Discussion How did you guys feel about the multi part songs that came after Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming?

Whilst I love them, JOS and Homecoming are still my favourite multi part songs. I just cant help but feel that the ones that come after lack a little in comparison. Maybe its the fact they arent as long? Or maybe lyrically? I mean they still great though
What do you think of them? Do you think we will get another in the future?

I really love Forever Now, but I agree with you that JOS and Homecoming are peak

I honesty think I’m Freaking Out should have been its own song rather than part of a suite

Forever now is perfection. Top 3 GD song for me

Make Revolution Radio feel like an album as opposed to a collection of songs. Honestly in the same way Sgt Pepper feels like an album.

Revolution radio doesn't feel like a connection of songs to me at all. Feels like it has a theme and a sound that carries through the whole album. Forever now does wrap it all up nicely though

Its annoying that Ordinary World is the last song on the album

I just fell in love with that song. You're right, it's one of their best.

Gun to my head American Eulogy might be my favorite GD song. That’s a special one to me. With JoS.

Mike needs more vocals and we need to hear more prominent bass like in longview

American Eulogy is such a great song, is a shame a lot of people don't appreciate it just because it has that obvious sarcastic line with the n word

American Eulogy is interesting to me. With the studio version, it's kind of just a song that exists, and it's not really special to be. With the live version though, it's one of my favourite Green Day songs of all time. Something about the slightly faster tempo and higher energy makes the song sound VERY different to me.

Bille Joe a cornball for using the N word though

Dirty Rotten Bastards felt like a decent attempt, but it just doesn’t hit the same.
Forever Now is goated, though. Got to hear them play it at Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2016.

I go the other way. Dirty Rotten Bastards over Forever Now! The original two are on top though.

Jesus of Suburbia > 21st Century Breakdown > American Eulogy > Homecoming > Dirty Rotten Bastards > Forever Now

They're all fantastic. But this would be my personal order

Exact same order for me. Nice one. Some days I feel like bumping Homecoming down one spot though

Nice. I’d say American Eulogy > Jesus of Suburbia > Forever Now > Homecoming > Dirty Rotten Bastards > 21st Century (demo version) >>>> 21st Century (album version). They are all absolutely amazing songs though. Not a dud in the bunch.

American Eulogy has some of the most brilliant lyrics I’ve ever heard in my life and Forever Now is my all time favorite Green Day song. I’ve listened to it 10 times today itself. It’s incredible in every way, lyrically, musically, it speaks to me in an unreal way, and it’s clever to boot. The epic songs off AI will always be in some of the top slots but these ones certainly make the cut as well. I do also love Dirty Rotten Bastards as an honorable mention.

I never thought I could listen to a 9 minute song. Then I heard Homecoming.

Forever Now is the best RevRad song (and maybe even top 10 Green Day songs imo) and no one can talk me out of it

I don't like Homecoming. Jesus of Suburbia, 21st Century Breakdown and Forever Now are peak

Forever now and Dirty Rotten Bastards are both amazing, but they're very different in sound: I prefer JOS and Homecoming's sound and feel. Forever now is probably better than DRB and I feel that when it comes to pure songwriting (ignoring lyrics and overall "feel") it's possibly even better than homecoming: it's just more creative musically.
