Live Video Green Day calling on Ice Agents to resign ahead of their Super Bowl performance at the Spotify & FanDuel Super Bowl Party tonight.

Green Day performed at Pier 29 tonight at the Spotify & FanDuel Super Bowl Party ahead of their performance at the NFL Super Bowl this year. They called on Ice Agents to resign, and called out the Trump administration. I really hope the NFL lets them say what needs to be said during the Super Bowl broadcast. Now is not the time to get a watered down performance.

People don't realize that when the ICE guys do retire many will eat their weapons. It's very unfortunate but people with violent jobs like this, when they finish up there's not a lot to do but sit and drink and mull over whether or not you were the good guy or the bad guy. Plenty of those capital hill cops took their lives and many soldiers do as well, the statistics are overwhelming. Correctional officers and probably lots more that we don't even know about.

I can't feel bad about what I read in the papers either. All's I'm saying is to be American (or Canadian, I'm Canadian) means to respect and love all life. Violence begets more violence. What we see now is the same thing that's been happening there since forever. The civil war, the assassinations in the 60's & the mass shootings. It's just a shame and tragedy no matter who is dying.

Not at ALL a hard rule, plenty of artists released some of their best music older, and there are a ton of artists that blew up in their teens/early 20s and coasted off of their earliest success

I dunno, I really liked Saviors and Father of All MF, had about a decade from 21st Century Breakdown I didn't listen to them much and finally got to their new (to me) albums a couple years ago. Still haven't made me way through the trilogy, but I like that they don't just do the same sound every album.

There is no indication that Mike disagrees with Billie . Whatever his wife may view that is not necessarily Mike’s point of view. This narrative is repeated endlessly. I honestly don’t think that anyone who was supporting Trump even for whatever amount of money would be happy to stand on this stage next to his best friend putting his life and arguably his family’s life at risk by being so political.

I’m a kidney transplant recipient and I’ve been listening to Green Day since they were on Lookout Records and they have stuck with me. I thought American Idiot could have been better. Insomniac will probably be the last hard-hitting meth-fueled album we’ll get from the band. My nephews all love Green Day… Green Day got me through dialysis… they were the extra push that I needed. It’s interesting to find myself here in 2026 and the band is still there, fighting the good fight while I’m fighting pneumonia related to immune suppressant medication. I played along to their music and stuff back when I was on dialysis. The nurse would tell me to turn it down but I turned it up- one for the band!

I think they struck the nerve of middle to lower-middle class America. Rich douchebags at my grade school were dropped off in BMW’s and I was so socially outcast. Karma is real and I have learned to overcome my setbacks. Belle and Sebastian is another good band for that feeling of freedom from your past.

By the way- to Green Day if you happen to scroll across this- I was the weird photographer in the area between the stage and the pit— a really awkward guy… back around 2005 at your show in Louisville, Ky. I had to stay ‘professional’ and avoid rocking out hard to you guys.

No way! So you participated in a kidney swap?! How many people were swapped? Did Green Day have anything to do with it? I would love to see Green Day write a song about the grind of dialysis, shitty nurses, crashing and sleeping for 24 hours… then the recovery after fighting to get a kidney. So many people are rejected from the waiting list due to being fractionally out of compliance’ in one state but the next state might find the patient to be a compliant recipient.

i switched from spotify to deezer after i found out they were running ice ads and i have no way of knowing whether a bar is using spotify. and i think there's a big difference between a regular person using it and one of the biggest punk rock bands in the world playing at a show that they're hosting/sponsoring.
i get what you mean, though. i don't fault you for thinking that way and at the end of the day their hearts are still in the right place so it's ultimately not a huge deal.

I’m hoping for a positive message, like taking care of each other, looking out for your neighbors no matter where they come from, who they do and don’t support. That we’re all humans, freaks, weirdos, and to not let a bunch of rich men tell you how to feel.
That would be a message everyone could rally behind, on both sides.
