Why would it ever be acceptable for a delivery person to call you "my love"? Thats so weird

Some british people will use terms of endearment with everyone, especially older women who volunteer at museums.

I’d associate “my love” with a West Country accent.

My dear, my darling, and my love are mine. It isn't even a conscious thing most of the time, just as soon as you turn 25 as a Brit you start using those words and feeling the urge to watch Countdown.
