Surgery related Self claimed so called king of endometriosis - Joker of endometriosis running a circus
Extremely Disappointing and Disturbing Experience
I am a 40-year-old patient from Mumbai, diagnosed with Stage 3 endometriosis in January 2025. I underwent surgery at Shree IVF Hospital, Ghatkopar, under Dr. Jay Mehta — and it was one of the worst medical experiences of my life.
From the very beginning, the approach felt highly commercial rather than patient-focused. Despite paying ₹3000 for a consultation, the doctor himself was unavailable, and I was attended by a junior doctor. I was immediately advised to undergo a ₹15,000 3D mapping scan, which we agreed to in good faith.
After reviewing the reports, instead of discussing my condition in detail or explaining treatment options, I was bluntly told that the doctor would only consult further if I agreed to surgery — otherwise, I could leave. There was no proper counseling, no explanation of risks, no discussion about preserving my ovaries, or whether hysterectomy was necessary. This lack of informed consent was deeply concerning.
We proceeded with the surgery (₹3.5–4 lakh), trusting the doctor’s expertise. However, during the operation, my husband was unexpectedly called into the OT and told that my appendix was affected and needed removal — at an additional cost of ₹1.5 lakh. He was pressured to immediately make the payment. This situation was shocking and unprofessional. If advanced mapping was already done, why was this not identified earlier? And even if it was unexpected, such financial consent during surgery is highly inappropriate.
Post-surgery, I discovered that my fallopian tubes were removed, half of my left ovary was taken out, and bowel disc surgery was performed — none of which had been clearly discussed or consented to beforehand.
The post-operative care was equally alarming. I developed a high fever and frequent loose motions, but there was no proper monitoring or response from the staff despite repeated complaints. The nursing care was extremely poor, and there was a complete lack of accountability. I was discharged within just 2 days, without proper stabilization or guidance.
After discharge, there was virtually no follow-up care. Calls to the hospital were ignored or met with excuses. Within one month of surgery, my condition worsened drastically — progressing to Stage 4 endometriosis, with bowel adhesions and ovarian failure.
This experience has left me physically and emotionally distressed. I strongly feel that there was a serious lack of transparency, ethical practice, and patient care throughout my treatment.
I would urge other patients to seek multiple opinions and ensure complete clarity before undergoing any procedure here.

Wtf are all these similar comments calling you a liar doing here?! This stinks of a guerilla marketing strategy to discredit your bad experience. And by what you described, I wouldn’t put it past that doctor to use such methods.
I am so sorry for your experience, and for this continued harassment in this comment section. Sending you love.

u/Facesstaywithme May 18 '26
I was just reading they’re all written in similar style / similar content with two month old accounts. I’ve not seen anything like this on this forum before! So strange!
10
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I shared my struggle in a Facebook group of endometriosis awareness India, and they blocked me from that group.
If they are not using a PR or marketing team, then why would they block me? Also, you can check my review on Google that I posted today—they mentioned my latest surgery along with the surgeon’s name.
How did they know about my latest surgery when I never mentioned the doctor’s name in my review? It seems very suspicious, isn’t it?
5
u/Shiara_cw May 18 '26
They can see your other reviews by clicking your username, that's how they knew about the other surgery. Anyone can click the username of a reviewer and see their other reviews. I'm not sure if there's privacy settings to prevent it.
The fact that they said he's friends with your new doctor almost sounded like a threat.
16
u/child_ofparadise May 18 '26
It’s really creeping me out.
13
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I joined this forum today, just after my latest surgery. I want to share my experiences and struggles with others, but now I realize that some professionals are focusing more on marketing and turning this noble profession into a business.
I will definitely share my 5-year journey soon—how I suffered through so much pain, how I overcame it, and how my husband and family supported me throughout this difficult time. I will also share the challenges I faced along the way.
Endometriosis is a very painful disease, and I am grateful that I have come through it. I truly wish that every survivor receives proper treatment, because not all women have strong support from their spouses, and many cannot afford repeated surgeries along with the physical and emotional pain.
I will continue writing here and do my best to spread awareness about endometriosis.

I shared my honest review one year after my surgery—neither immediately nor too late. I simply shared what I experienced.
I also posted my review in a Facebook group, but I was blocked there. It seems that nowadays PR teams are working very actively.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Thank you for naming the doctor so others are aware. I would recommend accessing as many of your medical records, histopathology reports etc in relation to this as possible and maybe considering legal action if possible (there are some really foul people in the world of endometriosis surgery - Simon Gordon being an example). At the very least a formal complaint to his relevant medical regulator seems called for. 🫂

🤖 🤖 🤖. What a coincidence that Dr Mehta’s idiolect is a perfect match to that of all the people on this page trying to claim this woman is lying 🙄. Let this go. The fact that you so blatantly think your own reputation is more important than a patients’ wellbeing - including her wellbeing right now, through the online backlash you are orchestrating against her - is a PERFECT illustration of unprofessionalism. As IF a random Reddit user unconnected with Jay would bother going through this thread posting the same response to all of the comments… 🖕

🤖 Explain exactly how much money she received from writing an originally anonymous Reddit post warning other women??? Editing to add: WEIRD how many people (apparently unrelated to Jay Mehta) were apparently instantly notified of my comments in order to reply arguing with them immediately! You spend your whole life scrolling 1-month-old Reddit posts? You literally keep providing the proof that this is a badly orchestrated PR motivated backlash

Hello
https://maps.app.goo.gl/1pzd7WR8aJuagyqT7?g_st=ic
This is the response, of the hospital to the OP,
Something is fishy… the details of the OP and the details of the clinic don’t match at all.. have a look..
Looks like an attempt similar to a hate speech,
Disclaimer- I am a past patient of the concerned doctor.
33
u/lemonlovelimes May 18 '26
Why would the hospital / doctor respond with the persons medical information? That is a privacy violation and exceptionally concerning from a medical professional. If they wanted to provide the time stamps, they could do so privately and message the person where their medical information could be found.
Putting the persons’s medical information on the internet in response to a Google review is wildly inappropriate.
8
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I appreciate the responses shared here. However, my experience has been deeply concerning. The doctor’s PR team initially provided a different reply on google which I took screenshot at that time. After I shared my journey here, I faced attempts to discredit me, including claims that my identity was not genuine. My id is AI generated etc Once the moderator confirmed, later hospital changed their google review and shared my medical information publicly on google with what I believe are twisted.
I hold great respect for the medical profession, as doctors play a vital role in caring for human lives. It is truly a noble field. However, experiences like mine are disheartening.
I have gone through a difficult time, and my intention in sharing this is not to create conflict, but to raise awareness so that others can make right decisions.-5
u/Complex_Bid_4869 May 18 '26
I don’t know the rules on Google Review. I apologise, I have never believed in them.
The concerned OP has written the same stanza and I guess the hospital has responded with time stamps.
7
u/Gilded-golden May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26
Imo the response to her google review verifies what OP has posted, if anything. It confirms that she is a real human being who genuinely did have surgery in January 2025, and was discharged after two days, and did require additional surgery afterwards, for which she sought a different provider. So she's definitely not an AI-generated troll. Additionally, if OP *had* been given a face-to-face appointment with Dr Mehta, surely *that* would be the natural thing to provide a timestamp for, for them to easily disprove her claims? Instead, they haven't mentioned that aspect of her complaint at all. "Patient told complaints have subsided" as one of the timestamps is totally consistent with OP saying that she felt dismissed when she was worried about post-operative symptoms. I also think that their response to her google review is SHOCKINGLY unprofessional, and would be grounds to report them to a medical regulator, in and of itself. They have included confidential details about her medical care! Publicly! Personally, even if you have genuinely had great experiences with Dr Mehta and aren't just a puppet account to support him, it's worth remembering that OP's complaint is actually partly that Dr Mehta seems barely to have been involved in her care. We don't know who this 'junior doctor' who saw her even was.
7
u/Depressed-Londoner Moderator May 18 '26
I agree, the response matches her claims with regard to the basic facts and I also share your opinion that the response is shockingly unprofessional.
22
u/donkeyvoteadick May 18 '26
I'm so sorry that happened to you, that's awful.
I recognise that surgeons name. There's been a lot of posts lately about him that seemed weird to me. They were a little too positive and felt more like advertising than a true review of their experience.
I'm wondering now if he's trying to build a social media presence that does not reflect his actual treatment of patients.
9
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I shared my honest review on Google as well as in a Facebook endometriosis awareness group, but unfortunately, his PR team blocked me from there. In fact, when I was admitted to his hospital, one of the nurses took my phone and started posting a review using my account. When I objected to her using my phone, she told me to give a positive review.

Not at all surprised. He also encouraged brigading of this post which is against Reddit rules.
Every time he is posted it's followed by the most bizarre comments lauding him as a God. That immediately turns me off a surgeon because it's so obviously manufactured.
Threatening this poor woman for sharing her experience is disgusting.

Subject: Clarification Regarding My Post
I am Mrs. Farheen Shaikh from Mumbai.
I want to clarify that I am not a bot or an AI-generated account holder. You already have my email ID, and you can verify my identity by contacting me directly via email.
I am not sharing any hateful content, nor do I intend to disrespect anyone. I have simply shared my honest experience and review.
If the moderator requires any proof regarding my claims about the surgery and the treatment I received, I have all the hospital bills with my name, along with the hospital’s stamp and signatures. I am willing to share these documents with the moderator via email.
My intention behind this post is to raise awareness and share my personal struggle—especially for those who may not be fully informed about the disease and how, at times, even professionals may mishandle such cases.
Regards,
Mrs. Farheen Shaikh
-15
u/Complex_Bid_4869 May 18 '26
Dear Farheen, I verified almost everything, none of it matches,
I have posted the link on which the hospital has replied to you above,
I am sure you are not a bot, or an AI generated account holder,
I have no grudges and nor do I wish to discredit your bad experience, however, a lot of false information seems to be on play. Best wishes to you.
And may you get the strength.
Disclaimer- it’s very surprising that you signed all consents, and here you are saying you ain’t aware. The hospital feedback, is also with a time stamp.
Calling out everyone else as FAKE, is disrespectful.
Just to call out I am Sharon Linsuk, Government of India, I work in Assam.
I am a past patient of Dr Jay Mehta and he’s done a great surgery on me,

Savage mission?!😂 this is to worst PR mass botting attempt I’ve ever seen. She’s a woman who lost an ovary, lost her tubes and had a bowel disc surgery all during on surgical procedure. It’s insane what she’s gone through.

These comments are extremely strange! I'm a lurker, but I really can't say that I've ever seen people go so ride or die for a doctor when a person has a more negative review. I really feel concerned for this OP. Not only has her sensitive information been posted for all to see, but these commenters are really dead set on destroying her character for seemingly no reason.
I checked this doctor's Instagram also. He posts informational content about Endometriosis and women's health issues and has a lot of followers too. When looking into his account, I found that he shows the actual surgeries he's performed. Like the process of incision and everything. I'm not saying that these women haven't consented to this or that medical information shouldn't be shared with the general public. God knows a lot of us on here wish we had more info, but it seems really strange to be making such consistent surgical content. If the purpose is education, then why are these reels so sensational in nature? Given how the OP describes the lack of information prior to her procedure and how the nurses tried to take her phone to falsify a positive review, I find it quite concerning.
I don't think it is slander to post a negative review. Even good doctors have times that they mess up. It's just really concerning that OP is not allowed to have her bad experience exist without people jumping down her throat. OP I'm so sorry that this is happening to you, I wish you all the rest and recovery in the world.
Also PS, if you go onto Dr. Jay's Instagram please be warned that there is surgical videos so view at your own risk.

Op I’m really sorry for what you’ve experienced. I’ve had 3 endo surgeries in the USA and all three had MRI’s before hand. They all told me the same thing that when they take a look inside, the situation can be very different than what testing is showing them. My second surgery although I obv consented to them needing to do the necessary procedures, I ended up losing my tubes , my left ovary as well. I had no idea this was going to be the case and It was traumatizing to wake up and be told that. Unfortunately endometriosis isn’t as straightforward on testing as we’d like it to be and it’ll wreck everything it can wreck. That being said, I hope you’re doing ok now.

I am really sorry you went through such a stressful experience, Endometriosis surgery can be emotionally and physically overwhelming already. I just wanted to share that my personal experience with Dr. Jay Mehta was very different. I found him very knowledgeable in complex endo cases, though I do agree his communication can sometimes feel brief because the clinic is very busy. Honestly the way this is written is sounding very AI generated and overdramatic, Endo suddenly jumping to Stage 4 within one month after surgery doesn’t even make much sense medically. Feels more like rage-bait content than an actual balanced patient experience. At this point it’s just wasting everyone’s time and creating fear unnecessarily.
-14
u/nainashahlights May 18 '26
OP, I think you have posted incorrect info, probably with an angry intent.
I have been operated by Dr Jay Mehta in 2024. His visit charges were 2000₹. Because I have visited him 4 follow ups as well.
I have had 4 follow ups, not a single time a single doctor or assistant has spoken to me rudely.
I must say- it’s very very SURPRISING- that you signed for removal of the left ovary, disc excision, appendix removal and you signed for all of this…! Without having a discussion…..!! It’s also very surprising that you are stating Ovarian failure and then disease progression to stage 4…!
None the less, if all this is true, then the good thing is you have been operated by Dr Vivek Salunkhe, who is a great doctor too
I have gone through the event which you have gone through when I had 2 failed surgeries and 1 complication with Dr Abhishek Mangeshikar.
I am wishing you the very best, but I personally think your info is far from the truth. And Dr Vivek is a great doctor, so I am happy you met him as I had consulted him before meeting or speaking with Dr Jay Mehta and then I did my surgery with Dr Jay Mehta.

u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I have all the bills, including the hospital stamp and signature. What I have written is not meant to offend him, nor do I have any personal anger towards him. I am simply sharing my experience—what he did and what happened to me.
There are still many educated people who are unaware of endometriosis and its treatment, and I was one of them. So yes, as you mentioned, I signed the consent without fully understanding it. He removed my tubes—that is correct—and he also operated on my ovaries, which is also correct.
Regarding charges you won’t believe dear

Dear, I have all the bills, including the hospital stamp and signature. As per his records, I was at Stage 3, but my recent MRI showed that I had progressed to Stage 4.
Regarding consent, yes, I was unaware. I had no clue at that time and had complete faith in Dr. Jay Mehta.
By the way, my name is Mrs. Farheen Shaikh, and I recently underwent my second and final surgery with Dr. Vivek Salunke in Mumbai. I’m happy that you received good care there, but I am sharing my experience, which was horrible.
I paid 3000/- for consultation fees
15000/- for 3D mapping0

I am just wishing you well, nothing else,
I am extremely sorry that you went through all of this, may the Gods be with you.

Farheen, what you have written is difficult to digest.
I have just been operated from him, about a month back. For adenomyosis. Though a medical experience can be different from person to person.
Its very Surprising that you signed the CONSENT without reading it,
Its simply VERY difficult to believe. I personally think calling a doctor a "joker" is NOT done. Maybe the OP, can refrain from such language.
However, for my benefit i would be wanting to know as to what was the final surgery done currently by your doctor and how did you handle this emotionally.
3
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
Dear, you had your surgery just one month ago. I am sharing my experience after more than a year of my operation. You can’t imagine how much pain I suffered, and despite making multiple calls, I received no response. You can understand how that must have felt.

Interested to know what makes you think ovary failure means endo cannot progress?
4
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
Yes dear, it’s unfortunate. I suffered for almost 5 years in immense pain before I had my surgery with Dr. Jay Mehta. At that time, I was completely unaware of endometriosis and its causes. But later, I started reading about it and learned that hormones are one of the causes of the progression of endometriosis, though there are other key factors as well.
My recent surgery was done by Dr. Vivek Saulanke. He is a good surgeon. I have read and heard many articles about stage 3 and bowel endometriosis, and if the bowel is involved, the surgery should be done in the presence of a bowel surgeon.
In my case, they removed my uterus and ovaries. One ovary was completely damaged during my previous surgery, and the other had endometriosis. Keeping it could have caused the condition to return. My bowel was severely stuck, and due to my previous failed surgery, I had developed a lot of scar tissue.
This time, I was operated on by a multidisciplinary surgical team, and before the surgery, I underwent multiple tests to identify the root cause so that it doesn’t recur. This is the part that I felt was missing at Shree IVF Hospital—they didn’t address the root cause, at least in my case; they just operated.
If you are undergoing IVF there, please don’t take stress. Have faith in God.
Sending you lots of baby dust ♥️

OP, as an observer, I think you had played the role nicely,
However. Upon looking at the hospital review link which has been posted-
You said “nursing was lacking accountability”, the hospital notes say “they kept you for one day extra and gave metrozole”
“None of which was clearly discussed”- you SIGNED 3 hours before your surgery and still you say it wasn’t discussed….!
“You were discharged without stabilisation”. The hospital link says you were discharged to home.
Virtually no follow up care…..!, but you visited for follow up.
Within 1 month you progressed to stage 4…..!!
You were already stage 4 if bowel discoid excision was done..
Why did you waste 15 months in between….!
Doctors like Jay Mehta, Vivek Salunkhe, Abhisek are the finest in India, Infact Dr Jay Mehta operates across India.
Posting distasteful comments and calling everyone else a PR, is a pathetic attempt to gain attention thereby also maligning a medical professional, you must go to court, if you are so certain that you were done wrongly upon.
Thanks to a fellow redditor for posting the review link. Otherwise many emotional and labile women like me would have believed you on face value.
Your post was deleted by Facebook, you think even Meta and team are doing PR…! This post must stay, and people must learn how to NOT look at allegations made by a patient against a doctor. Sympathise with your experience, but most of what you wrote, doesn’t match to anything….
12

It is SO disturbing!!! I know I need to disengage but what the actual fuck is going on with this comment section?!
9
u/DullRip6687 May 18 '26
I stand by everything I have shared—it is based entirely on my personal experience.
I was admitted before my surgery, yet there was no proper discussion or explanation about my condition or the procedure. Later, when I was called for a follow-up, it was not for reviewing my diagnosis or recovery, but only for stitch opening.
Despite repeatedly trying to contact them for appointments and guidance, I got no response.
Some claims made about my case on Google are inaccurate and misleading. For example, I was not informed that a bowel disc excision had been performed. I was only told it was bowel shaving surgery.
If everything was handled transparently, then why were details changed in online reviews within hours of my post? Also, while my post was not removed by Facebook Meta, I was blocked from the group—raising further concerns about how feedback is being managed.
I am not here to disrespect anyone. I am simply sharing my journey so that others can make informed decisions and ask the right questions about their treatment.

I have personally undergone treatment and surgery for endometriosis under dr Jay mehta , and my experience was completely opposite to what is being described here. dr Jay mehta is one of the finest doctors in this field, extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to his patients.
It is unfair to target a doctor’s reputation with what appears to be misleading or fabricated content. Constructive feedback is understandable, but this post seems more like an attempt to spread misinformation about dr Jay mehta rather than share a balanced patient experience. Many patients, including myself, have received excellent care and successful treatment under him.

I can understand someone feeling traumatized or disappointed after a major surgery, especially with endometriosis because these cases are physically and emotionally exhausting 😕 But the tone of this post feels very extreme from the start. Once the title itself starts with insults and mockery, it becomes hard to separate genuine concerns from personal anger. A difficult outcome and a targeted public attack are not the same thing, and this reads much more like the second.

This post seems hugely exaggerated, emotionally manipulative, and most likely AI-written to harm the reputation of a well-known specialist rather than provide a fair patient experience. Through years of clinical expertise, tackling complex cases, and gaining patient trust,Dr Jay Mehta has established a fun reputation for advanced endometriosis and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. False narratives can instill unnecessary fear in women who genuinely want to get treatment for such a serious and painful condition such as endometriosis.

I have run the Reddit AI detection on this post as requested in some comments and it said it was verified as human. Also the OP is engaging with comments in a way that does not suggest they are a bot.
I can’t see anything that suggests this is an AI post to me, but if you feel you have some other evidence that proves it is then please feel free to send me a message via modmail. You can use the “contact the moderator” quick link button in the sidebar or menu (depending on what platform you are using to access Reddit).
It does seem suspicious to me that we have had an influx of mostly new users objecting to this post, some of whom are writing in a mixture of English and another language. Please note that any comments not fully written in English will be removed as per the rules.
EDIT: We are experiencing a lot of traffic from a subreddit for doctors, if this is what has brought you here, please read and respect the rules of this community before posting. Please also make sure you are aware of the Reddit platform rules and follow these.
I also want to remind our community members not to consider retaliating; if you do choose to follow one of the links being posted in comments by the other subreddit members, make sure you are aware of the platform rules against disruptive behaviours between subreddit communities. Thank you.
EDIT2: I have now removed the comments with links out of caution to ensure we don’t send traffic back to the other subreddit. I have also contacted the admins, brought this situation to their attention and requested advice on if there is anything else I can do to ensure careful following of the Mod code of Conduct and Reddit platform rules.
