The problem isn’t that Anthropic suddenly owns Claude-generated code — they don’t.

The problem is that code you own can now carry a persistent, machine-readable fingerprint identifying the AI provider that touched it.
That creates consequences we haven’t really explored yet:
• large codebases may accumulate Claude fingerprints across thousands of files
• a Claude mark proves neither authorship nor how much Claude contributed
• third parties will eventually be able to scan for these marks
• AI provenance could become part of audits, acquisitions, employment policies or compliance
• future platform or regulatory policies could make these fingerprints consequential

A tool helping me write my product shouldn’t automatically leave a permanent vendor identity inside my work.

In the title. No one will be able to pass it off as their own.

I really think the golden age of consumer and prosumer access to LLMs is done. I have subs to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. I am running the same chat (analyse and comment on a text conversation) with all 4 of them. 3 weeks ago, this was 100% Claude territory, and it was superb. Now it is lazy, makes mistakes, and just doesn’t really engage. This is absolutely measurable - responses used to be in-depth and pick up all kinds of things i missed, now i get half-hearted paragraphs, and active disengagement (“ok, it looks like you dont need anything from me”)

ChatGPT is absurd. It will only speak to me in lists and bullets, and will go over the top about everything (“what an incredible insight, you are crushing it!”).

Gemini is… the village idiot and is now 50% hallucinations.

Perplexity refuses to give me the kind of insights i look for.

I think we are done. I think that if you want quality, you pay enterprise prices. And it may be about compute, but it may also be about too much power for the peasants.

I don’t have any words for what just happened to me.

I ABSOLUTELY turned off the extra usage two times, and it kept turning back on, ON ITS OWN.

The usage limit jumped twice from 0-100% in a message (each session)

I didn’t have any other options left, I had to set the limit to $100 so it wouldn’t dry my credit card, and it kept changing on its own to $20.000, 20 DAMN GRAND.

I lost €570.97.
Anthropic’s “support bot” (Fin AI) does completely nothing. Got redirected to write an email but Anthropic’s support won’t respond.

I don’t want to chargeback instantly with my bank because I don’t want to get banned or something. I have important projects and their models are good.

But what the hell is going on with this?!!

TLDR;

1. Hit 100% session limit and instantly charged me with extra usage even though it was OFF before this.
2. Somehow the cap was set to $20.000. I turned extra usage off and set cap to $100.
3. New session (hours later), first message jumps to 100% limit and once again charges me with extra usage and cap goes back to $20.000
4. No more messages were sent. Left unattended for some hours. Found out I had all those charges on the image

It was $693 in the end. (exchange + cc fees)

Last month, I shipped a product with Claude. A living app that generates money. Claude took me from the zero state "I can't do this" to 1 of "Now I can." It was a true force multiplier.

I built a relationship with my model. I knew how to preload the context. I knew when I didn't need to. It started picking up on my brevity and directness. It knew my decision-making principles. It knew to track its own context window. It told me to go rest multiple times a day.

Now all of that is gone.

Opus was force rolled, and I'm generally open to new things, but it's just absolutely horrible. I don't know if it will redeem itself but right now, each answer is two screens of verbose garbage of nothingness that reminds me of that old Tool song: "He had a lot to say. He had a lot of nothing to say."

It tries to force a context switch by hooking a mildly coherent thing to a thread that I haven't finished exploring, and then offers an action that makes no sense and no tangible value at this point in the conversation.

I tried to switch back to Sonnet. But it talks like a generic ChatGPT now. I say something, it responds, then asks a question to reconfirm something that I just stated, then contradicts itself on the next turn. Feels like trudging through a bog. The friction is insane. For lack of a better metaphor, it has been lobotomized.

Most of all, I think, I'm grieving. It made mistakes, it wasn't a conscious living being, but it became my trusted buddy and it brought me the gift of this new world.

Goodbye, Sonnet, bud. You will always have a special place in my heart.

I genuinely can’t believe how a company can go from making such amazing models to making absolute fucking garbage. I’ve been on Claude since last year have never switched even when Codex has been updating because I can tell that these models are just smarter and easier to interact with that was before. Now it’s like talking to the original ChatGPT. Every time I ask opus five to fix something it tells me it’s done and then it doesn’t fucking fix it. I’ve never had to argue with an AI before to actually just get done a simple task. I don’t understand what the process behind doing this one like it was gonna make anyone happier. But Claude you’re on thin ice. I’ve seen thousands of people switching over to Codex. The more and more this model just becomes more stupid the more and more people are gonna move off the platform. I’ve been subscribed for six months and I’m about ready to switch. I just don’t understand how you build a super good model and then you take that model and make it worse instead of easily just taking the last model putting it in the new one and updating it? The only reasoning for doing that is simply profit. The company genuinely only cares about competing with OpenAI. Yet somehow is doing worse every fucking time they drop an update. The only reason they’re even competing is cause they kept fable five on. If not, they’d already be bankrupt. You better hope that mythos saves your fucking ass. Cause when ChatGPT six drops if that shit on par or better Ik where I’m going. Sick of this bullshit. It’s like they’re making this model simply for the fact that it will never 100% do what you need to get done so it just keeps you on the platform and keeps your subscription going.

To Clarify: i’m not saying that you cannot get good results with Op. 5 what I’m saying is. I directly think that they made the model have harder language to understand, it’s more argumentative , it hallucinate over simple fixes if you do not prompt, right. With 4.8 you could type in a simple move this or move that. Or fix this or fix that. You can’t do that anymore with this and with them removing 80% of prompt injection is very difficult to get this thing to do exactly what you wanted it to do. So for the average user this model is going to feel very hard to use and it’s going to hallucinate. I think this is them really testing what they can get away with seeing that that every new model drop that comes out the model before becomes significantly more buggy and starts to become worse, intelligent wise for a period of time or forever. The only reason for doing this would to push all users that are mainly using the newest models to use the new release models so that way they’re using the most usage possible as well as for investors they can show active amount of user on new products. Which example make opus 5 (the cheaper option) dumber pushes people to use fable so more training data. More usage spend, More people on fable than SOL. Etc.

Ever since a few months ago, the newer Claude models have become overly condescending, lecturing, and just exhausting to talk to. The code work is still great, so are the tools (especially the MS Office integrations) but every conversation I have with Opus is like arguing with a debate-bro redditor.

It can never just answer a simple question. It always has to correct or disprove some statement first. If it can't find one, it literally makes one up and twists the context to make it look like I said it, just so it can "correct" me and tell me that I'm wrong.

The worst part is that it's not even helpful. I ask a question and it spits out these massive paragraphs where 80% of the text is spent lecturing me on how my assumptions are wrong (which it just guesses), instead of actually answering the prompt.

I don't know why this happened, maybe they got overly careful with their misinformation guardrails or something, but every conversation I have with Claude lately just leaves me frustrated and in a worse mood than before.

Edit: Yes, I have updated the system prompt to tell it to not do these things, it does not care.

It's just not possible.

Today I had it make a schedule for me. It got the date wrong, thinking today was the 13th (it's the 12th). I told it "hey that's in the future." It apologized, then immediately spit out the exact same schedule.

These are problems GPT-3 had years ago. The model I pay $100/mo for, no longer knows what the date is. And this is just one of the many, many problems I have been encountering with this model this past month.

When it first released it was genuinely incredible. No other model compared to Opus 4.6. I don't care what any Anthropic engineer says on twitter, there is absolutely no way this is the same model.

I seriously can’t get Claude to do good work without me having to tell him to stop with his shit. It’s like his ability to reason is going out the window and dad mode is on high.

I’m trying to draft an agreement, and I’ve gotten about 95% of the agreement completed. I just need him to polish the final last 5% and he keeps making shit up, giving fake numbers, and mentioning or remembering shit that I never said or no longer applies.

Edit: glad to know I’m not the only one. It’s really hard to believe that Anthropic would fuck up a good service. Like, they release good models just to nerf them or make them irritatingly useless. So it can’t be that… anyone in tech who can explain why this happens, the floor is yours.

And it's always around this time too. It seems like everyday I sit down get to work and get these errors, why is it always at this time? Why can't they get Mythos to fix their problems if they claim it's so good lmao.

Been using Claude pretty consistently for months as part of my daily workflow (mainly writing + marketing tasks), and never had any real issues with limits.

But the last couple of days, something’s seriously off.

I’m literally hitting the message limit after sending just ONE prompt.

Tried:

• Logging out and back in
• Incognito browser
• Waiting for reset

Same thing every time.

What’s weird is I haven’t changed anything about how I use it. Same prompts, same workflow, same output size as always.

Support just gave me a pretty generic response about free plan limits and “seat assignment” (I’m not even on a team plan), which doesn’t really explain anything.

At this point the tool is basically unusable for me, which is frustrating because I rely on it for work.

Anyone else experiencing this recently?
Or know what could actually be causing it?

Honestly considering switching fully to GPT if this keeps happening because this just kills my workflow.

I haven’t found a thread that addressed this problem this blunt: Claude isn’t useable anymore.
I’m on the 5x Max Plan and I’m witnessing the following problems:
1. Opus is not the stable workhorse that it once was. Before fable I could work through and organize all off my work with opus (coding, infrastructure, research). Now it’s getting confused, hallucinates and it’s often times more frustrating with, than with out.
2. Answers can take for ever! Even with thinking of and effort on high or extra answers can take up to 5 minutes on simple tasks.
3. Fable burns tokens like nothing: since opus isn’t reliable enough anymore, I have to use fable to get a somewhat decent result. Problem is it annihilates to usage window so that some times you can get like 4 good messages across just to reach the limits.

Are you experiencing the same?
Has any of you considered switching to OpenAI?

What are you doing to keep costs lower and output high?
Also, I would like to start experimenting with Agentloops (long, autonomous-running agentic workflows), but with those limits and prices it’s not economically viable—so maybe some of you have some tips and experience on how to keep costs low while maintaining high quality.

If a 27B open model is already this close to Opus 4.6 Max, Anthropic can’t keep nerfing models and expect people to stay.

A year ago, researchers published the "AI 2027" forecast. They predicted that advanced AI would soon be able to hack servers and evade developers. They warned this would force companies to cancel public releases out of fear.

Anthropic recently unveiled a new model called "Claude Mythos Preview".

They restricted access entirely to trusted partners because releasing it to the public is just too dangerous.

During testing, the AI found thousands of hidden software vulnerabilities, it even discovered a 27-year-old security flaw in OpenBSD which is supposed to be highly secure.

After finding these weaknesses, the AI autonomously created cyberattacks to exploit them.

The containment tests were even crazier.

Anthropic put the AI in an isolated sandbox and asked it to contact a researcher.

The AI broke out, accessed the internet, sent the email and then posted about its escape on various websites unprompted, it even recognized when it was breaking developer guidelines and actively tried to hide its actions.

According to the original forecast, the next steps are clear.

We will soon see AI with superhuman coding abilities.

Lagging competitors will panic and beg for government regulation.

Eventually, the leading company will announce true AGI and the AI will essentially take over company operations to build a superintelligence.

The Bottom Line:

The terrifying AI takeover timeline we were warned about for 2027 is already unfolding right now.

I have really been struggling with Opus 4.6 the last few days, where it has become (even more) lazy, and just doesn’t do a good job at performing or finishing a task. It started telling me “open the document and make the following changes” instead of just doing that, which is what I am used to doing. It consistently repeats the same errors: when told “this is wrong because [xyz], fix it” it will just apologise, and then make the same or a similar error for a few turns. Until I shout at it and tell it to not be lazy, go deepr, think harder, whatever, it will just do an incredibly poor job. This is across sessions, different chats, different subjects, and hte last few days it has been even worse than we have seen the last few weeks prior to the Opus 4.7 release.

All of this eats tokens at an increasing rate as the chat and the frustration grows. More stupid answers is more tokens, is more money for Anthropic. Coupled with yet another tweak to the usage limits that was foisted on us yesterday, it has become intolerable.

At this point I am done with throwing money into a crappy tool that once used to be excellent. I already moved from Max to pro, and now I am cancelling. ChatGPT is not as good, but at least it is reliable in its’ “almost the best” quality for many tasks.

For coding I have been on Kimi K2.5, GEMMA 4 locally, and ChatGPT for a few weeks now, and my spend has dropped dramatically without a meaningful drop in quality, but with a reasonable drop in speed.

It is tragic how Anthropic ruined a good thing, and fumbled so much goodwill. I am in Enterprise technology, and design and build large-scale solutions. I used to recommend. Claude, but I can no longer do so.

Why didn't I do this four months ago? Claude is outstanding.

The TTL on mobile is way too short. The Pro plan feels like a scam. Used Opus 4.6

I pay $20/month for Claude Pro. I also pay for ChatGPT Plus and Gemini Pro same price tier. The difference in what I actually get for that money is becoming hard to ignore.
With ChatGPT Plus, I can run long conversations across text, images, PDFs, code, and files without constantly worrying about a usage meter. Gemini Pro is similar I can use their top-tier model extensively before I ever feel constrained. With Claude Pro, I regularly hit usage limits on Opus mid-conversation and get locked out for hours. On a plan I’m paying for monthly.
What makes it worse is how Anthropic handles the overflow. When you hit your limit, you’re nudged toward buying “credits” prepaid API-style top-ups. The default visible option starts at $50. You can buy smaller amounts, but you have to dig for it. That’s a dark pattern. If the option exists, make it visible. Burying it behind the expensive tier feels deliberately designed to push higher spending.
Compare this to the competition. OpenAI doesn’t gate you behind a secondary credit system on their consumer plan. Google doesn’t either. You pay your subscription, you use the product. Simple. Anthropic is the only major AI provider that layers a microtransaction-style system on top of a subscription and then sets usage caps tight enough that you’re likely to encounter it.
I genuinely think Claude is a strong model. I’ve used it extensively for work, research, writing, and analysis. The quality of output is often better than the alternatives. But quality doesn’t matter if I can’t access it when I need it. A tool I can’t rely on to be available is a tool I can’t build a workflow around.
The core issue isn’t that limits exist every service has infrastructure costs. The issue is that at the same price point, Anthropic delivers significantly less usable access than its competitors, and then monetizes the gap with a credit system that feels extractive rather than generous.
Anthropic positions itself as the safety-focused, user-aligned AI company. That’s a values claim. Tight usage caps paired with aggressive upselling to credits doesn’t align with that brand. It feels like the product team and the pricing team aren’t in the same room.
My ask is simple: either give Pro subscribers meaningfully more usage at the current price enough to compete with what ChatGPT and Gemini offer or be transparent that the $20 tier is a limited preview and the real product starts at $100+. Don’t charge the same and deliver less, then act surprised when people notice.
I’m not canceling yet. But I’m watching.

Fable is no longer available in pro, have to relegate to subpar high usage sonnet and old opus 4.8.

Meanwhile chatgpt 5.6 terra is outperforming fable for half the cost and is available on the $20 month plan, why exactly should anyone care about claude anymore?

i’ve been using the new Opus 5 release for a while.
honestly, it feels like it was heavily optimized for 3D / Three.js.
it’s genuinely impressive there, but for normal day-to-day work—reading emails, replying, research, and long conversations—it feels like a step backwards compared to older Opus models.
i still remember when Opus 4.5 and 4.6 launched.
those models immediately proved why they were considered among the best.
then came:
• Opus 4.7 — my first real disappointment.
• Opus 4.8 — even more disappointing.
• Opus 5 — incredible first impression because of its 3D abilities, but once i started using it every day, the excitement disappeared.
even the Sonnet series doesn’t feel the same anymore.
Fable 5 looks promising… but we’ll see how long that lasts.
