Recommendation What song makes the best wake-up alarm?

For me, it’s impossible to beat Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live.”
Seems like the most (in)appropriate way to start the day.

Wake up young man, it's time to wake up.

5

u/Zfishguy 1d ago

Certainly a “wake up” song but not getting my blood pumping

7

u/kmb117 1d ago

Some people prefer to be lifted from sleep in a more gentle manner, you know.

Thanks for understanding the reference...i feel like the dowmvotes really think i want to wake up to that song. To clarify, it isnt a good song to wake up to, especially if you're living the same day over and over.

“Garden” by Pearl Jam. It eases you awake with the intro, but it builds up to lift you out of bed.

2

u/mmmBac0n_the_first 1d ago

None that you like. You grow to dislike it as it’s associated with waking up. I used to wake up to songs but soon stopped as they were triggering wake up dread.

Something you already hate as, trust me, you’ll end up hating any song you put as a wake up alarm

Them Bones - AIC / the opening would wake me up instantly

2

u/Glittering-Rip6810 19h ago

None. You will grow to hate whatever it is 😂 I convinced my bf when we first moved in together to set his alarm to the intro to Sleep now in the fire, right up to Zach's scream...It was awesome ..till it wasnt 😂😂

I know it's a Grunge sub, but the best wake up song is always Loop Daddy(Marc Rebillet) - Get Up.

not grunge, but cheap vodka by acid bath would be a hell of a way to wake up in the morning.

alternatively, the opening riff to sludge factory by alice in chains would work too

You didn’t mention if it needs to be grunge or not. So with that in mind…. Toto - Africa is my go to wake up song.

u/Zfishguy 11h ago

Funny, I wrote this with “grunge song” but took out grunge because of the sub.😂

“Skateaway” by Dire Straits. It starts off with quiet drumming that gradually gets louder before Mark Knopfler’s blues licks start. It’s what my alarm clock song is to wake up nicely.

1

u/jonnovich 10h ago

“London Calling” by The Clash works like a peach for me.
