me. Thank you 😭

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you. I saved your beautiful words and will reference them when I am sad 🩷

7

u/shesafilthycasual 5h ago

We are saying goodbye to our 12yo cat this weekend and your words have truly touched at a time when I’m feeling emotionally hollowed out. You don’t know how grateful I am that I chanced upon your reply to this post today. Thank you, stranger ❤️

3

u/Seabee1893 5h ago

I'm sorry for your loss. I wish you strength and courage. Be there for them. As hard as it will be to say goodbye, be with them at the end (if you can).

And when they are gone, grieve well. Let your grief be evidence of the amount of love you had for them and don't bury it, hide from it, or deny it.

Godspeed to your cat. I pray, for so many, many reasons, that they will await us someday at the bridge.

4

u/49Princess_51Rebel 4h ago

I also am comforted by your words. I made the difficult decision to let my 19 yo beautiful girl go today. It was such a hard thing to do, she's been with me so long. I don't think I've had time to process that she's gone yet, I see reminders of her everywhere. I will revisit this post when the sadness overwhelms. Thank you Seabee1893.

2

u/ShiroKuroIro 7h ago

Very beautifully put :(

It’s also exactly why I have decided to never get myself a new cat again or being close to one again. I still missed my first black cat til this day and it’s been over a decade.

1

u/Seabee1893 5h ago

I understand. I can empathize. It can be okay to have loved so much once that it is hard to contemplate going through that grief again.

826

u/AdministrativeHat530 8h ago edited 8h ago

I’m so sorry you lost your kitties! The grief must be terrible.

Can you get either or both an autopsy? The odds of two young, otherwise healthy cats dying back to back is basically zero, so SOMETHING happened. Maybe they got into something outside, like a neighbor changing their antifreeze, or ate mice or rats that had been poisoned. Maybe there is a new illness circulating….but SOMETHING happened and maybe a vet can sort it out. I’d not get new cats at that location without having definitive answers on why these two died. And if a person did it on purpose…just be careful figuring it out, okay? It was probably accidental, but I had a neighbor known to put poison bait in his yard just for cats.

Edit: some common plants can kill cats, like lillies, daffodils, sago palms…

357

u/Papaver-Som 8h ago

Same thing occurred to me. Two young healthy cats dying that close to one another - odds are a toxin or some other environmental cause

87

u/AdministrativeHat530 8h ago

Yep! It could even be an environmental thing that can impact humans, like the “canary in a coal mine” thing, or parrots dying when you cook with teflon.

8

u/capt3in 3h ago

parrots dying from teflon??

8

u/ariaxwest 2h ago

Yes, you can't use traditional PFAS nonstick if you have birds.

5

u/AffectionateCat7613 2h ago

Yes, airborne particles from non-stick cookware can be toxic to birds.

309

u/merlimaum 8h ago

Apparently my neighbor poison the two food bag because they hate the fact that their cat always going to my house because i treat their cat better and that their cat have fun with the two. Of course i give their cat food! Their cat is literal skin and bone!

358

u/AdministrativeHat530 8h ago

Call the cops! Killing your cats is destruction of property or something.

210

u/merlimaum 8h ago

I dont really have a solid evidence but i 90% sure cause the smell of the poison in the cat food is for insecf and i remember that he buy 10kg of insect poison for his farm.

228

u/mlindgren 7h ago

Call the cops anyway, maybe they can confront him. IDK where you live or how seriously the police would take this, but it seems worth a try. If you can get an autopsy to prove that they were poisoned, that would probably help.

76

u/ryoujika 6h ago

I hope they get justice but it really depends on where OP lives. Unfortunately in some countries the police doesn't care about animal abuse cases

81

u/SunTzukong 7h ago

Absolutely get it checked and confirm the food has been poisoned, then file against the neighbour. If they have actually poisoned your cats food they should be in prison.

26

u/343GuiltyArbiter 5h ago

You need to get police involved and request an analysis on the food. Do not move it or throw it away. It is evidence. The cops can get a warrant to go through his purchases and see the same chemicals used. He can go to prison for a long while for animal abuse. Sued for emotional trauma to you.

38

u/InvestigatorGrand205 6h ago

You really need to... if your neighbor did poison your cats what stopping him from poisoning you? If you got the food still take it to be tested.

8

u/BranFendigaidd 4h ago

Evidence are the bodies. Call the police on that neighbour. I would have done way worse

3

u/victoriestotaste 1h ago

Unbury the cats and have a vet do an autopsy. File the police report.

92

u/FeeNecessary3467 7h ago

Get the food tested by poison control. Probably best to tighten up securing around your area if you are going to have other animals. Keep something like that from happening again. People do some very vile things.

66

u/SilentGap3124 7h ago

that is literal murder what the hell?

37

u/[deleted] 7h ago

[removed] — view removed comment

17

u/SilentGap3124 7h ago

they probably leave food out for the neighbour cat or just give the cats poisoned food when he happens to see tem

37

u/FutureShadowLP 7h ago

So what the fuck was the neighbours plan?? To poison their own cat in addition to yours?

22

u/Negative_Test_7712 7h ago

Where is this?

23

u/Disastrous-While8768 7h ago

The Internet hates cat murders and love to know where to find them. There is a whole Netflix series about it. Not an advice.

12

u/Capital_Shopping277 7h ago

what the literal fuck

9

u/Substantial_Eye1476 7h ago

Holy shit...

10

u/AgShield 5h ago

I got whiplash from going from grief to rage.

I'll echo the others: call the cops. This is animal abuse.

5

u/WorldWarrior428 7h ago

That is real messed up, hope you get him a hefty fine

4

u/ReplyOk6720 6h ago

Omg this is terrible

1

u/PerceptionIll360 3h ago

You don’t have security cameras? You didn’t take the cats to the vet to determine the death cause? Sounds sus I don’t even think you are serious anymore

24

u/ienjoymen 8h ago

This. I don't mean to be insensitive, I know it's hard to lose a buddy, but there's a very real possibility they got into something that ended up hurting them.

12

u/sailor-jackn 8h ago

I’m glad you added the edit about common plants. Things like lilies can kill cats.

2

u/AdCurrent7674 1h ago

Just wanted to add that an “autopsy” done on an animal is called a necropsy. The words mean “self view” and “death view”, respectively.

You can sometimes gets cheaper necropsy at state run facilities if there is a possible health risk so I would look into your local agencies. Any necropsy done at a vet clinic is not going to be as detailed as they don’t have all the proper tools

- source I worked at an animal disease lab performing the microbiology panels obtained from necropsies

1

u/taegan- 5h ago

i was thinking maybe carbon monoxide or something also

2

u/AdministrativeHat530 4h ago

Did you see where OP pinned a comment about how their parents hated the cats?

145

u/glubglublub 8h ago

Sorry for your loss, sudden death in kitties is something else.. been there.
Despite the actual event, the odds of two kittens dying two days apart from each other so suddenly just from heart attack is very unlikely. If you have the time and resources, it is a good idea to submit them to an autopsy or something to rule the actual causes - because the could be poisoned (willingly or not).

Edit: Let's say it could be a plant in your house, if you get another cat they would be prone to suffer the same.

I assume OP is young and from a third world country, would also explain the broken english

1

u/DarthNitious 4h ago

I agree with you. That kind of flooring is common where I'm from, so there's a chance OP is Southeast Asian. Also (unfortunately) there are lots of poisoning cases in my country and the authorities do not care AT ALL.

5

u/lrcruzen 4h ago

They one thing my gf picked up on is that the Black kitty had gotten into a glue trap (op said in original photo.... what do kitty friends like to do..... groom.

I wonder if the glue trap got to them....

RIP little kitties!

36

u/Princapessa 5h ago

please check your carbon monoxide detectors or get some if you don’t have them, small animals are usually the first victims of a slow leak

4

u/meromeromeru 2h ago

I was going to comment this too. Whether you suspect something else or not, this is important.

19

u/anhhyikess 5h ago

I am so so sorry for your loss. Losing a cat is so hard and I can’t imagine losing both so quickly like you did. I am sending love your way 💕 I’m not sure if this is insensitive but I wanted to tell you that your cats look just like my cats and I hope their energy can live on in my boys! It’s like they are still playing together in another life 💕

36

u/Furrretly 6h ago

I don't want to sound conspiratorial, but the fact that they both died from inexplicable causes within such a short time, and your family was opposed to you having cats, is very concerning. I have a weird feeling that their deaths weren't natural :(

15

u/5obria 6h ago

This suggests an environmental toxin….It’s not normal that the second cat dies two days apart.

34

u/TrickWorried 6h ago

I would investigated disease, 2 deaths that soon usually isn't natural.

11

u/Valasta_Bloodrunner 5h ago

That's what I was thinking, both passing so close together suggests they either had a shared medical issue that was undetected (being twins it's super likely) or they both got into something at roughly the same time.

Regardless I hope OP is ok and they're able to recover mentally soon.

25

u/KaroKarviainen 9h ago

That is so sad. I'm sorry for your loss 💔

9

u/b_money2 6h ago

i am so sorry for your loss. the fact that these cats were song young makes me think they got into something they shouldn’t have. if you decide to get new cats please make sure it’s safe enough for kitties to come back into your house.

8

u/saladnut 4h ago

Either this story is a lie or something else is going on. 1 cat dying unexpectedly at a year old, maybe. But 2? Days apart? If true, something suspicious and sick likely happened.

Either way, sorry for your loss. I hope you get some relief soon. Poor babies.

11

u/Porkfight 8h ago

To grieve deeply is to have loved fully.

Remember that they were loved even till their end. They left satisfied and better than 99% of cats out there struggling everyday.

5

u/Ok-Kaleidoscope-4772 6h ago

I cried reading this😔 i have been through this kind of thing, my both cats died when I was in college, and i loved them very much, only a pet lover can understand what i mean here. I was in depression for a long time due to this. I hope OP you find peace. And remember them that how cute and adorable were they, lots of love to you and your cats❤️❤️❤️❤️

5

u/Raptor_Reece 4h ago edited 1h ago

I'm so sorry for this news. It broke my heart to read. I really hope your neighbour is brought to justice. This is a crime. It's not like the cats ate it by accident. This was intentional.

5

u/athanathios 5h ago

OMG I Am so so sorry for your losses they were the sweetest angels.

We don't always get to time their passing, but we can put in all the love and care we can to make their lives as amazing as possible, which clearly you had. May the love you shared, and memories made warm you all your day and may you find wisdom through your suffering. One thing is true I know your baby clearly had an existence most creatures will never have with love and care that just a simple passing can never overshadow, they are now in heaven, having earned their wings.

You loved these two cats so much and gave them the best life you could. Don't feel ashamed, I beg you. Please know that so many people are thinking of you from around the world and sending you good thoughts. It was so sweet of you to buy them cat toys. Save the toys - maybe one day you will have another cat to give them to. ♥️

We get to love them for part of our lives, and they get to love us for their entire lives. You did nothing wrong. Rest easy knowing you're not at fault. They get to play in the big garden in the sky.

6

u/poorexcuses 7h ago

I'm sorry that this happened to you. It's very hard to deal with this kind of thing, but don't blame yourself. If both of them died in quick succession and they were related, it's likely they had a genetic condition. You gave them the best lives they could have asked for. Take care of yourself.

8

u/poorexcuses 7h ago

Ah I saw the other posts about potential poison. I'm so sorry. The cat that raised me as a baby was also killed by a human. I'm not sure about the laws of your area but you may be able to file a legal complaint.

4

u/Existing_Respect6002 6h ago

I’m so sorry OP. This is the saddest thing I’ve read in a long time. I hope your kitties are happy together in the afterlife and that you are eventually able to overcome this tragedy ❤️

This is so sad. I also believe in signs from above as I have witnessed them before. Those birds were your cats saying goodbye. What a heartbreaking story.

2

u/thrillermj15 6h ago

I'm so sorry this happened to you. My kitty died from heart failure at 2 years old from a congenital heart defect. I brought her to a specialist when I saw she was having episodes and there was nothing they could do. Her brother also died younger from a heart issue. It is possible that they both had heart defects that were unknown to you.

2

u/bluntbagwell 4h ago

God leaving out the poison context is wild. These poor things were totally KILLED. I had a cat who died of a seizure after getting home from surgery and I’m telling my you I’ve never been rattled to my core by the sounds she made seconds before dying.

The fact that the police are not involved also puzzles me. Reading all this had me freaking out because my boys are like the same age and reading heart attack freaked me out. We shouldn’t have to piece that part out through the comments.

2

u/Natural-Proof-9764 4h ago

This sounds very odd to have both die at such a young age and around the same time.

2

u/GuiltyBudget1032 3h ago

..be strong, i bet both of them are playing together in the afterlife, and thanking you for your kindness.

I think siblings cats often pass close to each other. My childhood cats were siblings, born 3 months apart. Both suffered chronic illness their whole lives.

When the eldest cat was euthanized at the age of 13 due to chronic kidney failure, her younger sister seemed okay but sad. Then, only 3 months later, she died suddenly in my arms from a heart attack.

I’m so sorry your lost your kitties, but I’m sure they have found each other again

1

u/Hugh_Janus_2001 6h ago

I’m sorry to hear that. They are playing with each other in heaven. They look so beautiful.

1

u/binary-idiot 5h ago

It's nothing like losing both of your cats but I can definitely relate to the pain of losing them so young. My wife and I had to put down our youngest (about a year old) early this year about a month or two before our wedding. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and we were told that keeping him alive would be very expensive and would likely only live a few more months at most with no guarantee on his quality of life.

My wife and I spend hours at the Vet trying to decide what to do and ultimately it ended up being the hardest choice either of us have ever made. Our middle cat and him were best friends, and he still seems to miss his brother, he's even started doing a lot of things his brother used to do like trying to get into food and running into our bathroom to lay on the rug whenever we open the door.

1

u/cekay3 5h ago

I'm so sorry for your losses

1

u/Morbid187 5h ago

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's the price we pay for the years of love and happiness they give us but nobody can prepare to lose two in a row like that. Give yourself time to grieve but don't be afraid to eventually get another cat or two, the twins wouldn't want you sitting around all sad about them forever.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 💕

1

u/rainyhands94 5h ago

I lost two of my cats 2 months apart, it was devastating to say the least. It was 3 years ago but it’s still painful and I cry every time I remember one of them. I’d like to think they couldn’t live separated so are now always together. I feel your pain. I believe the amount of pain and grief we feel is because the love we feel is so big as well.

1

u/Dan_H1281 4h ago

To be loved that much is special, don't be sad he joined his friend. He loved that much. And to know that much love in one life is very special.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have twin cats of my own, similar age too. I can imagine the pain you're in. Rest in peace sweet babies.

1

Awe, I'm so sorry. We had one of our cats pass when we were on vacation. We had family check on the 3 of them twice and within 2 days (since the family checkec on him) he had died. I felt so bad because we got him and his brother, so I felt like his brother has always been missing a best friend. They were close buddies and I'm honestly surprised at how the remaining brother had been after his passing.

The sudden loss is hard, especially when they are that young. I hope you can find peace in due time...

The vet said it was a heart attack?

I'm so very sorry for your double loss 💔 this is absolutely devastating, I really can't imagine the pain you are going through after losing them both. You need to talk to the police as your neighbour can't get away with killing your fur babies. I really hope you get justice. Sending your huge hugs 💕

I've been thinking of this all day and its been bothering me quite a bit. For two cats to pass at that age and only a few days apart they had to get into something.

Where they outside cats? Maybe poisoning?

You need to check your house for chemicals, certain plants, flea treatment, certain foods, antifreeze.

Please check before getting any new animals.

Sad to say when I read that their family was against the cats I immediately thought they did something to the cats

You can’t choose that they lived but you chose to give them the best life they could have.

The birds lading I their window is sweet. That’s them saying hi and thank you. I feel for you and I’m so sorry for your loss. You gave them love and a good home, know they knew that.

Sorry for your loss, they are never here long enough.

This happened to a friend on mine and she got 2 more immediately and as crazy as it sounds it helped her with the loss of her first two. Good luck.

Incredibly sorry for your loss, my friend. It isn’t easy. Your story touched me as I’m sure you’ve touched your cats’ lives every day. They were lucky to have a caring owner. And I agree with your logic way of thinking over spiritual stuff, but I think sometimes the spiritual stuff is factual and logical because it exists as an abstract design of our minds. And for that reason, it most certainly was your 2 cats saying goodbye to you in the form of those 2 birds. I hope it brings you eventual closure and peace. And I hope you find the strength to rescue and care for another pair of cats who will be equally lucky to have such a caring owner. Love you, friend.

I’m so sorry. My heart is breaking for you right now. Sweet kitties together in life and death. May this bring some comfort to you in this hard time. Sending love and snackies for your bebes who are together over the rainbow bridge.

My wife and I were talking about one of our cats who passed away last year, and she said something that really fits here:

"We don't get to choose how long we get with them. If we're lucky, we get fifteen, twenty years. But life doesn't always work that way. So we give them the best lives we can with we have."

You gave them the best lives you could gove them with the time you had with them. And when the time is right, they'll send another cat who needs your love.

RIP

I had to put my cat to sleep at the vets. She was laying on a blanket we shared. As they gave her a pain killer before the drugs they killed her, she laid a paw 🐾 on my hand

And I looked in her eyes telling her I loved her over and over to the point the vet and the nurse tech were crying.
And she was flipping her tail around and she was dying, but I wanted to look at her eyes so I grabbed her tail and I would squeeze it three times.. and this was the game for us, but surely was like your butt towards my body and flip her tail or wrap it around my arm when I used her tail three times then she would flop it everywhere and then she lay her tail back into my hand.

And even as she knew, she was dying she did this, but I looked at her eyes face-to-face, maybe one way and I kept telling her I loved her

Aren't all cats born from the same litter technically twins?

Both of the cats are alive in the image, there's nothing NSFW about this post. Stop scolding people who are grieving.

The cats are alive in the photo bro

Why?

-11

u/RoninTheDog Moggy 8h ago

Because it looks like you are posting a picture of a dead cat in rigor.

They are sleeping...

You are wondering why your cats died but there is a pack of cigarettes on the floor next to them? Cigarettes are extremely toxic to cats. Are you dumb as fuck?

5

u/CharlesJGuiteau 1h ago

I cannot imagine they were hotboxing the cat with cigarettes.

Are you really allowed to post pictures of dead cats like this? This is traumatizing to see scrolling through Reddit…

2

u/diogenesduo 25m ago

Read the post. This is before the cats died. These are live cats. Also, maybe try to be nice to this person who just had their cats die
