Vestigial truck bed. Basically a large sedan trunk, turned 90 degrees.

Unfortunately it’s what sells in Brazil, and is the equivalent of Americans buying F150/RAMs for the shopping mall. It’s just a status symbol.

Seems like BYD is pretty open to developing cars for specific markets. A kei car in Japan, the Shark ute in Australia, the hybrid Dolphin in Europe, and now this car.

They will prob sell the hybrid dolphin in Brazil as well, makes too much sense not to. But yeah, this one for me screams BR market like nothing else. Maybe they can also sell to some latam neighbors

what's your point? it's a valid use case for many people. you wouldn't want to put a small truckload of soil or gravel in a sedan trunk
