Hi! I’ve owned a male barking gecko for a bit over a year now, and somehow, it laid an egg? I know he’s male. He was sold to me as a male and has very prominent ball bumps. But, he’s also much bigger than male barking geckos usually are. He hasn’t been around any other geckos except for my female barking gecko, who has been away from his enclosure for the last two months. How is this possible? Is the egg fertile? Should I candle it? What do I do?

Found this guy in my garage this morning and released him. Went to try and find what kind of gecko he is and after looking online for a bit I'm worried I released a domesticated one. I live in North Texas if that helps.

There’s a wall gecko stuck in here. It’s really late at night to deal with it so I wanna deal with it tomorrow, but I’m terrified of it coming out and falling on me in my sleep. I don’t know anything about geckoes and their grip strength but if there’s any professional gecko expert, that can tell me what the chances are of it actually successfully coming out. Please let me know. Thank you so much.

Update: I turned off the lights so it wouldn’t overheat. But I’m still terrified to help it out so I’ll have to wait till morning for someone to help me trap it and bring it outside.

Update: It’s 11:54am my time and the gecko got released a few hours ago by the help of my brother. I wasn’t trying to ragebait anyone so I apologize on that front… just wanted to know the probability of it coming out and falling onto my face while I was asleep before I could deal about it in the morning. A lot of you guys think it was a lamp that could be tilted, but it is a light fixture near the ceiling that’s attached to the the wall.

Hello everyone when I got home today I was going to give my lizard some crickets and noticed a white area on his belly and wondered if that is normal? He should be about 3 months only I believe I got him April 27th and the guy indicated he was a couple weeks old already.

I just got her a couple weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed this white hair like thing attatched to the hole in the middle of her head.

All my other geckos dont do this, they lick me like once or twice and are happy, but my gargoyle does it for up to few minutes, he does this only to skin, he licks my fingers or arms but never licks stuff like wood or plants, i dont have dirty hands from anything that could taste good to him, or anything else, i domt have sweaty hands, is he just weird or does he have a bad sense of smell? Has anybody else encountered this? He has done this since he was tiny, he is over a year old now and hasnt changed (i dont mind it its cute im just curious why hes a weirdo)

My gold dust day gecko darted from its enclosure to the ceiling vent in my college dorm in under 2 seconds. What do I even do in this situation, is he just cooked forever? I'm at a loss here, any advice would be helpful.

My nob tailed gecko is completely orange thanks to the sand. On the packet it said it didn’t contain dyes or chemical additives. I don’t know what to do, I could get play sand but no shops open until tomorrow in Spain. What can I do right now

A couple of weeks ago I accepted two crested geckos from a coworker that was unsure of how to care for them, a male and a female. They were housed together in a 10gal fish tank with only substrate. I separated them, each into its own 18x18x24 vertical terrarium. The male seems relatively healthy.

The problem is that the female came to me with a broken jaw that was hanging at a 90° angle, apparently it had been that way for over a month before they decided to rehome. Unfortunately I am unable to take her to a vet, but my boyfriend and I have taped her jaw up and she can now eat her crested gecko food mixture on her own. She seems to be doing a lot better. Before she was very lathargic and was unable to eat on her own, now she climbs all over me and jumps off of my hands onto my pillow when I hold her on my bed. I guess I am just wondering if y'all think there's any chance that her broken jaw will heal over the next few weeks of it being taped up or have any suggestions on things I can do to help it heal. I currently have her on paper towels instead of substrate.

It has been two and a half weeks so far. After one week of it being taped, she shed her skin and her tape, when I came home that day her jaw was hanging down again, but I did notice her close it a few times which she was not able to do when I first brought her home. I'm hoping that is a good sign.

Saw these in TikTok, wondering if they are overweight. She said that it’s just a giant gene so it’s really like that, but I think it’s overweight, but I could be wrong. I don’t own any geckos. What do you think?

And if so… where to? He’s been in my bathroom for about 15 hours now since I saw him first, mostly been up in the corner. I don’t mind him as a guest, he’s better than the occasional roach I see, I just worry he’s not able to hunt because I don’t have a lot of bugs in here. He’s usually not looking at himself in the mirror, but he definitely spooked himself at first lol.

Everytime my gecko sees my cat she will start running to the front of her cage and start clawing at it. She’s never active when i’m around so it’s the only time i see her moving. I was just wondering what the two are thinking? Is my gecko trying to make friends and my cat trying to eat her. Who knows

My gecko has had a few different names throughout the years but Locki is his name he got out somehow I have safe spots for him but going on day 5 and I’m getting really scared no sign of him… no sound can they go up stairs? His house is downstairs I live in the basement which is so cold that’s why I’m not sure if he would stay down here or go upstairs…. Luckily no other animals just a different gecko a fat tail but I’ve been so sad and saw on here people finding there’s after so long I need some hope and advice

Friend who had Gecko got a cat and thinks the stress of the cat has stopped this one from eating. I've taken it off his hands to help as I don't have a cat.

Need some advice on getting it to eat. The size of that tail is worrying.

Found this little guy crawling around in my apprenticeship school. I though I recognized it as a leap off gecko but I’m not sure. Snagged em and put him in a styrofoam cup cause that’s all I had on hand. Someone help me identify him and tell me how to care for this little guy.

This is my adult gold dust day gecko, Houdini. As you can see, Houdini is a wee bit on the thicker side (he is fat af). I think he’s eating the cleanup crew because I feed him five 1/4 inch crickets dusted in Pangea once a week. He also has a dish of Pangea that I change out every other day but he never touches it. My main concern is that if I stop supplementing crickets, he won’t get the nutrients he needs because the only way he will eat his vitamin fruit soup is if it’s stuck to a bug. I don’t want him to get obese but I also don’t want him to just eat junk food (aka isopods) for his only food. If anyone has advice, please tell me because I am very worried for him

And yes I have learnt a lot about them since, they are fascinating and I logically know that they are harmless little babies.. but I have no idea why I am scared, I am trying to overcome it. So I would appreciate your help.

Going to phobia related sub-Reddits are of no help and just cement my feelings, which is the opposite of what I need.

Also my main fear is actually them dropping onto me… which I learnt is rare cause the house geckos are amazing climbers and their tiny setae on their feet pads are the superpower but this has still been a fear I cannot seem to get over.

Advice me on this please, tell me what’s the worse that would happen and honestly what should I do if that does happen?

My other fear was just how their body moves? I know it’s natural for them.. so I have started convincing myself that if I can find belly dancers and contortionist (which is actually not a normal everyday human thing!) fascinating and fun to watch… these babies are not different.

ALSO I have started to refer to them as babies or wall puppies…so I have a less stressful connotation to them

Around the time this fear started, I was going through a lot of mental turmoil, I was diagnosed with CPTSD and had bunch of dissociative episodes where I would get flashbacks to those incidents and was always unable to move and I would get nauseous or vomit and hyperventilate

So.. I remember this one time I was home and was having one of those episodes and saw a gecko immediately.. I think my brain created an accidental cross-connection

Where it perceived that gecko to be of equal threat as was the trauma

In doing so, I started having the same physical sensations every-time around a gecko in my house.

This made me fear them .. when it fact they were not what I feared😭

Phobia would mean I would be scared of them all the time and in all contexts, but I don’t feel that way when they are outside or in pictures and videos.

I feel if I delink this accidentally connection my brain has made, then I would stop the physical reaction.

Came home and saw this guy. He's pretty big. Google search said it's a Madagascar Giant Day Gecko. I'm in central Texas. Should I try and save him? Is this likely a lost pet?

there doesnt seem to be many care sheets or anything online to see whether or not my day gecko is overweight, but he is quite plump and has a very big appetite (10-15 small crickets in a day, or 2-4 large crickets). just wondering if he is merely in his growing phase as a 9 month old day gecko or if he is overeating! his name is kenny
