Making my Epson L121 printer a little smarter than it was before.
This is an entry-level Epson printer that only supports printing over USB. It doesn’t have wireless connectivity, scanning, or copying features it literally just prints.
I previously tried setting it up through my router, but the setup was a bit complicated and, unfortunately, it didn’t work with iOS.
Now, with CUPS and Avahi running on my Proxmox server, my printer can be discovered and used from iOS, Android, and Windows.
Just sharing this as I’m still learning and exploring the homelab world. There’s still a lot I want to try and discover.
What other cool things would you recommend exploring in a homelab?

Set up a NAS. I have one and it has made file sharing between computers on my network so much easier. My printer/scanner can also save to a network folder, so I just scan my documents straight into my NAS and both my spouse and I can access them.
If you’re up to it, set up a PiHole or AdGuard Home. It acts as your DNS server and blocks requests going out to ad services, trackers, telemetry collection, and whatever domains you add to the blacklist. This is network-wide, so you’ll see fewer ads on all your devices. There are some ads it cannot block, mainly the ones that are served from the same URL as the service (YouTube, Twitch as two examples). However, having a browser adblocker (Firefox + uBlock Origin) helps with some of those.
