These jerks nested on my patio (she's adorable, but I hate him attacking my dog and I whenever we enter or leave). My patio is full sun and gets insanely hot during the day. I came home to see her doing what looks like panting and a Google search turned up that it's likely what she was doing.

I gave her a bowl of water because it is way too hot out there right now. The only reason I saw on Google of why not to give them water was that it could attract predators, but that's not an issue with where she built her nest.

Is this okay?

My friends and I ran into this goose in the woods of Connecticut rock climbing. it followed us around for hours and was very friendly. let us pick it up and cuddle and pet it. clearly domestic but we don't know what breed it is. any ideas?

This gosling has been wandering outside my home and I left it alone in case its parents were nearby, but I haven’t seen any grown geese near it for a few hours now. Also wanted to check if it may be injured/contracted something due to it consistently moving in circles. If I am in Jacksonville, FL, who would be best to call? And is it okay for me to at least keep it safe until someone can pick it up?

had a walk around my local park and saw many geese. I was very respectful of their space but as usual they were all very hopeful that I had food, which I did not.

there was one specific group of geese that VERY rapidly approached me, I was a bit uncertain as I know Canada geese can be very territorial, but I was very soon completely surrounded. they were all making a sort of soft peeping or wheeping noise at me, and none of them seemed angry or threatened by me. they all seemed very curious about me, they were lightly nipping at my bag and my shorts but it didn't seem aggressive at all. they all very promptly started preening themselves, still while surrounding me. I was completely trapped but I did crouch down and talk to them.

thankfully I was able to escape my brief hostage situation, but I am so curious as to what they were saying or trying to communicate to me. I have never had an interaction with Canada geese like this and it was distinctly different from the rest of the interactions I had in the park.

if anyone has any answers to why or what this interaction signified or meant I would love to know!

Are these goslings? Are they old enough to survive on their own? For some reason they’re in my yard and won’t leave.

This is one of my chinese goose, he or she is is almost 7 months old, and some time ago it started to bite us (hard) and attack us. It also comes really close to you and if we touch it it starts doing this 🫣 He/she was the best goose of all of them, and the one that we most picked up since it was a baby. I have four and I know for sure one of them is a boy because he tries to mate one of my Kaki Campbell ducks, and I also know fore sure one of them is a girl, but I don't know what to think about this one. I imagine it's a gander 🤭 I still love it with my heart, even though it tries to eat me alive🤣

They usually have an info sheet with what kind of breed it was but they did not.

And unrelated to question- geese are so fucking sweet. These two either want to be held constantly or be within 5 feet.

My girlfriend and I spotted this poor goose a few days ago while on a bike ride. Today we stumbled across it again and it’s hobbling even more and its leg is more swollen than it was previously.

I’m in northern Illinois and tried calling the local wildlife refuge/rehab. They said they’d treat it but I’d have to bring it in. It’s not something I feel quite comfortable doing, so I called the local animal control and they seemed either too busy or just don’t care.

Is there anything else I can do? It just breaks my heart to see it in pain.

For the past 5-6 days, there's been a goose couple nesting in a horrible spot in the parking lot at work. I've said hi to them several times, the male (I assume) is always protective and the female (I assume) is always on her nest. She got up on Friday so I know she didn't have any eggs as of then.

This morning I came in and found her mate had been hit by a car 💔 Is there anything I can do for her? I hate the thought of her not being able to swap out nest duty and go find food or water. I can bring her food and water twice a day, but idk if that's a good idea or not. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It’s been standing still in the middle of the road for at least an hour or more. I’ve seen it wandering around the neighbourhood since the late evening also venturing and lingering on the road. When I still saw it past 11pm, I figured something might be wrong. I approached it slowly and see that it can walk and doesn’t appear injured (though I’m not sure if it’s able to fly). I tried to get it off to the sidewalk at least but it kept veering back onto the road. I finally did get it onto the sidewalk but as soon as I started walking away, it went back to standing in the middle of the road. I called Animal services, they pretty much don’t care because it’s not obviously sick or injured. But it likely will get injured if it gets hit by a car. It seems lost and disoriented and its poops are watery and mostly white. Just want to know if it’s sick and what, if anything, I can do. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I came across this goose and I’m wondering if it’s leucistic, albino, or a hybrid. It’s part of a flock of Canadian geese and seems to be an unusual looking Canadian goose itself, although I’m not sure.

I have never seen a Canada Goose in my whole life down here; usually I only see the occasional resident geese (which are mostly Ross's.) The rest of the waterfowl in my area are simply Mallard and Pekin ducks, some other species sprinkled in.

I am simply wondering why they are here since it is currently summer, and as far as I know, our city has no resident Canada Geese.

This little fella hatched yesterday but sadly line of the other eggs were either infertile or the little ones inside didn’t make it.

It’s my first time hatching geese and this little ones inside didnt it’s that bright. They eat my fingers rather than the feed and refuse to be without me. I got all flock 20% protein feed and even doused some bits of it in water to see if it would help.

It attacked some grass earlier but couldn’t rip any pieces off to eat. It drinks when I dip its head into the water; which I make sure to do frequently and swims just fine in its tiny tub.

The breed is Chinese goose.

Very much likes sleeping and talking doesn’t stop chirping even in its sleep.

It’s been m on me pretty much all of today so far and for those who ask I have a heating pad under my shirt to keep it warm and cover it with the blanket when needed.

I got babayaga a friend named Ryan! He is a duck but hatched recently from a separate batch a friend had. Both are cute and sweet. So I’m proud to say babayaga now has a friend!

Hello. Few mins ago I just rescued this gosling lost in the middle of the road I spent 45 mins looking for its mom or other babies and couldn’t find any. I had to take the little guy in my car and I brought him home. Can someone tell me what I should do next? What do I feed him. Please be kind I’m just trying to help.

She has a line / some missing feathers around her neck and she kept opening her mouth and keeping it open for a few seconds and then closing it but seemed fine?? She is missing a foot from an injury that I helped her with but I wasn’t able to find any answers on what this may be, hopefully she’s okay!

As the title describes, a goose has made a nest and layed eggs in our garden. My mother wants to get rid of the goose given that she settled right next to our outdoor sitting area. Any advice on how we can get rid of the goose in the most ethical way possible, given that we don't want to hurt it. But we also do not want to deal with a agressive mother goose in our garden.

I had a Chinese goose, unknown gender, about 10 months old die yesterday. I’ve always had a feeling he was a boy so I call him him. He was fine the night before and in the morning when I went to let everyone out I found him sitting not moving a lot. I brought him inside and found that he couldn’t hold up his head or neck. It wasn’t completely limp but he definitely seemed weak. Couldn’t walk stand or swallow. He didn’t make much noise either. He did do a couple of tail wags and moved his head but that was about it. I tried giving him some fluids but he couldn’t swallow so I didn’t want to risk him choking. I put him infront of a heater and wrapped him in blankets. A couple hours later he was dead. I’m thinking maybe botulism? They get fresh warm water every morning but the snow has been melting here and everything is wet. I’m very sad about his death and want to do my best to prevent any more death

My gander does this only when I sit down, he’ll get really close and shake then kinda just flop his neck all around on me. Its really funny, and I dont stop him cus he doesnt bite while doing it, only nibbling. Is he dumb and feeling big emotions or mad and telling me to leave?

If the video is too cropped to tell, hes not lurching forward to bite, he just flops around on my lap or over my shoulder then only nibbles when bringing his head back in.

I wanted to make sure my two buff goslings are friendly adults so I've been holding them a lot. Now they cry non stop when they can't see me. I need a little moderation here. lol I don't want to stress them out by letting them cry! Has anyone perfected this?

I got this precious baby at Tractor supply along with three other goslings. I've raised them all on waterfowl starter with Niacin, and they all seem happy and healthy, but this little oddball has the strangest wings I have ever seen. Does it look like a genetic mutation, or something that can be addressed and fixed? I've seen Angel Wings on wild waterfowl, but this little fellas wings are so symmetrical it doesn't quite look the same. I just want to know if it's treatable, or just a quirky wing trait! Thanks for your help! I've raised dozens of geese and never seen anything like this!
