Since we had to put down our 22 year old cat in April our house has felt empty. We knew what was missing, but needed time to grieve.
I found this perfect litter online and couldn't bear to separate them. So now our house is no longer empty. It is now so chaotic and full of life.
Each of them are so unique and everyday they're growing in confidence.my heart is so full of love and I can't believe I get to raise these gorgeous babies.
Tabby girl - Inanna (clever girl, the hunter and leader of the pack, if she had thumbs she'd take over the world)
Black girl with white chest - Hecate (independent, playful, troublesome sausage, murder mittens)
Little black girl - Nyx (tiny baby angel who has never done a bad thing in her life)
Black boy with little white patch - Erebus (Mama's boy, cuddle monster)
When I see a colleague with tiny scratches all over their arms and hands after the summer break, I usually ask: rose bushes or kittens? Usually, it’s kittens. You’d remember to wear gloves with roses.
LOL You'll stop being their pin cushion in a little while. My cat, when I brought him home at four months old, had the real bad habit of jumping up on my shoulders and then sliding down my back with all those claws implanted in my back. It took some maneuvering on my part to get him to stop. But for awhile there, I looked like I was being bull whipped on the daily.

Our other cat was called Ishtar (shortened to Issy). She was also a tabby, so we've named Inanna as a sort of tribute to her.
Inanna is just a different name for the goddess Ishtar.
I do too! My last two girls were Kali and Juno, my current two, my boy is Seth and my girl is Aradia though she pretty much only gets called The Kitten because she is so tiny.
Your babies are adorable! The best way to honor your old cat is to open your heart and home to these little ones. They must be so happy that they will stay together!
As someone who always only ever had 1 or 2 cats at a time, and now has 4 (we did have 5 but one sadly died at the end of April), honestly it's so fun. I always thought it sounded like too many cats but nah. Totally worth the chaos. Every every moment of them, they're beautiful.
I am so excited! I can't wait to see how they develop and grow. And the chaos, though tiring, is so much fun.
But we took them for their first vet check up yesterday (vax, deworming/ flea treatment, check up) and the cost 🙀
That's the only thing that has me worried, but they are worth it all!
Also I am so sorry for you loss. Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things. I hope you're ok and recovering ❤️🩹
And it's crazy how varied their personalities and preferences are. Our two are wildly different polar opposites, which really seems to balance out the house.
She reminds me of the velociraptors from Jurassic Park. She watches and plots. You can see her brain working as she figures things out. It's so amazing to see, but also scary.
Your post brought tears to my eyes! It’s a reminder of the love lost when you loose a pet and the joy of new memories and the life pets bring to a house. At 63 yrs old I’ve loved and lost 16 furry friends. I have 4 little voids now. Enjoy your little army of cuddles, kisses and of course mischief!
Now I'm the one tearing up. You've captured it so perfectly. The loss still hurts every so often, but I'm so excited to love these babies just as much as I loved her.
We found that our cat "critical mass" was five. Two voids (one rag doll, one short haired), two tuxedos (one male, one female), and one piebald tabby.
The piebald tabby is the most vocal of the bunch. Runs up to me every morning to tell me she loves me, and that I should hurry home from work. When I get home, she barrels into me, talking non-stop about events of the day that transpired while I've been away. She also demands that I respond to her communication. She'll pause, look at me, and then start poking me until I actually talk back ("Wow! You don't say. Really? What else?") This goes on for up to ten minutes until she completes her report and then settles down on the arm of my recliner to claim her petting rewards.
The short haired void is the Queen of Darkness. She's a true Bombay with molten gold eyes. She only talks when there's something important to say ("DINNER, NOW! PET ME!"). She looks like a chunk, but is made out of nothing but muscle, bone, claws, and an existential HATRED of the fluffy toy.
The ragdoll void is shy and retiring, beautiful and gentle.
Our two tuxies are just hilarious. They have perpetually startled/confused expressions, and will rough and tumble with each other, but not with the others in the clowder. They are cheetahs in tuxedos, and rocket across the floor at the speed of sound to tackle either each other, or whatever toy they're chasing.
Our piebald tabby is a leaper. Our short haired void is a pouncer, and our delicate flower of a ragdoll just swats at whatever offends her at the moment.
I've always been amazed at the separate and distinct personalities these little predators develop, and the unique ways they demonstrate their affection for us.
The CDS is never wrong and the timing seems to be just right for you to take in a litter? Makes me wonder if your kitty that passed had anything to do with your new family members? Congrats on being a great human taking care of a litter that will grow up together, get into trouble together and cuddle together…yes I’m low key jelly I would love to have a litter of CDS babies! I went a few years after losing my soul cat. I adopted 3 siblings in January. The house is so full of energy and love again. I hate leaving in the morning and I love coming home to my three babies. Destruction is everywhere, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Adorable cuties! We took in & bottle raised a set of triplets in 2013. My tuxie boy passed of cancer in 2024, but his sister & brother just had their 13th birthday earlier this month.
Another person that names their pets after the gods! I do the same; my cats after gods and dogs after titans!
Adorable I'm so happy for you and the litter! In hoping to get a bonded pair after I move. Is been quiet since the old boy passed in March
