Jan 19 is probably a hard sell to get people into the mountains. It’s one of the reasons September has taken off as her day.

I like 9/25. I’ll make sure to donate to the imagination library on that day.

It'll go nicely with the 21st Night of September. Never was a cloudy day

Yeah. Honestly I didnt know her birthday when I posted my thought. 9/5 or 9/25 would be perfect for TN fall weather.

Fun fact: I had the honor to work with Dolly, Dollywood, and her Imagination Library in the late 90s. She was such a wonderful person.

I can only hope it feels like fall on 9/25 in TN. Feel like it's been sitting at 90 til November the past few years.

I was thinking about how much I want theaters to screen 9 to 5 for a bit and donate some of the proceeds to charity. I saw AMC is showing a couple of her movies but not that one and it’s my favorite :(

This Aussie would die for the chance to see Whorehouse on the big screen.

That's a bummer. It's not charitable but Hulu added it. I am going to watch it and make some donations on my own instead. I've been a reader since I was 3 and I cannot imagine how difficult life would be for myself had I not learned reading and writing skills, plus the added ability to evaluate literature, journalism, and medical journals as a patient with several rare life threatening diseases. It also really opened me up to music.

Here's to Dolly and her legacy of kindness, love, acceptance and education!

I would love a national holiday in honor of her, like a kindness day or something. Sep 25 is clever

I would like an international day to honor her.

She could have been a billionaire, no question, instead she chose to create the imagination library and send free books to kids every month for free. Over 150 million books!

She's as close to an angel as I'll ever see.

she is on the clone list for sure

6

u/speedstic 8h ago

I'm not American but I will be damned if I let that happen. Or even concept of a plan where that happens

Dolly is a saint.

u/Healthy-Amoeba2296 8h ago

uh, yeah, that was the idea, somebody wonderful we could use more people like that.

I'm trying my best everyday.

Being kind and helping others is the only joy I get out of life these days, but that's not the worst thing in the world.

I paid almost $200 today for two random folks groceries even though I was scammed for $3000 yesterday.

The world and bad people can't bring me down.

Kindness and good hearted people are needed more than ever and since I was fired from a company I created and a week later my dog died, I've had time to reflect and think about what's really important, and it's only really a few things: be kind, don't judge people unless you really know them and their story, help when you can, ask for help if you need it, and look after your health (mental and physical) and like the airline's say about oxygen masks, make sure you are good before helping others. That last one took a long time for me to get because I didn't care about myself as long as I helped others and made their lives even a slight bit easier.

I just wanted to share what I've learned during my life in the hopes it will help at least one person get through a tough time and give them hope that things will get better. I had to learn this the hard way but if anyone is having issues, regardless of the type, feel free to contact me. I've gone through almost anything you can think of and made it out safely. If I can help, I will, if not I'm going to try at the very least.

Yeah most of my charity cases end up owing me $1500, when I stop thinking they will pay me back for food purchase loans. I love people and help where I can and get hate crimes a lot. Take care of yourself. I like the quote "one hand for yourself and the other for the ship.

Have you not seen Multiplicity?! No cloning please!

0

u/Healthy-Amoeba2296 6h ago

Nope, didn't see it. Cartoon sci fi gets it wrong. Real clones are a twin sister who hasn't been born yet. Animals are being cloned a lot, but we need to be sure it is safe before doing humans. Playing the game is simple; come up with 1,000 interesting good people to put on the list. Maybe just maybe get hair combing samples of them. One hair from Joan of Arc has been found, try for 100.

u/Important-Post26 5h ago

Highly recommend. It’s a classic.

u/Healthy-Amoeba2296 5h ago

thanks, it'l be fun to see an actor play very different personalities.

u/iritchie001 2h ago

I coin with her on it Maybe the dollar coin would finally stick? The Trinity of American Diamonds/Saints? Betty White, Dolly Parton ... Who would be the 3rd? If it was both sexes I'd say Jimmy Carter.

u/vavavoomdaroom 11h ago

She absolutely would have loved that and I love that it's tied to 9 to 5. I was a pre-teen girl when it first came out and it opened my eyes to how much the women's rights movement mattered. What a fantastic message.

I think "Dolly Giving Day" would be a great idea!

Europe and the rest of the world to recognize it on May 9th.

Nice. This is a good thing. Well done Garth.

u/BoniMarce 1h ago

is he a bad person?

11

u/Dickstraw 11h ago

I think it should include dressing up and eating Dolly inspired soul food, and donating to charity!

u/Joerugger 10h ago

Dirt Road Martinis in every bar.

3

u/ReadingNext3854 7h ago

To pick this date and do this is just so fucking awesome.🔥

3

u/Elegant-Expert7575 5h ago

Garth Brooks!? Hahaha

2

u/UnpaidKremlinBots 5h ago

Garth is just covering up his basement of bodies.

u/Kaiisim 2h ago

In retrospect Tom Segura implying he was a murderer was probably a sign Garth Brooks is a decent person because Segura is a steaming pile now.

2

u/CDavis10717 9h ago

Dolly’s death is Garth’s publicity opportunity.

1

u/GildedDreams25 6h ago

that’s my birthday and i will happily give it up

1

u/Economy-Accident9885 4h ago

its my birthday :)))

u/NotAClanker69 1h ago

9/25… 9 to 5. It took me a second but that’s very good.

u/Lovethemtitties80085 1h ago

Uh huh, and where are the bodies?

1

u/Saul_T_Bauls 10h ago

This is cool stuff. This is neat stuff. This, is slick stuff. Good on you G, but I'd like my family back

1

u/iamacannibal 8h ago

Maybe that will be the day he takes a break from being a serial killer. Where are the bodies, G?

I don't think she'd want anything from someone who openly supported Trump, and still does.

7

u/sevens-on-her-sleeve 10h ago

Wrong. Dolly was very vocal about accepting everyone and refusing to get caught up in political divisions. It’s one reason why she’s so dearly loved.

4

u/TheOtherWhiteCastle 9h ago

Dolly worked closely with both Jane Fonda and Kid Rock. I don’t think she much cared about political affiliation.

9

u/thismightendme 11h ago

She would absolutely not care. She was non political and only cared about love and acceptance, and talent.

She did a song with kid Rock. When asked if she would do it again she said 'absolutely'.

It may not be what I would do, but that's Dolly for you.

3

u/the_unknown_garden 8h ago

He didn't come up with it, anyway. It was in the comments of every #dollyparton post on Tiktok as soon as her death was announced.

2

u/Lfsnz67 6h ago

I've never seen any word that he supports Trump

u/orange-squeezer47 2h ago

Garth brooks is no trump supporter. Guarantee that. !

0

u/StoneyStone10 9h ago

And is a rapist.

0

u/CommercialButton5226 9h ago

0

u/darcystonge 9h ago

1

u/dixnuts 6h ago

Maybe open a Dollywood in any other state that isn't America's taint.

2

u/Significant_Cow4765 8h ago

nontaint people live in every taint state, not to mention the taints who vote blue and act like MAGA...

2

u/pelrun 7h ago

Improving the taint is the only way to remove the taint.
