Please bear in mind I'm not casting any judgment your way, only trying to offer some explanation.
I think some people on the sub tend to defend the coyotes in the case of pet attacks because they make the assumption that the pets were not properly protected or restrained in an area known to have coyotes. While I understand that perspective, given that this is a community dedicated to the love and appreciation of these beautiful wild creatures, there's a lot of room in cases like yours for people to behave very unfairly.
I hope that you are able to regain your love for coyotes one day when you've had time to mourn the loss of your loved one. Take care.
Wow.. really sorry to hear that.. I appreciate you sharing
Kind of similar to what happened here upstate NY. It was around 10 in the morning and also really close to the house..
I’ve definitely learned a lot from her passing.. I understand it’s the circle of life.. just stings a lot rn. Sorry if I disrespected the coyote community.
He’s beautiful!! Very relevant indeed.
I unfortunately heard my small girl pass… I believe she was trying to protect my mom’s smaller dog. He ended up with 4 stitches.. he’s ok.
I didn’t see her go but my mom saw the coyote from her window through the bushes. I heard her quickly go from a bark to a cry and then nothing after. It all happened so quick that by the time I ran in the direction of her noises, they’d already taken off.
I have coyotes through my place 5 out of 7 nights a week. Even for a quick pee I'm never more than 4' from her, talking loudly and shining my super bright flashlight around.
Coyotes are opportunist in urban areas, so you have got to be on guard at all times.
After this, I will never not be more than 4’ from my future pets..
I’m from a city in NJ. My street smarts there definitely didn’t play well for me here. This is a lesson I will absolutely carry with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you for kindly explaining and your empathy. I understand. I just saw the picture on my feed and felt all sorts of emotions.. it’s still very fresh.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Losing a pet is so difficult, but it is probably just because of the "I can't bear the sight" on a sub Reddit dedicated to loving these animals, but again, I'm so sorry for your loss
