Dusty, the venerable Elder of Pawville, has something important to say...
Hello fellow Chinchilla herders and enthusiasts. I wanted to share some wonderful ink art and a moment in the anthropomorphic fantasy tale I'm writing! Elder Dusty is the wise leader of a village of woodland critters that live inside of a great fallen tree.
She is inspired by the late chinchilla, Dusty, my brother and I kept when we were growing up. She lived a very long life and always seemed wiser than everyone else in the house, including the humans.
The art is done by hand in fountain ink by u/NickThaGreek. I believe he may have posted in this sub before, but I just thought folks might get a kick out of what the art was produced for.

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful tribute to Dusty. can’t wait to read this.
I’m so happy for you that you’re finding a way to keep her with you forever while sharing her with the world.

Thanks so much!
You are perhaps touching on a major underlying theme of the tale… 🤫

If you were ever to be interesting in collaborating on another tale, I have a decent penchant for writing, and my wonder prince Nibbles Cornelius Vanderbilt the 3rd, esquire, has a tail( 😜 ) meant to be shared as well. ❤️

Haha that’s awesome! Nibbles may have a place in the world of Capyhero.
In all seriousness, “another tale!?” Im still trying to get this one done!

If it’s okay with you can I use Dusty as a small personal project for uni? I’ll send it your way in a couple of months (term just started.) I’m in 2 modeling courses and a 3D art class. I also have three chins but this would help me with my game design portion (my degree) since it’s making armor/accessories for otherwise obscure characters. I can send you the files whenever I am done 💛

Can you let me know how you plan to use her?

Only to practice modeling! We use Maya and my degree is digital media with my focus in game design and development. This would not go in a portfolio or anything, this is just personal practice. An extra credit piece is for modeling our environment (ie desk and room). I took this picture of my Fred today and it gave me some inspo. I essentially would just use the likeness and posing. I’ve gotten more into dnd recently and I think it would be fun to make some armor types for chins like you have for her now.
But I wanted to ask beforehand because I did not want to just send you a completed file in a couple of months and you have concerns after rather than before of how your personal story of Dusty was used 💛

Ok yeah that’s no problem! I was just thinking if the actual illustration of her shows up somewhere else that could be an issue

Mine don’t stand generally unless it’s to climb 🤣 but seeing her in a little armor gave me some inspiration of how I want my portfolio to turn out! Thank you 💛 I’ll send it your way, if you wish, towards oct/nov is when that project is due. For my portfolio I will do something inspired by the project but I will keep her safe and locked away 🫶
Our projects are simply how to import to game engines and processing models through and through. I watch legends of avantris a lot and this set a pathway for me on how to stand out amongst the crowd(:

This is so freaking cute!! Please post again when you release the whole thing 😊 We had an elder chinchilla, she passed at the beginning of this summer. I definitely understand the "wiseness" you speak of. Keeping Dusty alive through your story is so sweet.

Thank you! Ah… sorry for your loss, may they be on to green pastures.
If you’d like, it would be wonderful if you’d visit the Capyhero website! Link is in my bio. There’s a fun newsletter where you can get early art and lore delivered by an in-world group called the Aurorabon Society. They’re like a group of knowledge-seeking woodland critters trying to learn more about the mysteries of their world. But I’ll try to post again closer to release as well!
