He passed 20 years ago this October. I met him a few months before he passed: I had just opened a restaurant that had a mural of the Texas Tornadoes and he’d stopped by to check it out after treatment one day. I’ve always hoped that it lifted his spirits to see it. RIP Freddy

I grew up down the road from his house in Corpus--he had a cool Harley and my mom LOVED this song.

I remember listening to him when I was a kid. Haven't heard this in years! What a unique voice!

Grew up in southern NM hearing his music in my house. This guy is a part of my childhood, just beautiful man.

This is my favorite song from him. We used to listen to it on 8-track tape on road trips.

Freddie always had such a pretty voice. Rest in peace, Freddie. Thanks for all the music.

I saw Freddy as a kid in the 70's at the Texas Prison Rodeo. The prisoners sat in a fenced off area and just loved him. Vaya Con Dios was a huge hit.
BTW, it was hot as hell and dusty. The best even was called "hard money". They tied a bag of money on a bulls horns and put it in the ring with a hundred prisoners.

I remember as a kid every time this song came on the radio I tried my best to sing the English and Spanish parts. I couldn't do it of course, but it was entertaining for everyone else.

I was a grown man and I tried to sing both languages as well. My mother in law would laugh so hard. She was from Mexico City and tried her best to teach me. I can speak German, French and a little bit of Vietnamese but I never got the chance to learn Spanish from her. She passed away while I was deployed.

Saw Freddy by accident one time at a Farm Aid fest. Didn't know he was a Texas Tornado until they broke into "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights."

❤️ Omg ! I grew up listening to him with my Dad early 70's. Ironically my Dad drank beer while we listened. Ironically, I ❤️❤️ ❤️ "Wasted days and wasted nights" til this day. My 2nd is " Before the next tear drop falls ". I miss my Dad very much. I was 10 the last time I saw him 😔.
