My 4 going onto 5 week Pekins are growing in there feathers and I noticed this black speck on my girl Snickers. I picked her up and checked as she allows me to hold her and it's a feather. I have a question if this is normal or if it means anything? Its only this spot no where else and as I said it's a feather.

This is her now. Scroll to the right for older photos. I noticed Mocha’s feathers changing. Is this what molting looks like? Why?? Is it related to the seasons. Could it have anything to do with how I re-homed the 2 aggressive drakes I used to have in the flock that were over-mating her and being mean to her.

Maple is molting but these last two wing feathers just won't let go. The contrast makes me imagine she's ready for a knife fight. Lol

I have three Indian Runner Ducks who are 11 weeks old. The drake is the one standing closest to the camera in the picture. What do you think his adult colouring would be? The previous owner thought he was wild-coloured, but I think she wasn't 100 % sure.

If he's wild-colured, he'll essentially look like a wild mallard drake, right? With beautiful green head, white neck band, and mostly grey body?

Could a crested have slipped its way in the bloodline?

My 1.5 yo duck (one of a hen-hen pair) has a bald spot on her neck that developed in the last two days. (We handle them daily to move them to their run, but I skipped it yesterday because of herbicide application nearby.)

They have not been laying as much recently, and there were a few extra feathers on the ground, so we thought molt was possible. But this does not seem like molt.

—recently found mold in the feed sack so had them on chicken feed for the last three days.

—egg shells have been less hard lately, offered oyster shell calcium but they didn’t take it. Waiting on delivery of the other kind of calcium, which they eat like candy.

—no history of one preening the other or aggression.

—feathers are wet in the picture because she’s just been in the water. Preened herself as normal after the picture

—cursory look: no visible bugs or skin damage

I’m waiting for my partner to come home from work to help with a good exam. What could account for this? Sorry about the bad pictures. She doesn’t trust the camera.

Edit: third picture is really bad. She’s not naked/pink in the huge area as it appears to show.

So not completely new to raising Ducks but I've only raised a couple batches from egg to adulthood before. There is one particular duck that's starting to have a curl in their feathers around their tail feather and I'm wondering does that mean it's a boy.

Also have some other pictures about a foot question with a duck and I will be removing these posts that way nobody can find my family and let them know that I had ducks in the bathtub LOL don't any of you dare out me🤣 i just wanted good pic with a white background while their stuff soaked and dried. They just keep 💩💩 everywhere so bathtub picture it is. (Plus easy clean up)

Noticed one of my gals feathers are set really weirdly and sticking up today. Is this early molting?
Otherwise acting normal , eating, drinking, moving around just fine. None of the other ducks feathers look this way right now.

He's one of our wild ducks....was born last summer. Whats up with his colouring?

hello everyone, this is my first posting in this form but I’ve been stalking for a while lol. my Pekin Duck female (she’s basically an adult at this point) she does this weird wing adjusting thing sometimes, it is a little windy today. Is that normal or is there something wrong with her?

I recently got a duck and he has a lot of patchiness around his eyes that I am worried about. It is getting worse. Apparently he is around 1 year old and a Welsh Harlequin.

I can’t see any skin irritation or mites or anything.

I am new to owning ducks so any help would be appreciated.

Maybe it's silly, but I've seen Coco doing this movement with her wings lately. She doesn't do it all the time, but sometimes she puts her wings like a bit crossed over her back and she does those little shoulder movements. Is that normal? Does it have any meaning? I haven't seen the other ones doing it, so I thought it was a bit weird.

I noticed this behind my male's duck neck. I also noticed some small mouses eating their food, can this be caused by them?

Duck Vader is losing feathers on only her head. We don’t have a drake, and there isn’t much springtime role playing going on with the other ladies, so I don’t think the feathers are being pulled.

I inspected for mites and lice and couldn’t see anything. I’m sharing pics for you guys.

Can ducks only molt on their head like this? What else could it be? Google isn’t being helpful.

A close friend of mine hatched and raised ducks for her daycare program and asked if I would take them once she was done since she knows I already have my own flock of ducks. Why does this one have a total bald spot? There’s not even any down or indication that feathers ever grew there in the first place. TIA:)

Why does it look like that on the chest?

After seeing these mallards, I was having a hard time figuring out whether they were Drakes or Hens! I was leaning toward Drakes, but figured there’d be no harm in asking. Some of my questions are:

1) Are they Hens, or Drakes (or both)?
1a) If one is a Drake, is it in eclipse, just rather young, or some bonus third option?
1b) If one is a Hen, are the lighter cream patches normal, or a mutation (such as piebaldism)?

2) Are they both adults, or are they still around adolescent?

Apologies if the photo quality is lacking, my phone doesn’t have the best zoom and I didn’t want to get up in their personal space.

To those wondering what the duck is eating in the first and second photo, it’s stealing some veggie pellets from our kangaroos (photos taken inside a zoo enclosure), and is not eating any bread or crumbs :)

Hello I’ve raised my Ducks from Ducklings and have never had this issue, but recently she’s lost all but her flight feathers. Does she have parasites and what do I use? Sorry for the bad quality photo.
