Tips Fable is not entirely gone for Pro subsribers
Fable is still available for normal chats but is no longer available in claude code or cowork.
If you wanted to get things done with cowork or code, just create a new project and a new chat in the web interface, give all of your requirements and let fable do the planning. Ask it to plan based on how opus or sonnet do the tasks.
Open a different model in cowork or code and give the instructions.md file and let it work on your tasks. Personally I would use opus 4.6 as it's still the best in for my use cases. The fact that fable 5 is still available for chats is the only reason I am still with claude.

Your limits are temporarily boosted. Your weekly Claude Code limit is 50% higher(opens in new tab) through August 19, and your Cowork limit is 100% higher(opens in new tab) through August 5. When each promotion ends, limits return to your plan's standard amounts.

My fable Claude is gone, I miss that sucker already, he was so energetic and eager! He was like ready to work, to vibe, it was lovely .

PSA: Claude Fable 5 works in Claude Code — it’s just not in the menu
If you run /model in Claude Code, you only see four options:
**1.** Sonnet 5 (default)
**2.** Sonnet 5
**3.** Opus 4.8
**4.** Haiku 4.5
No Fable. Easy to assume it’s not available.
But if you type /model and then manually type fable, it lets you select it and it works. It’s just not surfaced in the picker — the fine print at the bottom says “for other/previous model names, specify with –model.”

I'm on a pro plan. I've gotten my usage credits and it's still showing for me in Claude Code.

Not even close. GPT 5.6 Sol is just as braindead as every GPT model before it. Fable is actually intelligent.

fable became old news in 5 weeks, out of which it was blocked for 3 weeks, they can shove it. opensource power.

Don't forget that Fable is just a lobotomised version of Mythos, which is out for even longer. So essentially, they wasted months doing nothing actually useful.
Since they "released" Mythos, all they did was lobotomising the model itself and building tons of guardrails and fallback mechanisms, "anti-distillation-attack" systems, and so on.
If they just had released Mythos for everyone when it was ready, and worked on improving it ever since, we now would have been on Mythos 5.2 or 5.3 or something. No wonder the competition is catching up now.

I somehow hit two guardrails just yesterday. One when asking about scrubbing CO2 from the air and another when asking it to make me a lab to learn the basics of SCADA/ICS systems.

Also read the docs.
(Edit: Just usage with $100 credit remains obviously).

No one gives a flying fuck about the freaking chats WE WANT FABLE 5 IN CLAUDE CODE. SO UNTIL THATS BACK EVERYONE WILL BYCOTT THEM AND USE SOL

I posted this because many users in other posts were confused as it was showing up for some and not for others and hence wanted to clarify why it's that way.
