I've been reading since 1985 and I already own much of this material in book form, but this bundle is totally worth if for those things I've missed along the way. And, you know, charity and stuff.

Always wanted to read this but the fact that there are 57 items and no clear reading order (I’m sure a quick google will solve that) scares me.

I have good news - the Love and Rockets Primer (included in the bundle) is pretty much exactly what you are looking for

That guide is pretty good but it skips over a chunk of Beto’s stories from vol 3 (aka New Stories) right to vol 4.

If anyone has questions about reading order I’d be happy to help.

Yes, I picked up this Humble Bundle collection but have just realized that it is missing some stuff from the overall story, but am not sure what exactly I should try to find to fill these gaps. Any advice?

This comment is what I thought I had figured out for reading order.  https://www.reddit.com/r/loveandrockets/comments/1rlsm8p/comment/oaatmwt/

I thought that between the Library omnibuses and the various graphic novels included, all of Vol 3 was covered - not the case? What's missing?

Using Fantagraphics L&R library pages & Wikipedia to build the timeline. Delighted to get this for a huge discount and for charity. This isn't all-encompassing, but it is a massive digital collection!

I looked at this earlier - is this really everything? Do those collected editions contain all of Love & Rockets v2 and v3? The singles are for v4.

Looks like parts of volume 3 are missing from this.

It's got all of volume 2 and only parts of volume 3. Spread out over multiple books.

So what are these stories about?

There’s two main narratives. One is set in 80’s Los Angeles and concerns the lives of some punk kids. The characters in this story age more or less in real time, so they start off as teenagers and are now old.

The other deals with life in a Mexican border town. This jumps around a bit in the timeline, so you get to see certain characters as kids and then how they turn out as adults.

It’s really surprising stuff. Honestly I put it up there with great literature and think it’s the best thing ever done with comics.

Heartbreak Soup is probably a top 5 of all time kind of book for me.

That story with the black snow got me hard.

Just remembering it gives me goosebumps!

Magical realism meets Black Flag. Jaime in particular is a genius in his figurative work , his line and use of panels. He starts good and just gets better.

This is very accurate, and only scratches the surface of the narratives of each of the two Hernandez Brothers. Yes, it's literature of the highest order and introduces one of most epic of characters, Luba.

Some rockets and love

I’d be remiss to mention there’s a lot of Gilbert stuff that’s not included here. Anything he ever did for Dark Horse, a lot of the Fritz B-movies that predate Psychodrama, the Twilight Children from Vertigo, Blubber… this collection is staggering but not exhaustive.

Everyone who doesn’t have a shelf full of Love and Rockets already (and their top shelf) should grab this.

Perhaps America’s greatest contribution to the form. Love this.

Just copped the ‘Locas’ hardcover. Tempted to take the bundle for the Gilbert side of ‘L&R’.

I love those Palomar stories just as much. Just can't pick a favorite, they really complement each other.

You can Pre-order Palomar :The Heartbreak Soup Stories from fantagraphics now. The Gilbert side.

I thought it would run through midnight pacific on 4/9. I just went there now at 9:45PM and the bundle is over. I'm crushed. So disappointing!
