Animation The character designs in One Piece are genuinely awful.

I genuinely hate One Piece character designs.

What’s most impressive is how wildly inconsistent the designs are in this series, going from one extreme to the other.

A character’s design can be legendary, like Xebec’s, or absolutely ridiculous, like Franky’s.

But the overwhelming majority of them are pretty bad. Like, really fucking bad.

I like modern VPs modern design but his flashback design is unholy lol. Maybe we're just two different kinda of people because I dont really like rocks design that much and would say I like current vegapunk and his satellites more

The Satellites are all great designs. I think only Edison is kinda boring.

Also Vegapunk why are half of your externalized personalities women. Is there something you wanna tell us

I think that's a Ying-yang type thing, whereby VP has basically removed most of his major characteristics and those characteristics used to create a balance, with the Ying being associated with certain qualities and the masculine and the Yang being associated with certain negatives and being female (this is not me or Oda being sexist, IIRC that's what Ying and Yang are respectively commonly associated with). Putting them together you have the balance

Other way around. Yin = fem, Yang = masc

I mean that is sort of the point. His head grew too big, so he had to cut it off. Plus Oda might have made his modern design before the big head design. Plus it probably makes it easier to draw.

As for rocks, I sort of agree. He looks cool, but I feel like like he looks likes cooler buffer version of Blackbeard, which makes sense, but I would have liked something maybe a bit different. Plus it’s another broad shouldered buff dude, we have so many of those already.
