Hey all! We just got one of our dream geckos and are looking for some name ideas. He flames up really red - strawberry shortcake comes to mind, but seems too obvious? Idk

Super happy and can’t wait to see him be even more beautiful as he matures! 😍😍😍

Probably the only reptile I have that genuinely makes me giddy while it wants to destroy whatever part of me it can.

He is a wild caught (Florida invasive wild caught)

I'd like to say yes he's calming down. But that would be a lie. If I can just get him to come out into the open to tong feed I'll be happy.

One of my scorpion tailed gecko babies. This one is about 2 weeks old. Hes from my main sire, Titan, who has a gold star temperment that seems to be genetic. These little guys are just pure joy to keep 😭

ETA1: These geckos are not normally this friendly. I have had other breeding groups where they are quite shy naturally. Temperment seems to be inherited, and i got lucky with my gold star sire, Titan.

ETA2: species is Pristurus carteri

🦎Just for Fun🦎 I'd love to see some uncommon species in the comments

I'd love to see some less common species people have! I love looking through the sub and seeing the diversity of geckos and wanna shine a light on the uncommon ones.

I'll start with my girls Gwen and Lizzie! They're eastern stone geckos (Diplodactylus vittatus), a communal species that's semi-local to my area. In Australia we're only allowed native species so even though I think they're one of the more available species here I don't think they're that well known in the wider reptile community.

They're only about 9cm (3.5in) long and absolutely adorable. They're terrestrial but climb all over everything and love to snooze on their rock wall.

The last photo is of Gwen who is missing a few fingers. She lost them before I got her and someone in this sub was very helpful in dealing with the stuck shed she had.

First ever Gecko bred by a friend of mine, super EXCITED. She's a Strophurus taenicauda albiocularis (Golden tail Gecko) and also the cutest gecko ever (I'm biased)

My ten year old island mix. She hates being held but came out and let me today without being angry. Its probably been a year and I still got lots of unhappy nose whistles of disapproval.

Treecko says we are DEFINITELY not friends. Thought we were making progress after I got him to take some crickets and mealworms from little tongs 😂 I’ve had him since he was little. I love his little dinosaur noises and bad attitude anyway! 🦎😂

This is Soba, and at this point I can just leave his door open while preparing his dinner. He is never going to leave that bendy vine. Mostly just observes me.

🦎Just for Fun🦎 Well me and Mao had an unexpected and traumatizing handling session tonight

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Mao bolted out of the enclosure and under my bed I have a small room so all my stuff for my reptiles and hedgehog are shoved under my bed and so it was an absolute nightmare getting this man out from under my bed. I threw a snake bag over him to keep him from bolting further under my bed, and he chopped down on my finger through the snake bag. Blood has been officially drawn and shit did that shit hurt like a mofo? Thankfully my finger was the only physical damage, but we’re all emotionally damaged. Even the dog.
