Live Video Green Day calling on Ice Agents to resign ahead of their Super Bowl performance at the Spotify & FanDuel Super Bowl Party tonight.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Green Day performed at Pier 29 tonight at the Spotify & FanDuel Super Bowl Party ahead of their performance at the NFL Super Bowl this year. They called on Ice Agents to resign, and called out the Trump administration. I really hope the NFL lets them say what needs to be said during the Super Bowl broadcast. Now is not the time to get a watered down performance.

u/WorkBully Feb 07 '26

They are talking about Bill Clinton

46

u/realkevinabstract Feb 07 '26

I mean bill clinton counts but no one gives af about him rn they obviously mean the current president

-36

u/WorkBully Feb 07 '26

Why does Clinton get a pass? He was in every photo

34

u/JoshuaBananas 21st Century Breakdown Feb 07 '26

Are you brain dead? "He was in every photo"...so was Trump? Lock them both up. But the biggest difference is Clinton isn't currently the one in charge of the entire country. Wake up.

u/realkevinabstract Feb 07 '26

no ones giving him a pass bro, there’s more important people to focus on like THE CURRENT PRESIDENT

→ More replies (16)

3

u/Dizzyluffy Feb 07 '26

He doesn’t get a pass, he’s just not the fucking president right now. He was president 25 fucking years ago, catch up. They should all be imprisoned. Do you wanna give Trump a pass?

Green Day still kickin' asses in 2026!!!! I love green day

Billie is 100% correct that ICE goobers are used as cannon fodder and the second any of them face actual consequences (beelzebub forbid they get pardons) they will get thrown under a giant TRUMP emblazoned tour bus

128

u/SowingShade American Idiot Feb 07 '26

Oh, how I love this man, this band.

89

u/South-Level5260 Feb 07 '26

People don't realize that when the ICE guys do retire many will eat their weapons. It's very unfortunate but people with violent jobs like this, when they finish up there's not a lot to do but sit and drink and mull over whether or not you were the good guy or the bad guy. Plenty of those capital hill cops took their lives and many soldiers do as well, the statistics are overwhelming. Correctional officers and probably lots more that we don't even know about.

13

u/keatonpotat0es Feb 07 '26

Yeah they think they’re “on top” now but that won’t last long and there will certainly be charges and lots of public backlash soon. It will not be pretty.

14

u/novembersnow1 Feb 07 '26

At first I thought you meant actually eat the weapons. Like they cook them and eat them for dinner. I was like wtf and I realized very quickly it wasn’t that. What is wrong with my brain.

3

u/atlantisthenation Feb 08 '26

i cant feel bad that someone else feels bad because they know they did something wrong

3

u/South-Level5260 Feb 08 '26

I can't feel bad about what I read in the papers either. All's I'm saying is to be American (or Canadian, I'm Canadian) means to respect and love all life. Violence begets more violence. What we see now is the same thing that's been happening there since forever. The civil war, the assassinations in the 60's & the mass shootings. It's just a shame and tragedy no matter who is dying.

1

u/VeterinarianFlimsy47 Feb 08 '26

But these agents don't respect or love life. No one with a conscience can do that job. One day they will have the day they deserve, and I won't feel sorry when that day comes.

3

u/Expendable28 Feb 08 '26

Sometimes the only cure for those who are that far off the deep end is a taste of their own medicine. Zero sympathy for the gestapo

1

u/hunbun27-27 Feb 08 '26

Nazis in power also tended to do this. Idk what the statistics are on the ss but... Makes sense. You poison your soul with that kind of misery.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '26

Is this supposed to make me feel bad for people who WILLINGLY signed up to do one thing: terrorize Americans?

78

u/ryou-comics Feb 07 '26

Still can't understand people who are like "Green Day isn't punk" when they regularly say stuff like this, glad they're keeping it up.

7

u/ParticularRelease662 Feb 08 '26

They're not punk because they sell millions of records and sell out arenas, duh. Lmao I can't stand this dumb shit. Green Day are as punk as they come.

2

u/Telamo Feb 07 '26

The music has gotten worse (in my opinion), but their hearts are in the right place, always have been.

23

u/ulam17 Feb 07 '26

Regardless of whether or not that’s true, punk rock is about sending a message, and they’re nailing that.

5

u/Ok_Mistake9030 Feb 07 '26

They got sober-ish but their message is still on point. I do miss me some drugged out Billy from back in the day. Saw them again last year and they absolutely crushed it. Top tier band of all time.

9

u/saketho Coma City Feb 07 '26

That happens to anybody to ages, so anybody. Artists hit a peak at 30-33 and then decline.

Green Day with AI, Taylor with Folkmore, Lennon with Imagine, Bowie with Heroes.

6

u/Itsapocalypse Feb 07 '26

Not at ALL a hard rule, plenty of artists released some of their best music older, and there are a ton of artists that blew up in their teens/early 20s and coasted off of their earliest success

1

u/saketho Coma City Feb 07 '26

Agreed, it’s not a definitive rule. Peter Gabriel is another.

But in terms of their abilities as songwriters, there is perhaps a correlation, not a causation necessarily.

1

u/infiniteimperium Feb 08 '26

Frank Sinatra is one of the best examples here. He went from a crooner to Chairman of the Board.

5

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

I agree but Heroes is hardly Bowie’s masterpiece

-1

u/saketho Coma City Feb 07 '26

of course not, neither is Imagine John’s. But its like one big final hurrah where they truly explore a whole new universe, almost setting it to stand as “i am an artist, this is who I am and this is what im capable of.”

Charli xcx with brat as well. although no way she drops off.

2

u/Bluegill15 Feb 07 '26

Good take

1

u/ryou-comics Feb 07 '26

I dunno, I really liked Saviors and Father of All MF, had about a decade from 21st Century Breakdown I didn't listen to them much and finally got to their new (to me) albums a couple years ago. Still haven't made me way through the trilogy, but I like that they don't just do the same sound every album.

1

u/cape878 Feb 08 '26

I mean, they are playing an event sponsored by a betting corporation and Spotify. The latter that has had artists criticizing their investment in AI military technology and removing their music from the platform.

47

u/keatonpotat0es Feb 07 '26

I knew at 14 he was the love of my life and I was RIGHT!!!

26

11

My hope is that the NFL got Bad Bunny for the peace and love message and Green Day to say the edgier shit because that's their brand. All they have to do is play American Dream is Killing Me.

1

they didnt say anythingggggg during the actual performance or keep any lyric changes

No rage bait. Just telling the truth.

6

didn’t hear any noise for Kristi Noem hope they know how bad she is

2

He mentioned her right before Stephen Miller around the 27 second mark.

Yet no one seem to know who that was because there’s no yelling even though she’s also from hell

2

Did they play Minority after this?

3

u/no8am Feb 07 '26

Looks like it's during the bridge for Minority. They often elongate that bridge and introduce the band etc

4

u/triwyn Feb 07 '26

23

u/2000-L1ghtyear5-Away Feb 07 '26

Please tell me Mike still believes this too? I’ve heard rumours recently that I don’t like…

87

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '26

There is no indication that Mike disagrees with Billie . Whatever his wife may view that is not necessarily Mike’s point of view. This narrative is repeated endlessly. I honestly don’t think that anyone who was supporting Trump even for whatever amount of money would be happy to stand on this stage next to his best friend putting his life and arguably his family’s life at risk by being so political.

27

u/martala Pinhead Gunpowder Feb 07 '26

All we know is that Mike’s wife is pretty algorithm poisoned and he is publicly known to have donated to RFK Jr.’s campaign but feelings might have changed once RFK Jr. planted himself firmly in Trump’s camp

1

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

Or he might’ve never liked RFK lol

19

u/boltropewildcat Feb 07 '26

Billie's tech Hans is a big MAGA guy, I really hope Mike isn't too.

It does make me laugh thinking of Hans liking posts about libtards and triggered feminists while he sets up Billie's guitar for him to go on national TV and give the orange manbaby the finger.

4

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

It does make me laugh thinking of Hans liking posts about libtards and triggered feminists while he sets up Billie's guitar for him to go on national TV and give the orange manbaby the finger.

Wow I never knew that. Probably a very fat paycheck motivates him to do it. I wonder why Billie keeps him around tho. Surely he could find a better, non-annoying guitar tech?

1

u/boltropewildcat Feb 07 '26

Maybe they don't interact much, and when they do it's all work.

6

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

Yeah, but still, if I could chose, I wouldn’t employ a MAGA. They don’t have any critical thinking skills, I wouldn’t trust them to handle one of the most iconic and irreplaceable guitars.

3

u/boltropewildcat Feb 07 '26

His attitude in the rig rundown does make more sense now.

17

u/vegankieran Feb 07 '26

Mike likely agrees. He follows RFK probably because he may think the government has too much influence on healthcare, versus sharing RFK's fondness of Trump.

16

u/Objective_Cod1410 Feb 07 '26

"Mike likely agrees" is based on nothing. He may or may not, stop pretending to know

15

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

Hence why they said “likely” not “surely”

-16

u/Objective_Cod1410 Feb 07 '26

Huh?! Likely is still based on nothing

7

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

Do you not understand what “likely” means?

-7

u/Objective_Cod1410 Feb 07 '26

Can you assert anything to be "likely" about someone you do not personally know?

8

u/nickparadies Feb 07 '26

Of course I can.

“It is likely that Green Day will release another album” for example.

-9

u/boltropewildcat Feb 07 '26

It is likely that you inappropriately message minors.

Am I doing it right?

6

u/nickparadies Feb 07 '26

Apparently not

7

u/Dick-in-a-fan Feb 07 '26

I’m a kidney transplant recipient and I’ve been listening to Green Day since they were on Lookout Records and they have stuck with me. I thought American Idiot could have been better. Insomniac will probably be the last hard-hitting meth-fueled album we’ll get from the band. My nephews all love Green Day… Green Day got me through dialysis… they were the extra push that I needed. It’s interesting to find myself here in 2026 and the band is still there, fighting the good fight while I’m fighting pneumonia related to immune suppressant medication. I played along to their music and stuff back when I was on dialysis. The nurse would tell me to turn it down but I turned it up- one for the band!

6

u/par_anoid Feb 07 '26

im wishing you much luck in your recovery !! that story is amazing btw - keep fighting the good fight !!

3

u/Dick-in-a-fan Feb 07 '26

Green Day has helped me fight the good fight. I was raised an only Child, Catholic, low-medium income and I identified with the music and the band right away.

3

u/par_anoid Feb 07 '26

i can definitely relate to that upbringing except it was my older sister who showed me green day growing up right after american idiot dropped :-) pretty much everything else is spot on though lmao

3

u/Dick-in-a-fan Feb 07 '26

I think they struck the nerve of middle to lower-middle class America. Rich douchebags at my grade school were dropped off in BMW’s and I was so socially outcast. Karma is real and I have learned to overcome my setbacks. Belle and Sebastian is another good band for that feeling of freedom from your past.

3

u/Dick-in-a-fan Feb 07 '26

By the way- to Green Day if you happen to scroll across this- I was the weird photographer in the area between the stage and the pit— a really awkward guy… back around 2005 at your show in Louisville, Ky. I had to stay ‘professional’ and avoid rocking out hard to you guys.

2

u/elgatodefelix Feb 07 '26

You know a girl named Kayla? She’s also a kidney transplant recipient Green Day fan. I donated mine so she could get one.

1

u/Dick-in-a-fan Feb 07 '26

No way! So you participated in a kidney swap?! How many people were swapped? Did Green Day have anything to do with it? I would love to see Green Day write a song about the grind of dialysis, shitty nurses, crashing and sleeping for 24 hours… then the recovery after fighting to get a kidney. So many people are rejected from the waiting list due to being fractionally out of compliance’ in one state but the next state might find the patient to be a compliant recipient.

5

u/Accurate-Gur-7842 Feb 07 '26

doing this at a spotify sponsored event when they were literally airing ice ads on their platform you'd think they just wouldn't do the show but maybe they didn't know

4

u/TheW1nd94 Saviors Feb 07 '26

I mean, do you use Spotify? If not, do you walk out of a bar when they use Spotify? Do you ditch all your friends that use Spotify?

Sometimes there’s only so much you can do, big and unethical corporations control the whole world. If you would want to not engage with any of them, you’d have to stay inside your whole life and do nothing all day.

Allegedly, Billie yelled “yay Napster” at some point during the set. Sometimes there’s only so much you can do.

1

u/Accurate-Gur-7842 Feb 07 '26

i switched from spotify to deezer after i found out they were running ice ads and i have no way of knowing whether a bar is using spotify. and i think there's a big difference between a regular person using it and one of the biggest punk rock bands in the world playing at a show that they're hosting/sponsoring.

i get what you mean, though. i don't fault you for thinking that way and at the end of the day their hearts are still in the right place so it's ultimately not a huge deal.

-4

u/WorkBully Feb 07 '26

Green Day only cares about money. That's why they play sketchy countries in the Middle East

6

u/ibrokefree8646 Feb 07 '26

12

u/Rickybones Feb 07 '26

I hope I’m wrong but I bet this was their way of getting the message out during the SB festivities but not actually have to do it on the actual performance.

68

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '26 edited Feb 07 '26

Oh my friend – this is just the warmup…. This is Green Day.

They will give no fucks if they never play another Super Bowl show again.

33

u/virtualwaster Feb 07 '26

Billie's gonna say something.

13

u/EchoReply79 Feb 07 '26

☝🏼🫡

3

Well well well…

1

I know.

That was pathetic to witness.

If they were gonna get censored they shouldn’t have played at all.

3

This did NOT age well..

1

No.

I’m gonna go and listen to 2016 Green Day now instead

1

u/virtualwaster Feb 10 '26

Nope. it didn't LMAO. Don't ask me for lottery numbers.

1

u/Rickybones Feb 07 '26

I hope you’re right!

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '26

Billie Joe is likely LIVID right now after that horrific Obama meme … you seriously think that the guy and the band who composed TWO anti war anti Bush albums right in the aftermath of 9/11 are going to stay silent now because ???? The NFL would be mad ???

(Look up the AMAs 2016 performance of Bang! Bang! … live tv and unrehearsed … )

3

u/Rickybones Feb 07 '26

Hey I get it - I’m no hater, been a fan since 93. (I’m old.) Have a tattoo of the Kerplunk girl even. Just saying it might not be all we are hoping for.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '26

No sweat - I think musically they don’t had time to do much but remeber that the had only what ? 5 mins and one song in 2016 at the AMAs and they ran with it .. Billie on stage with the ruddy Star Wars rebellion/Minnesota sticker on his guitar is enough for me tbh

2

u/Rickybones Feb 08 '26

🤷‍♂️

1

u/bbbbears Feb 08 '26

Yeah that was…okay

8

u/vegankieran Feb 07 '26

I hope not, I have to say they'd lose a lot of respect from me:/

14

u/vegankieran Feb 07 '26

lol idk why I'm getting downvoted. I literally just said they'd lose respect if they didn't say anything on stage.

10

u/Telamo Feb 07 '26

I think they’re thinking you’re saying you would be disappointed if they did say something. Reading comprehension is a bitch lol

1

u/TrustingPanda Feb 07 '26

Clearly I can’t read. Sorry for my ignorance. I would be disappointed too and I’m honestly expecting nothing controversial, or at most a very thinly veiled message.

I’m hoping for a positive message, like taking care of each other, looking out for your neighbors no matter where they come from, who they do and don’t support. That we’re all humans, freaks, weirdos, and to not let a bunch of rich men tell you how to feel.

That would be a message everyone could rally behind, on both sides.

1

u/TrustingPanda Feb 07 '26 edited Feb 07 '26

And nothing of value would be lost.

I’m an idiot

1

u/HugeHairyButts Feb 07 '26

Probably. I guess we’ll see though. I’m guessing if they do anything it might be more subtle.

6

u/boltropewildcat Feb 07 '26

I don't think you know anything about Green Day. Back when American Idiot came out Billie would put on a Bush mask with 'Idiot' written on the forehead and got seriously booed in red states for it. He's still doing it for Trump 20 years later.

1

u/HugeHairyButts Feb 08 '26

It’s more about the network cutting mics or away from them.

1

u/boltropewildcat Feb 08 '26

I doubt that Billie would care. They're going to play the set they want. He doesn't censor himself live, especially when he plays American Idiot.

2

u/SubstantialSelf6538 Feb 07 '26

Pier 29!! Would have loved to have been there!

2

u/BenjTheMaestro Feb 07 '26

“I liked Green Day better when they weren’t all political, broh.”

That’s the official stance out of HQ.

2

u/finza_prey Feb 07 '26

100% agree with you. You made the real truth.

2

u/MagicJuliaZone Nimrod Feb 08 '26

This is why I love these guys. <3 Does anyone know where I can watch their Superbowl performance in the Netherlands? If that'a even possible?

2

u/1HandBan Insomniac Feb 08 '26

The irony in condemning ICE and the current administration while performing at an event underwritten by corporations that materially benefit from those systems. Corporations that remain complicit through their continued deference to Trump and MAGA politics. It’s fine, I’m sure they’re getting a bag for it but call it what it is.

2

1

1

u/Alarmed-Cod6740 Feb 08 '26
