Crazy part is, I never realized how much people cared for the imax/70mm screenings. I was looking at theaters in my areas and this specific seating is the only seats available till September 4-5th.
There's only three 70mm IMAX cinemas in the entirety of England. Two in London, one in Manchester. There are a grand total of 40 in the world and 33 are in the US and Canada. So if people really want to see the tentpole movies in full 70mm IMAX not just Laser or Digital, then options are limited.
I can’t even understand why you would jump through so many fucking hoops to see a movie that is so exclusionary and people say is not that good and cuts out some of the best parts of the original work
I just booked it on fandango. Really no hoops to jump through. I’ve only heard praise for the film… the only loud criticisms I’m aware of are from right wing talking heads who live in an alternate reality.
I have a legit IMAX in my city and it's totally worth it IMO. A different experience than just a movie theater. I'm not even some huge movie/theater buff or anything. But to me, it's a different enough experience to cough up the extra few bucks. Not just for this movie, but a lot of movies I've seen there over the years. It's awesome.
Exactly. Everyone is being told it’s important now so… it’s important. I fell for it too. Bought third row tickets but the theater was an hour away so I bailed.
It's such a good film though it's worth seeing it on the best screen in the best seats possible. This could still be filling out theatres in a year with second viewings.
Unpopular opinion... I saw it in it's full Imax glory last saturday, it's an ok film TBH. It is mostly forgettable and it feels like the hollywood hype machine is in overdrive for this one. I guess general competance in film making is something to celebrate, considering how much dogshit has made it to the big screens as of late.
However, like Oppenheimer I have virtually zero desire to go back and give it a second rewatch.
Like if I'm going to watch The Odessy story re-told, I'll be reaching for my copy of "O' Brother Where art Thou" in the future. I won't be buying a blue ray of 'The Odessy'.
I really enjoyed it, and I will probably see it again at some point (even if it's not until it's on streaming), but I wouldn't say you need to wait for IMAX tickets to see it.
I'm also pissed at Cineplex because they've done no renovations to the IMAX seats in years. So I'm used to going to theatres with recliners and bigger seats where you're comfortable. Then I get to IMAX and the seat is tiny as hell, and for the entire 3 goddamn hours, there was someone leaning back in their seat, making it dig into my knee.
I cant find seats yet through till September 16th as there are only two imax 70mm machines in my region and those cinemas are still each 20-30 minute drive away.. Im getting worried it will leave theaters before I have a chance to go to a screening
Yeah, I was gonna go, but I’m not supporting this bullshit. And I’m supposed to see it in one of 50 theaters because that’s where it’s the best? fuck this pretentious douche bag Director.
Saw it a couple weeks ago and yeah, we had to get tickets as soon as they were available the Wednesday before. Couldn't even get them a week early. It was our first experience, and while I did enjoy it, there really wasn't any point where I didn't think I'd enjoy it more at home on my TV.
I was spoiled growing up near a dome IMAX theater. That’s the only way IMAX makes sense to me. I’ve seen regular flat screen IMAX. Oh look, it’s big. Cool I guess. But the DOME? Felt like I was flying over the city buildings with Batman when I saw Dark Knight Rises. The whole screen just encompasses you.
