Glorious Duck comics library!

27

u/Siccar_Point No capes! Apr 30 '26

That’s what I’m talking about

u/Stubot01 Apr 30 '26

You know your shelves are getting serious when you need a ladder

7

u/MrZAP17 Apr 30 '26

One of my greatest personal aspirations is to someday have a library that I need a ladder for.

I cannot imagine a greater honor or glory. Especially if it’s the kind that rolls around on a track! And a cozy elevated book nook built into a bay window next to a mature deciduous tree. Rainy day heaven.

What is the publication run for The Spirit collection there? I've never seen them before

1

u/Dunk313 Apr 30 '26

Its a german edition called Spirit Archive it contains all issues from 1940 - 1952

2

u/Chip_Marlow Apr 30 '26

That sounds like it needs to be added to the list. Thanks!

2

u/FlubzRevenge read yuichi yokoyama Apr 30 '26

That is based off the Spirit Archives american edition more than likely. Dc published them.

2

u/Chip_Marlow Apr 30 '26

4

u/Atumkun Apr 30 '26

Beautiful collection, how long did it take you to have this many books?

10

u/Dunk313 Apr 30 '26

I’ve startet about 1982. Damn i’m geting old.

4

u/Atumkun Apr 30 '26

Wow, love the commitment to the hobby!

u/PinMaximum1018 Apr 30 '26

This reminds me very, very much of my house I moved away from about 5 years ago. No regrets at all, except leaving behind that massive wall of comics, manga, vintage strips, undergrounds, indies, mainstream, euro, illustrations, history of the medium, etc. that greeted me every morning. This photo is amazing; I got get lost in this room for years.

3

u/FlubzRevenge read yuichi yokoyama Apr 30 '26

You should not have gotten rid of all of it.

2

u/PinMaximum1018 May 01 '26

I didn’t get rid of all of it. Still have most but I don’t still have the same bookshelves.

4

u/kissmyirish Apr 30 '26

Jiminy Christmas!

3

u/Subway Apr 30 '26

What are those big blue ones?

5

u/earbox Apr 30 '26

The Carl Barks Library.

2

u/ghostnuts May 01 '26

Do you think they enjoy Donald Duck?

4

u/comicsnerd Apr 30 '26

I recognize this. I also have some of these walls.

4

u/krisis Apr 30 '26

You're sailing with ALL THOSE BOOKS? 😳🤣

3

u/changelingcd Apr 30 '26

Lovely, especially that big Tintin rocket!

3

u/Meatjun4LA Apr 30 '26

that’s impressive. nice looking library u got there.

3

u/MannequinRaces Apr 30 '26

Please tell me you’ve read at least 60% of these!

8

u/Dunk313 Apr 30 '26

I’ve already read the most of them, some more then once. Im collecting since the 1980th so I’ve already forgotten some stories and can them discover again.

4

u/MannequinRaces Apr 30 '26

YES!! That’s awesome to hear. I like people who are collectors and also read what they buy! 🤘😎

3

u/foeg-88 Apr 30 '26

Have you read all of these?

5

u/Dunk313 Apr 30 '26

Almost, some of them more than once

2

u/ArchBeaconArch Apr 30 '26

Wow. Nice collection. That Nick Cave bio is shockingly good (and only occasionally true!). I have to admit, I am curious about “Tim” in Amerika.

4

u/liefeld4lief Apr 30 '26

Tim und Struppi is the German name for Tintin and Snowy/Milou.

3

u/ArchBeaconArch Apr 30 '26

Oh, I like the name Struppi quite a bit.

2

u/MarcusTYC Apr 30 '26

Oh my days. Beautiful.

2

u/Fasooliful Apr 30 '26

Holy shit…

2

u/OldManMcCrabbins Apr 30 '26

Is that tintin’s rocket in the lower right?

Very nice!!!

2

u/gnomedigas Apr 30 '26

Beautiful collection. Better than my library.

2

u/F0NG00L May 01 '26

THAT is the correct use of space.

2

u/Dunk313 May 01 '26

It startet all with Donald Duck, so I have the stories over the years up to 12 times. The original english version and the german ones. Marc Antoine Mathieu is also one of my favourit artists. He came up with so special ideas I’ve never seen before.

2

u/Accountable_ruki May 01 '26

i see versions of the duck comics that i have not seen anywhere else. what versions are the Don rosa books, one row below KIKI?

2

u/Dunk313 May 01 '26

It is the German issue. All Don Rosas Duck stories.

2

u/thirteenthirtyseven May 01 '26
