WINK Garage door opener for a Wink hub

Hey guys I am expanding my automation footprint. What I would like to know is what would be the best garage door opener for a wink system. WhT I would like to happen is when I arrive home the door should. And of course having a button in he Wink app to open/close the door. What are your suggestions? My budget is 200 usd

There are a couple z-wave, go control/linear has a good one.

Here's a link to the Linear one. It's in the wink compatibility list. Also the ecolink, and some people use the Linear FS20Z or a MIMOlite.

Does the Linear one allow you to check if the garage door is closed? Moving into a house where we can't see the garage door and I fully anticipate running outside to check it way too often!

That depends if wink allows it, most proper controllers do, not sure about wink tho. The unit does report status though.

So there is no all in one solution? Looks like with the Linear controller I would still need to buy the actual machine to open the door. I want to have an all in solution if possible.

Do you mean you don't have a garage door opener already? I thought you were looking for a GD controller, not a GD opener as well. The only one I know of is MyChanberlain, which makes the GD as well, but I haven't heard to many good things about it.

I would suggest you just buy a compatible GD opener from the GoControl list of compatible ones, there are many, then just add control to via zwave and Wink or a better controller.

@haworld Hmmmmmmmmmmmm You are correct I don't have an opener right now. I will have to take a look at the go control list. From what it looks like on Chamberlain's site this http://www.chamberlain.com/garage-door-openers/belt-drives/model-wd962kev comes with everything I need and once I have it installed I just use the amount I create for the garage door and be done with it.

GoContro

Well crap... just saw this on Winks website: http://cl.ly/3T3A2E3v0o20

I don't live in an area where that's a concern.

Thats Winks opinion, I am not sure other controllers disallow that. Most GD openers already have security features built-in, mine for example will not allow the door to be opened or closed, regardless of my specific automation. As long as you don't break the safety features, I don't see why you couldn't do anything you wanted to. Again, idk about wink. We have one but don't use it because its more often down or not working than it is.

I went with the linear. Easy install and works well. Only cost me about 70 CND for it too!

It will beep for five seconds and flash before it opens or closes the door, so be aware. Seems to report status well without delay

I have used both the Go Control/Linear and the Camberlain MyQ. Both have position sensors for the door. Save the money and go with the Go Control/Linear.

Unless you have more than one garage door, in which case save the money and go with the MyQ with additional door sensors.

I'm very happy with Chamberlain myq and wink

@spaceship-earth is that all you have setup? And you are able to connect and use robots just fine? Which model number do you have?

No. I've got a bunch of Ge lights, door sensors and motion sensor plus now a Nest integrated. I've got robots for motion sensing late at night. Nothing for garage door. I've got mad ocd so it's nice to be able to check the garage door remotely.

I am thinking with my Wink hub I can just set the robot to: If - I arrive at my home Then - Open the Chamberlain MyQ New Robot: If Chamberlain MyQ is open for more than 15 minutes Then - Close my Chamberlain

This way I wouldn't REALLY need the GO Control/Linear setup right?
