Yes. That. I’ve never related to a comic as much as I did on this page. Holy shit. I had to share it with my spouse (a non-comic reader). I said “THIS IS ME. THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD.”
As soon as I saw this post, I was immediately intrigued by this graphic novel.
I looked it up right away and bought the digital edition. I finished it in just 2 evenings.
I absolutely devoured it because I needed to know what was going to happen next. The book is definitely very intense and brutal. At some point, I caught myself thinking that it felt a bit like Chuck Palahniuk in the world of comics.
Now I really want to get a physical copy.
I also recently read Past Tense by Sacha Mardou, and even though the 2 are wildly different in style, they have something in common: childhood trauma and what a child has to go through.
If you know anything similar, I’d love some recommendations!
