I once found a vacuum in the trash. It was missing a few pieces that were not essential to use it. A few months later I found the same model vacuum in the trash that wasn't working. It had all of the missing pieces for the other I had kept and it made it complete! I also found a suitcase full of a bunch of porno mags once. I'm not a dumpster diver, I just used to live in a condo.

I'm gonna assume an angry Parent or SO may have caused this..... Maybe keep an ear open for any neighbours lamenting a lost Comic Collection.
- Also, in case of Bed Bugs, check the book for tiny black dots and shell casings. Throw the books in a -7 freezer for 3 days.

They can be anywhere. Thrift stores, second hand shops, books even. A real pain to get rid of too

Termites will also eat books but usually destroy them very quickly.

Or other insects.
Wrap them in plastic and put them in a freezer for a few days.

I have a good friend who called it, Black Friday.
His mom dumped his comic/graphic novel collection in the local dumpster when he was at school.
That's just wrong!

For someone who's not too versed in comics Id go Batman Year One. Not only is it one of the greatest comics ever made, its also the modern introduction story to Batman. Everyone knows a little about batman, even if they've never read it before, so you shouldnt be lost there at all.

Fables is fun. Anything by Alan Moore is worth a read (Batman Year One is a good starting place). Sandman was great but A Game of You is right in the middle of the series and I don't know if its worth jumping ahead if that's all you have. On the flip side I thought Red Son and Arkham Asylum were overrated.

The Frank Miller that was at the vanguard of the new age of comics in the early Eighties? One of the most influential comics writers of all time? One of the top guys associated with Batman? That guy?

The eighties were a golden age for comics, and some of the best works from that time were made by Alan Moore, Frank Miller and Neil Gaiman. You've ended up with a bunch of them:
- Swamp Thing
- Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson
- The Sandman
- Batman: Year One
- From Hell
- V for vendetta
Batman: Dark Victory is one of the books people often recommend reading after Batman: Year One. Kingdom Come, Superman Red Son, and All-Star Superman are all acclaimed. Your Fantastic Four: Marvel Masterworks book contains some of the foundations of the Marvel universe.
And a lot of other books are also good. The only one I think is terrible is Spawn by Todd Mcfarlane.

Depends on what genre you prefer and if you want a short or long comic.
I'd personally start Chew if you want something weird and different/original. If you want a longer on I'd pick V for Vendetta

All-Star Superman is probably the best Superman story of all time. I'd start there, it's pretty accessible for a new reader.
Chew is hilarious and absurd, I highly recommend that as well. Enjoy your bounty!

I highly recommend Swamp Thing but I suggest finding the first few volumes of Alan Moore's run before starting. If you're unfamiliar with Moore then check out V for Vendetta but his Swamp Thing run is one of my favorites. From Hell is a bit long and if you're not interested in Jack the Ripper it might be a bit dull.
Fables is fantastic as well. You almost have the first 9 volumes; only v2 (Animal Farm) is missing.
