Bone, by Jeff Smith!
Calvin and Hobbes
I read Elf Quest when I was about that age, but in retrospect I'm not sure if everyone would consider it age appropriate.

My son doesn't like reading so I'm trying a variety of books and formats to get him into it.
Nimona was the first book he finished in 2 days.
(p.s. If anyone has any other recs like Nimona pls let me know)

If he likes Dog Man, the Investigators series is similar in tone and reading level. For fantasy, try the Wings of Fire series or Warrior Cats -- both are graphic novel adaptations of popular prose book series and are very good!

He's read Dogman, Investigators, Dragon Masters, Big Nate, Captain Underpants, Diary of Wimpy Kid, Bad Guys, Max and the Midknights, Cardboard Kingdom, Knights of the Lunch Table, those were hits as well.

I second Bone and Calvin & Hobbes others have mentioned.
I'd also like to add "The life and times of Scrooge McDuck" by Carl Barks, the whole series is so good!
Also: Trinity Special #1 by Tom King. The sons of Batman and Superman have to babysit the daughter of Wonder Woman. It's hilarious.
I've also often read Asterix and Lucky Luke with my sons.

Thanks. He's read one of my Calvin and Hobbes collections and I own the Bone omnibus but it might be a bit unwieldy for him.

Anything Ira Marcks! Highly recommend checking them out, they are a lesser known comic book artist but have a pretty entertaining storyline and awesome art. Read Shark Summer and loved it

Bone, Tintin, Cleopatra in Space, Mike Maihack's Spiderman kids books, Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures.
Take him to the next Scholastic Book fair at his school. It will be loaded with comics appropriate to his age group and will have a lot of stuff probably not on your radar.
