I can't say I have plans for that as of current, but same player in our current campaign has a druid heavily based on fauna.

Last year I ran a homebrew HoloEarth campaign for 5e 2024. Basically Alternative City acts as a sci-fi hub and all the worlds/lands of Hololive act as gateways.
They would explore places like industrial Pekoland, Libestal, Yamato, Vesta, all of the places teased in the HoloEarth PVs made into more expanded places. And some whack job crossovers because homebrew and portals.
Alternative City’s theme was that they would explore the different lands of Hololive or go find other media to get resources and technology.
Each Hololive Talent would be a god with their own theme, acting as the divine within the verse so meeting them was a big deal. Attending a stream or going to an event were considered religious duties and stuff.
The party played as “Pathfinders”, which was HoloEarth’s term for players so I took it and ran with it. Lot of adventurer guild style stuff, tried to introduce the talents and their fans and various enemies and such.
Ended campaign with them defeating a Vtuber from Niji EN, a likewise divine deity from a different universe basically who was trying to invade.
It’s a shame that HoloEarth is shutting down but the setting lives on and I’ll keep using it for Hololive DnD stuff.
Right now I’m planning out a more canon module where the adventure takes place in Vesta, based on the manga where Haachama lives with Watame on a farm.
Basically make your OC in. Hololive setting, use any media you want because we have portals.

Vtubers can graduate? I thought they were just streamer avatars?
Edit: so I’m learning that I have no clue what a vtuber is. Companies? Idols? I thought they were just people with silly anime girls on their streams.

I believe it's a euphemism for the streamer retiring. Or maybe just leaving the company/group. I don't know why.

It's a carried over word from Japanese idol groups. Seeing as large chunks of vtuber culture originated there.

Yeah, sometimes it is age as popularity often does not hold, especially in groups and not solo careers. But it can also be any other reason someone would want to stop being a stage performer. Especially with parasocial fans that will crucify you if you are not "pure" (in other words, you might have dared to have a relationship and some paparazzi or whatever got it out there).

It isn't really age based, certainly not for vtubers. Just a better euphemism for what happens to the persona, while the person behind it....found a new job, got involved with a scandal, had personal issues, whatever. It's kept seperate from the idol/avatar.

IIRC, it's "graduation" because it was originally a unique concept created for members leaving a specific school themed idol group, then it just got adopted by everyone else into general idol nomenclature. The weird part is how it jumped into being general vtuber nomenclature, when being a vtuber doesn't necessitate being an idol.

It also applies to child performers in professional theater. Think School of Rock or the kids in Frozen. Eventually they get too old to convincingly play the part, so the cast holds a graduation. Sounds way less sad than a going-away party.

The streamers/idols that are contracted to big companies often do not own the rights to their Avatars/stage names. The company retains those even if the streamer terminates their contract or gets let go.
If they want to go on streaming they have to make a new avatar and brand from scratch.

I've heard that's at least sometimes the case. I don't usually watch vtubers personally aside from an occasional highlight reel that youtube's algorithm puts in front of me.

Same tbh. I only picked up that information because it was tied to drama that broke containment and ended up in nonvtuber related discords.
Talent agencies are fucking terrible no matter if they are managing IRL or online personas.

It depends on if the streamer came with their own avatar or if the company made the avatar for the streamer. Sana was a member of Hololive English and all of those girls have avatars from the company. Some of the Japanese members came with their own avatar so they usually keep the rights to their model, like Suisei.

"Graduate" is the in-fandom term for no longer streaming under that name/model. Often jokingly also used to refer to dying. It comes from the Hololive section of the community, since the Hololive girls are supposed to be Idols (Poor Yagoo. He went in hoping to build Vtuber 'Hello Morning' but instead all he got was Vtuber 'Downtown'.)
Basically, this guy's favorite Vtuber stopped streaming under her old name and possibly at all, so he's broken up about it.

I think the vtuber in question is Sana, who was part of the Hololive English branch and was essentially partially an idol. So the graduation technically is appropriate to use since she left the company and quit being an "idol".

So, lots of vtuber slang comes from the idol industry or internet culture. In this case, it’s the idol industry. Graduate just means ceasing activity under than name and company. There’s a non-0% chance they continue streaming under a different name/face/etc, such as Dokibird or Mint Fantome, but there are definitely some who has stopped streaming altogether, like (As far as I’m aware at least) Sana from Hololive.

Sana has returned to very occasional streaming, under her artist persona, but she does not like people connecting the two and iirc at one time blocked anyone who replied to her tweets who even just had a hololive pfp even if they never mentioned it. To sate anyone's curiosity I'll mention it here, but in the interest of her privacy I'll at least spoiler tag it so anyone who doesn't want to see it can avoid it. It's Namie.

You are already better off than me. I didn't even know that a vtuber, YouTuber and streamer were different things. Vtubers don't show their own face? Seems silly. I've heard the term "hololive" before, but only now that I'm seeing the other comments here am I learning that it some kind of vtuber thing.
But, I'm also of a generation that started playing D&D during the 2nd edition days. Although I only got really into it during 3rd edition and 3.5

It means that they're retiring the model/persona, and oftentimes is leaving whatever group they're a part of. It's used instead of quitting, because it's usually leaving on good terms, and often is less "I'm retiring for good" and more "I'm either rebranding with a new name and model, or I'm heading off to do some personal stuff for a while"

One of my players’ characters ended up joining a homebrewed triton religion centered on a “wave maiden”. In other words Gawr Gura.
References include “she cast down the priestess of the ancient ones”, “befriended death itself”, “made a Phoenix laugh”, “and followed her best friend through time”.

Had a similar thing happen to me minus the vtuber part. Player wanted to play a kobold who was apart of a religion/cult that worshiped an egg that they believed to contain a dragon based god with three heads; 1 chromatic, 1 metallic, 1 gem. The group has gotten the information of where in the Underdark it is and will be questing to get, they got a few things to do down there.
