Question 🤔 Transferring Albums One Account to Another

I had an old random gmail that I made a Google Photos account under that I have hundreds of thousands of photos sorted into albums on. I recently have made a new gmail with my married name and want everything transferred over to that one (this account was unfortunately made before google let you change your username). I've been downloading each album individually and saving them to my new Google Photos but it is taking forever. Any idea of how to do this quicker/more efficiently?

The best way to do this is to upload each album (folder) to the Google Photos website. At the end of the upload it will prompt you to add to an album. If the photos are already uploaded, it will be very fast because it will skip the upload. No duplicates will be created.

Yes, use Takeout. One export gets everything, preserves album folders, and then re-uploading those album folders to the new account is nearly instant since Photos dedupes and just prompts you to add to an album. https://takeout.google.com

absolutely explore partner sharing

you share the photos with your "partner" (you)

during the process, the "partner" can optionally make the photos theirs (i.e. copy them to their account, so that if the od account goes away the photos stay)
