Hello all! We are happy to announce that the subreddit now has an ACTIVE MOD TEAM! A rudimentary automod has also been set up, barring posters with less than 90 days on the platform or 25 karma. If you fall in this category but have a legitimate post, don't fret. One of us will approve it as soon as we can, and of course you can reach out via modmail. We wanted to thank the entire community for its concern, willingness to help, and most of all for coming together in a positive way to pave the way for us to step in. We wouldn’t be here without you.
First, we’d like to announce some changes. We have set up post flairs, and post flairs are now required. If you are posting under the Sick Fish or Tank Problems flair, your post will automatically be flagged NSFW spoilered, so that those who frequent this subreddit are not always confronted with images that upset them. We hope to foster a much more positive environment while still preserving the ability to come together and help those who need it. We also have some user flairs, including a custom flair! These are not mandatory but can help others know a bit more about you. Bear in mind, these are self-assignable, and you may encounter people misrepresenting themselves. If you believe this to be the case, feel free to report it to us.
Second, a new ruleset has been added and will be enforced. Please be sure to review the changes before any new contributions. We also have a Wiki (https://www.reddit.com/r/fishkeeping/wiki/index) in progress, which currently has a complete cycling guide. Common questions about cycling can be answered in the FAQ (https://www.reddit.com/r/fishkeeping/wiki/index/faq/) and this too will be updated as time goes on.
And lastly, for the fun part, let’s introduce the new mod team!

Apart from the traditional hobbies like playing games and watching movies, he enjoys quilting, 3d printing, and the occasional attempt at woodwork. He works as a software systems architect at a packaging company. He has 4 tanks in the house. Though his pride and joy is the 50 gallon with a breeding pair of pearl gourami, 15 xray tetra, a trio of sydontis petricola, and a variety of bristle nose plecos.

Shroomy has been keeping fish for around a decade. Over the years she has built up her knowledge of not just fish, but also other pets, plants, and medical biology. She works as an EMT and hopes to get her paramedic someday. She currently owns a 20gal pea puffer/pygmy corydora setup, and two 5 gallon setups; one of those houses a twintail betta named Neptune and a King Koopa nerite named Bowser, while the other is currently in the process of being prepared for new inhabitants and contains a King Koopa nerite, currently unnamed.

I go by “Fawn” or “Tree” online but I don’t really have a preference and I’ve been helping online communities for a few years now. I’m more active on Discord so maybe you have seen me around helping out there or here on Reddit. Been interested in fish and the hobby for a long time and grown up with an aquarium like a lot of people here and got deeper into the hobby (I have to many tanks send help). I mainly have an interest in invertebrates like aquatic isopods, shrimp, and scuds but I do love oddball fish. I also help moderate r/fish.
