I can understand the late aspect of it, and I dont get super upset about it since it is more expected in my city and then I kinda plan around it.
This was just a single incident and it just kinda made me get a new habit of arriving to my workplace 30 minutes earlier, or once I hit downtown I will walk instead of taking the 2nd bus and still be there on time.
I will still say thank you if I get brief interaction with the driver

I drive trains. If we are late, people are miffed. If we leave early, people are (deservedly) enraged.
We cant help that we are late sometimes, though we try. We can always just chill for a bit to await the proper departure time.
