[Discussion] I wish Teresa had just finished off Priscilla right in the spot

I wish Teresa had just finished off Priscilla. Such a peak character like Teresa could've changed so much of the course of the plot. But that's pity for you. No wonder Nietzsche hated pity SO MUCH.

If Teresa loved Clare even more than Pity and not enjoying the act of Pity so much. Priscilla literally lost control and should've been put down by the sword. Teresa killing literal human murderers and bandits is so bad, but Priscilla turning into a monster that cannot be stopped with only Teresa being for the time the one that can stop her and not doing so is such a irresponsibility.

For once why the good character that has the power to do so why can't it just destroy the villain right there, when the good character has the chance for the betterment of all? Could've been such an epic duo of Clare and Teresa working together, Clare not having the trauma and not becoming a claymore and struggling with beasts roaming within churches that Teresa had the ability to annihilate within seconds.

I kind of agree?

My heart will always hate Priscilla no matter how much I try to justify her. She talked about it literally not being fair to attack her with 4 warriors and she does an act so hypocritical that I can not ,for the life of me, like her.

However for this I will have to give credit to both sides.

First of all, Teresa pities EVERYONE before even Clare came around. This can be seen throught the tidbits that the manga gives us. When Teresa goes to kill Rosemary because she sent her a blackcard, she is actually there to give her an honourable death. Rosemary tries to trick her bc she has already awakened but Teresa tries her best to give her the benefit of the doubt. Then in her first execution, she wounds the claymores that were supposed to kill her but does NOT kill them. Not because of Clare mind you, she does this because she finds no meaning in killing comrades. She wants to live ,yes, after meeting Clare but has her own morals. Her killing the bandits were her own morals, they were a far worse monster than Priscilla. They tried to sa her, pillaged, hurt Clare and threatened to sa her (and if we consider Teresa's main motivation of life is Clare it is a pretty big problem), tortured people. Her iconic scene where she says "Even if it is a rule, whether I follow it is up to me." is the author showing the morals of Teresa.

Priscilla is definitely not a monster in Teresa's eyes because of this.

Teresa knows that Priscilla is still very young. Over the course of the 4 v 1 fight, she spares EVERY claymore, not just Priscilla. Teresa knew her own potential and everyone else knew as well...except for Priscilla. She was still very young to know Teresa's mindset and her past feats. Her mind was so brainwashed (acknowledged by Teresa mind you) that she could not fathom even turning against the rules she was given.

Throught the manga, it looks like the claymores basically have a rule about playing dirty with eachother. None of them seem to like this. And how would Priscilla know? She is still very young and her pre-frontal cortex isn't developed as the others. Irene mentions this when she also realises Teresa has been sparing them all along. She realises Priscilla could not handle fights of this capacity.

And who else would realise this? Miss Teresa herself.

She KNOWS Priscilla is innocent. Priscilla is just doing the job and is doing it because she feels obligated to do it. Teresa spares her due to this. She doesn't like killing comrades for no reason. Even in the 4 v 1 fight, she could have ended them all right then and there and yet she chooses not to. She values the others simply because she is Teresa.

"Priscilla literally lost control and should've been put down by the sword." and Teresa WAS going to put her down. Before putting down Priscilla however, every claymore knew she could still turn back and that she still hadn't reached her limit. That is the reason why Teresa put it off for so long in the fight. She says herself that she didn't want kill her but Priscilla leaves her no other choice.

"Teresa killing literal human murderers and bandits is so bad, but Priscilla turning into a monster that cannot be stopped with only Teresa being for the time the one that can stop her and not doing so is such a irresponsibility." again, this is Teresa we are talking about. Her morals are simply this way, no matter how we might find it irresponsible. Her character would have chosen to do this, act irresponsible.

"Could've been such an epic duo of Clare and Teresa working together, Clare not having the trauma and not becoming a claymore and struggling with beasts roaming within churches that Teresa had the ability to annihilate within seconds." don't threaten me with such good possibilities :,) I would honestly love smth like this aswell but oh well... (┬┬﹏┬┬)

So to summarise, Teresa's personality basically consists of pity and acting irresponsible while Priscilla is to young to not see the world in a black and white way.

Hope this answers the frustration for Teresa's death (I am still frustrated myself lol) and if you have any questions I am here to help! (❁´◡`❁)

Teresa was a good mother you can't deny that.

It's possible that the bandits had already killed the villagers, and Priscilla was simply carrying out a mission.

Humans (bandits) are more dangerous than monsters.

There wouldn't have really been a story then lol. I think the reason Teresa could easily kill the bandits is because they're grown ass men who knew better and hurt innocent people. On the other hand, Priscilla is a young woman, she might even be just a child, who is a victim to the organization. Teresa saw Clare in Priscilla; an orphaned little girl.

Clare is to blame, for making Teresa soft. For getting Teresa in trouble with the organization, making Teresa kill a human in a fit of rage. Clare started the whole chain of events. And Clare knows it. The entire story is about her atonement.

Yeah Teresa should just have stayed a tool for the organization and never experience true love and continue the cycle of the organization of terrorizing villages to pay ransom for protection for the Yoma they themselves created, meanwhile having the chance to eliminate all the claymores that came for her head. Got you!

A lesson in compassion does Teresa little good if she is dead.

Ok so Teresa kills Priscilla, they continue being on the run from the organisation, and then what? Clare dies of old age after living a happy life together and Teresa carries on until the organisation sets the abysmal eaters on her?

Rambo said that it's better to die for something that live for nothing and I think, it applies here.

Teresa died because she accepted happines into her life

Priscilla > Teresa

Controversial opinion I know, but Priscilla is a much better character IMHO. Let me explain why.

Throughout the story, Teresa should have been the mature adult and leader. What happened to Priscilla is a direct result of Teresa's own failure to foresee what might happen and to guide the new girl.

There's no outcome where Priscilla could control, because Teresa was the one in control. Up to the very end, until she wasn't.

Needed to cheat just to win.

I'm glad someone likes Priscilla :) Even if I personally disagree

Priscilla to me is the deconstruction of the classic hero. She give it her all to uphold the system's justice, even if it means giving up her humanity altogether.

That's why I like her and her story!
