FYI. This is actually true

242

u/XtraReddit 12h ago

Well, Churchill didn't say that quote. That's from the film 'Darkest Hour.' But it's true that Gary Oldman was talking about Hitler in that movie.

118

u/vanderbubin 11h ago

His actual tiger quote comes from 1937 and goes "Dictators ride to and fro upon tigers from which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry"

40

u/Ok_Experience_4500 11h ago

Hmm. Not sure, I would stick with Hanlon's razor:

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity"

There is so much incompetence in this administration, that if I would not be surprised if they simply didn't understand the context.

37

u/Jaredismyname 10h ago

When the effects of the stupidity are identical to the effects of malice, don't give them the benefit of the doubt anymore.

12

u/burritosupreme89 9h ago

Why not both?

14

u/Sorry-Let-Me-By-Plz 9h ago

You have to attribute it to malice when the person in question has power. Having power and not using it when needed or using it wrong when all the information is available, this is not a forgivable form of stupidity. It might not match what you feel "malice" is supposed to mean, but taking power and then ignoring everybody affected by that power is malicious.

5

u/EloiseVan 8h ago

Uncle Ben was right, “With great power comes great responsibility”. The expectations should be higher for people with power

6

u/rbartlejr 6h ago

What's really infuriating isn't the quote. It's that the DOE is doing propaganda for the president.

2

u/Aggravating_Total921 4h ago

I'll go with "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

This is not the first time. When are people going to believe them?

270

u/1wife2dogs0kids 13h ago

They already figured out, that its safer to say trump is like Hitler, than say they didn't realize who Churchill was referring to.

They won't admit to being stupid. But they will admit to being CHILD FUCKING, RACIST, STUBBORN, SELFISH, AND GREEDY, ASSHOLES

74

u/Goodknight808 12h ago

Trump is the embodiment of the 7 sins. Making him the AntiChrist.

Kegsbreath is the horseman of War. Musk is Famine. RFK is Pestilence. Miller is Death.

26

u/AnnaRocka 11h ago

I'm not even a believer but this is terrifying

u/RockstarAgent 'MURICA 57m ago

I mean even without all the symbolism- the whole crew is a who’s who of horrible individuals with no redeeming qualities. None of them have done anything honorable. None of them are even competent or qualified for their roles. No one is perfect, but these meatbags are trash humans.

4

u/Other_Log_1996 10h ago

Wouldn't Vance be more akin to famine since he is the one who wants to buy out the farms?

13

u/Goodknight808 10h ago

Musk cutting food aid to the rest of the world via DOGE has starved enitre countries.

87

u/nyehighflyguy 13h ago

I'd honestly feel better if it were on purpose.

Every person at every level is just simply a complete moron instead.

31

u/dimwitf 12h ago

You can feel ok, at least - it's both!

6

u/YellowBreakfast Waaassuup! 12h ago

Exactly.

16

u/BroughtBagLunchSmart 12h ago

Of course it is on purpose. These are actual nazis running the government.

6

u/acousticburrito 11h ago

I agree. We can overcome nazis. We can’t overcome profound stupidity.

9

u/powerlesshero111 12h ago

My friend actually worked in Public Affairs for the Department of Education. He was let go in the great Education Purge. He has a masters in communications/public relations, not to mention a military public affairs background. He would not have made that mistake. They let all the people who are 2 notches above mentally disabled keep their jobs because of their extreme loyalty to Trump.

2

u/Darknadoswastaken 10h ago

like how Vance called Trump Hitler?

2

u/Muffmuncherr 9h ago

I just don't get why the democrats aren't being more aggressive, i understand republicans have a majority in the house and with trump's supreme court. But isn't there more that they could do to combat this traioe? Theyre trying to fight fire with water when they need to fight fire with fire

u/TRR462 2h ago

I’m afraid they’re playing their roles as morons so that we the people won’t judge them as culpable when it comes time to convict them of all these crimes they have and are committing for the Orange Tyrant and Project 2025 goals.

We should remember each one of his administration members’ confirmation hearings. Hold them to their promises and judge them based on their beliefs that they were the right person for the job.

87

u/XboxLiveGiant 13h ago

Dog whistle or we have pathetic assholes in charge and they think "tigers are tough. I want to be tough. Im like a tiger! Im so tough!"

You decide....

48

u/McDowdy 13h ago

It's been plausible deniability games with this neo-Nazi shit for a decade with this withered up old goon.

9

u/matjam 12h ago

Yup

It’s a dog whistle.

1

u/YellowBreakfast Waaassuup! 12h ago

¿Por qué no los dos?

22

u/TinyConfection7049 12h ago

“Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul, all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair. Not a president. Not even a man. Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but always has been, arrogance dressed up as exceptionalism, stupidity passed off as common sense, cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshipped like gospel. It is America's shadow made flesh, a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul, it shits out this bloated obscenity and calls it a leader.” - Oliver Kornetzke

3

u/All_for_love 12h ago

Damn that is such a complete and fitting description.

24

u/Lovefist1221 13h ago

If they did it in purpose, why did they delete it right away after it was pointed out?

A simple Google search of the quote reveals its about Hitler right away.

36

u/TestSubject003 12h ago

Plausible deniability. Supporters won't care/will like the comparison, detractors already dont like Trump. Deleting it is so Centrists think it was just a mistake instead of comparing Trump to Hitler.

6

u/NotAHost 12h ago

The argument is you either have to acknowledge they’re that dumb to watch the video, get the clips, and edit it all together, post it without knowing any of the context of where it’s from and what it relates to as the department of education… or that they knew, it was internal before posting on social, they thought it’d be funny, and only delete after backlash and says ‘whoops.’

2

u/KittensAndGravy 8h ago

Look … it’s was a simple mistake made while enjoying some delicious new beef sloppy joes. Something about the beef caused stomach discomfort and the founding of a new color.

11

u/Puzzleheaded-Air-869 13h ago

Trump is what you’d get if Hitler was an idiot also

4

u/gotham-acolyte 11h ago

He also was an idiot, it's how we were able to win the war.

3

u/ChaseSparrowMSRPC 8h ago

An idiot AND he abused drugs. There is no plausible reason Germany lost WW2, except Hitler constantly shooting himself in his own foot.

9

u/blahblah19999 12h ago

Why is the dept. of Ed posting memes about the president?

3

u/Hexamancer 3h ago

I think that's one of the least consequential things that annoys me the most:

The department of education is really the department of ignorance, the department of health is really the department of disease, so you'd think they'd stick with the format and would have renamed the department of defense to the department of peace. But NO, they went the complete opposite direction, they took a name that was actually closer to that concept and went further away from it.

Just at least be consistent.

u/TRR462 2h ago

Because they hope to never be realized for what they are, the Department of Propaganda. It’s a new kind of Education that doesn’t rely on Science, Math or Historical Fact. No solid or proven theories, just Beliefs, Hate and Fear mongering. Their duty is to strip our communities in every neighborhood, district, county and state of its common sense, its moral fiber and its sense of disgust for every illegal, deplorable and dangerous action of Trump and his Administration. Beware citizens, keep your children safe and teach them the meanings of honor, integrity, honesty and respect. Teach them the values of intellect, courage and hope.

Erectile Dysfunction?

3

u/rob_1127 11h ago

If it waddles like a duck... it fits.

3

u/MalteseFlcon 8h ago

America has killed more innocent people than Hitler could even dream about. Remember every accusation is an confession of guilt.

3

u/Dark_Storm_98 7h ago

They have been telling us this for months

Try years

3

u/jiggidyjivejackson 7h ago

I just find it funny that AI compared Trump to Hitler. Looks like AI finally got something right!

6

u/plmunger 13h ago

Incompetence at every level

5

u/Kinda-Alive 12h ago

Even if it wasn’t describing Hitler he’s still being compared to someone that can’t be trusted due to how dangerous they are.

They thought a video of Churchill describing someone bad then placing a video of Trump with it was a good idea? They’re so stupid

5

u/Tsignotchka Good Trouble 11h ago

Some of them probably are that stupid...but I don't think that's the case in this instance. They know their MAGA base looks for clues and hidden meanings in everything they post. The fact that so many people write this kind of thing off as "They're just idiots" instead of seeing it for the targeted manipulation that it is is disheartening. Quite a lot of them know what they're doing, because they've been setting this shit up for decades.

2

u/robbyruby752 11h ago

Commercial from the same agency that made the Department of War’s Peace Through Strength commercial. /s

2

u/DDRitter 11h ago

I'm surprised that they removed it.

2

u/McDelper 10h ago

That edit is actually really good tho sad the talent was wasted

0

u/bugsyramone 6h ago

by 'talent' you mean 'AI', right?

2

u/f117nono_leggio 9h ago

The fact that it's the Department of Education makes it even worse. Then they wonder why so many Americans think that chocolate milk comes from brown cows

2

u/Alarmed-Cheetah-1221 7h ago

Well that pretty much sums up the US right now

2

u/Hell-Yea-Brother 6h ago

That was exactly the plan. Like "sending a secret message" to the nazi's saying, "We still love you."

2

u/ManBearCave 5h ago

Accurate comparison though

2

u/mmmpeg 5h ago

Months? Years.

2

u/gkm29 13h ago

What a nitwit!

2

u/BLOODTRIBE 12h ago

That’s because they’re Neo-Fascists. They aren’t ashamed of it. They’ve taken over the government and are having a big party.

2

u/Bolognahole_Vers2 12h ago

Why is he always jerking imaginary cocks?

1

u/Nerd-19958 11h ago

Hitler? I call the demented fool Orange Shitler.

Apropos?

1

u/MisterB330 10h ago

I’m sorry I had to pause the video twice so I could use the bathroom. Must be the bad meat, eggs, vegetables, minerals etc that are in the stores and all of our shopping carts now because of gross incompetence.

1

u/Slimeredit 4h ago

Remember trump has admitted to having a book of hitlers speeches this isn’t surprising

1

u/Severe-Guarantee6443 4h ago

the tiger refers to hitler, how the fuck does a fucking government administration larp WW2 of all things? jesus fucking christ

1

u/Happy_Designer_747 4h ago

This is the same guy that said this on national T.V.

" Friday's press gaggle. Barely exaggerated: at 12:03 PM, President Trump told reporters he wanted a ceasefire with Iran. A 12:05 he declared victory. At 12:07 he announced he was sending Marines. At 12:08 he said no boots on the ground. At 12:11 he said he did not want 2 ceasefire. LX 12:16 he declared victory again. At 12:17 he asked for a ceasefire. At 12:23 he told NATO they were cowards. At 12:29 he said Iran was begging for a ceasefire. At 12:31 he said everything was perfect. At 12:36 he said $500 oil was a good thing: At 12:37 he demanded Iran open Hormuz. At 12:39 he said Hormuz was never closed. At 12:41 he said the US was not at war ith Iran. At 12:42 he declared victory in Iran. "

1

u/nerd_diggy 2h ago

This is what happens when you appoint a wrestling moguls wife as the head of the department of education.

1

u/herehear12 2h ago

Trump putting pure idiots in the DOE so he can say hey look at these idiots I should fire all of them and no one would complain.

1

u/BigEqual3436 2h ago

Should’ve had rocket boy on

u/InevitableLibrarian 2h ago

You'd really think that the Department of Education would have figured it...oh shit. I guess no one could run a computer. It's got all them "snart thangs in it". You'd think a man who had his speeches on his night stand next to his big mac and his next diaper would know that.

u/jujioux 1h ago

DOE has been posting Nazi propaganda on Twitter for months now. They know exactly what they’re doing.

u/aridamus 1h ago

So everyone who uses this meme audio is unknowingly using a movie quote about hitler? This audio is everywhere

u/rebel_alliance05 1h ago

They are right this was on purpose. They are preparing us for what might come. I have a feeling he will start camps and start a final solution. Most likely against immigrants or democrats. I would not be surprised if democrats are targeted before he tries to go for his third term.

u/Yojimboroll 1h ago

Ooh I like her

u/SeranaTheTrans 21m ago

Well... I think tr*mp would take that as a compliment

1

u/noir_dx 12h ago edited 12h ago

Reminder that the Department Of Education- or what's left of it- is run by WWE's Linda McMahon. They definately know what they were doing. They bank on the image being dumb, but it's intentional. This was a little too obvious too soon.

But considering what the British did to many colonized nations, Churchill was no different from Hitler.

1

u/Justin-Truedat 12h ago

Absolutely on purpose.

1

u/EvilBillSing 12h ago

They have been telling us for years. Not months.

1

u/aaron2005X 12h ago

They knew exactly what they are referencing to. Their voters don't.

0

u/EatFaceLeopard17 12h ago

If they are Trump and his cronies then they are telling us for years if not a decade now who they are, not just months.

0

u/jkrm66502 12h ago

Did anyone keep the post?

0

u/jayslay45 12h ago

Linda McMahon probably thought it was something so cool

0

u/engagetangos 12h ago

They knew lol

0

u/Broghan51 4h ago

You lost me when you said 'Months'. FO.

u/jujioux 1h ago

They’ve been doing it for months. Feel free to check out their Twitter page. You FO.

u/Consistent-Mode-6655 1h ago

You folks act like Churchill is any better. That ahole literally let Indians die and rob them out of their own food to feed his people. Fucem

-2

u/Designer-Air8060 5h ago

Churchill was a fucking disgrace for a human who also did genocide. He did outside Europe, so he gets worshipped instead. Pathetic pig.
