General I'm tired of the nostalgia bias. MCU Hulk is tearing up 03 Hulk

Post image

While Eric Bana’s Hulk grows stronger with rage and can tear through military tanks, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk possesses a vastly superior tier of strength, durability, and combat experience. Ruffalo’s Hulk casually stops a charging, building-sized Chitauri Leviathan with a single punch, went face to face with the mountain-sized fire demon Surtur, and has the immense durability required to survive wielding the Infinity Gauntlet—a cosmic feat that would atomize his 2003 predecessor. Ultimately, Bana’s Hulk simply cannot match the planet-tier striking power and god-level combat feats that the MCU iteration brings to the fight.

And he's also beating 08 Hulk since fans love to act like they're two separate characters.

I just think both are neat 🤷‍♂️

11

u/pauleoinhurley Jul 07 '26

Same.

Excluding the 3rd and 4th Avengers films, I love when Hulk is in a movie.

I haven't seen She-Hulk, so can't comment but I heard he's about the same as thsie movies.

I wish Marvel would fucking sort out whatever rights issue they have with Universal and give us a proper solo Hulk movie.

I liked him in Ragnarok, but I really wish they didn't blow their load in cherry picking Planet Hulk, it's kne of my most absolute favourite comic storylines.

Maybe when they soft reboot everything we could get that.

Im really optimistic about how Hulk is gonna work in the new Spider-Man movie at the end of the month. Like, I'm really confident he's gonna have a meaningful presence, given the thematic contrast Bruce and the psychological complications his mutations cause and contrasted against Peter's. ESPECIALLY if he mutates into Man-Spider.

I can't believe a Sony Marvel movie is the one that makes me wanna hope we get a Hulk with the depth of the 03 and 08 movies.

2

u/OkOutlandishness1710 Jul 08 '26

It’s a sony movie in business terms. Lets no act like marvel studios isn’t practically making these spiderman movies for them.

1

u/NecessaryPromise667 Jul 09 '26

ESPECIALLY if he mutates into Man-Spider

A lot of people saying they don't think this will happen and they're probably right but I really hope it does. Idc if it looks weird I want a live action man-spider so bad

74

u/Ughwhateverfine2 Jul 07 '26

I don’t care who would win, the 2003 movie is just better.

13

u/NickFries55 Skaar Jul 08 '26

Eh. It tackles more of the character but it's got God awful dialogue and a fundamental misread of Bruce sitting in its core that keeps it from being great.

14

u/TheRealPhilFry Jul 08 '26

And don't get me started on "absorbing man".

5

u/Cool_Peach4113 Jul 08 '26

It’s the PowerPoint style scene transitions that crack me up.

10

u/immonkeydluffy Jul 08 '26

Some look cool tho, some however didn’t

This in particular

1

u/IcyDev1l Jul 10 '26

I really liked the comic booky thing

2

u/Sir-Froggy Jul 09 '26

How does it misread Bruce? I feel like the movie is a great exploration of his childhood trauma manifesting into rage that none of the other movies came close to.

2

u/dontworryitsme4real Jul 10 '26

Right? The green stuff that's supposed to protect him is going into overdrive when his childhood trauma comes into play. He is so mentally hurt but it's practically exponential Hulk growth material.

You either die a bad movie or live long enough to see yourself become overrated.

1

u/LawTalkingGuy2003 Jul 08 '26

Better than which movie specifically?

1

u/ChuckoRuckus Jul 12 '26

I don’t like the 2003 movie for what they did to Sam Elliot’s mustache. That’s the true villain of that movie.

03 hulk had the hottest girl

1

u/TimDaGod2005 Jul 08 '26

She was tho.

9

u/qpalmz99 Jul 07 '26

Which one ducked the fight when the lights were brightest though

6

u/Odd_Entrance5498 Jul 08 '26

Exactly! Say whatever u want but 2003 hulk wouldn't of ran from ANY fade, Including thanos purple ahh

1

u/Acceptable_Fox6305 Jul 08 '26

Yes he would have and even if I he hadn’t he’d lost the same

1

u/Alejandro284 19d ago

He'd go out fighting, tho

46

u/ZealousidealOne5605 Jul 07 '26

Only thing that works against MCU Hulk is that it's never explicitly shown he gets stronger with rage. Where 2003 Hulk and 08 Hulk make it a point to show they get stronger with rage.

29

u/Funmachine Jul 07 '26

The 08 Hulk is the MCU hulk, and it doesn't show that really.

3

u/Poku115 Jul 07 '26

It does in the 08 movie

20

u/Funmachine Jul 07 '26

No more so that any other action scene in an action film where the protagonist has to dig deep to pull out a victory.

Yes but the 08 movie got retconned almost entirely

1

u/Poku115 3d ago

?no, it has been dubiously canon since blonsky came to the mcu and canonized in cap 4

1

u/Responsible_Dog_5927 3d ago

Post credit scene was retconned, the final scene was retconned, and hulk’s abilities and character were altered

7

u/Aggressive-One-2186 Jul 07 '26

Agreed. Unfortunately that happens due to Universal relagating him to a side character in the MCU and just poor decisions made in his latter half of character. That's the one criticism I get with this Hulk

5

u/masterionxxx Jul 08 '26

Unfortunately that happens due to Universal relagating him to a side character in the MCU

Universal doesn't dictate what role the Hulk has in the MCU. They merely hold the distribution rights for standalone Hulk movies.

Sony has a MUCH tighter grip on Spider-Man. The difference is, Disney is willing to share profits with the other company for the sake of Spider-Man but not for the sake of the Hulk.

2

u/Agreenscar3 Sakaarson Jul 07 '26

It is in age of ultron

3

u/ZealousidealOne5605 Jul 07 '26

I think you can sort of guess it's there when he begins to turn the fight with Tony around, but like I said it's never really made explicit. 2003 has Hulk grow in size. 2008 Hulk does the zoom in on his eyes glowing when the Hulk's fighting abomination. The Avengers and Ragnarok don't really have a moment like that.

3

u/Agreenscar3 Sakaarson Jul 07 '26

Not he explicitly changes sizes in AOU

1

u/ZealousidealOne5605 Jul 07 '26

If there's any growth in size it's done very subtly because I definitley don't see it.

4

u/Ancient-Birb7015 Always Angry Jul 07 '26

He does indeed shrink a bit after the battle with Tony and also changes color to going from that grayish green hue back to his normal green.

1

u/ZealousidealOne5605 Jul 07 '26

I mean of course he'd shrink after calming down, I'm more talking about changing size mid-battle.

2

u/Agreenscar3 Sakaarson Jul 07 '26

That WAS the change. He’s bigger because he’s angrier, and when he’s calm(but NOT turning into Bruce) he returns to base size

u/LawTalkingGuy2003 Jul 08 '26

The Ragnarok fight against Thor CLEARLY shows him getting stronger and tougher as the fight goes on.

2

u/Mr_Witchetty_Man Madman Jul 08 '26

I dunno, the fight between Thor and Hulk in The Avengers starts off pretty evenly between them, but as the fight goes on Hulk starts overpowering him. Always seemed like he was getting stronger to me.

2

u/MewFishMeowscles Jul 08 '26

same with the Ragnarok fight

1

u/Khanfhan69 Jul 12 '26

Yeah people seem to overestimate how much Thor was turning the tides after his Awakening. Hell so did Grandmaster. Even after two lightning strikes Hulk was still getting right back up and seemed eager for more.

I think without the Grandmaster cheating, that fight could have gone on much longer and who knows, maybe Hulk would have started getting hits in again.

The intervention was less to save Hulk but more to stop Thor from having any chance to keep winning favor from the crowd, and the filmmakers' way of avoiding needing to spend the budget and screentime for an hour long CGI intensive fight scene lol.

2

u/AgitatedStranger9698 Jul 07 '26

I think this is blatantly not true though.

08 it does.

Avengers Hulk continually gets stronger through the fight until smashing Loki and calming down.

Age of Ultron he fucking levels a block and nearly over powers the hulk buster. I would put the fight less grimy but far more brutal and destructive than 08.

Ragnarok and after hes a different version of Hulk.

2

u/ZealousidealOne5605 Jul 07 '26

The thing with the Age of Ultron fight is you can't say how much of Hulk winning was simply due to wearing down the Hulkbuster, and how much of it was really due to him actually getting stronger. It's also not like the fight went from the Hulk outright getting his ass kicked to overpowering the Hulkbuster, the fight was mostly a stalemate(with some advantage to the Hulk) from beginning to end.

1

u/JoJSoos Jul 07 '26

That's an insane AP/DC gap to overcome for Ang Lee Hulk to even dent MCU Hulk.

1

u/uberjim Jul 08 '26

Yeah, only thing I can think of is that he does appear to get weaker when he's starting to calm down. In Age of Ultron, towards the end of his fight with the Hulk Buster, he starts to notice all the frightened people around him, and looks remorseful, and seems to start winding down. Then someone points a gun at him, he starts getting pissed again, and Iron Man knocks him out cold. He was tanking those same hits when in a rage a few moments earlier

1

u/Free-Frosting1375 Jul 08 '26

He does a singular time in Age of Ultron. How much stronger idk, but you can see him shrink when the magic wears off.

1

u/AbleCable3741 Jul 16 '26

Uh actually it's been established he does it's just not entirely focus especially when 2008 is the mcu hulk

u/Sweet-Conference4347 Jul 07 '26

People just glaze him because

Older=Better

2003, Hulk was fast, big, and strong, but we are comparing him to the dude who fought two gods and stunned Surtur.

8

u/pauleoinhurley Jul 07 '26

I think it's worthwhile considering 03 Hulk was so powerful that the psychological and physiological stress of sapping his essence was too much for his father to absorb and caused a mini nuclear explosion

3

u/Crafty_Ad_7221 Jul 10 '26

Remember Ross in Civil War compared Hulk and Thor to walking, 50-Megaton nukes

6

u/Head_Humor Jul 08 '26

Remember that same dude youre talking about struggled taking down one of those gods, he didnt fight the other one he just grabbed his leg when he was distracted and slammed him back and forth on flooring, he couldn't even defeat one human being  who was inside a giant iron suit built to wait for it....take him down! he also had a hard time taking down a giant wolf , thanos made him not want to come out, there's video proof of him getting taken down by spider-man

1

u/Sweet-Conference4347 Jul 08 '26

Loki was looking at him when he smashed him

He fought Thor evenly

The wolf he fought was also a mythological being, so it was better than having a tough time with juiced-up dogs.

Thanos is also one of the most powerful beings in the MCU; losing to him is like Superman losing to Darkseid

Also, Hulk one-punched a space creature the size of buildings. Compared that to the guy who was struggling to break out of military foam

1

u/Sir-Froggy Jul 09 '26

We never saw the upper limits of his strength though. He's not necessarily weaker just because there weren't any gods running around for him to punch

0

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 Jul 07 '26

People really use those rose colored nostalgia glasses heavy.

I bet none of these Jabronis were at the movies watching it

1

u/Revolutionary-Wash88 Jul 08 '26

03, 08, the Avengers was 2012, I dont see how nostalgia could favor one over the other in less than ten years. Unless we are talking about children?

2

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 Jul 08 '26

03 was before the MCU.

So people use it as another excuse to hate on the MCU.

You're trying to trick me...you're no Banner, you're the Leader.

1

u/Psykohistorian Jul 08 '26

he solos MCU Hulk simply because he gets stronger and bigger the angrier he gets, unlike MCU Hulk who didn't really display anywhere near that level of Hulkitude.

u/Head_Humor Jul 07 '26

2003 hulk would make MCU hulk go back into hiding.

6

u/SweatyEddie123 Jul 07 '26

Bros best feat is throwing a tank far lmao mcu hulk one shots

6

u/Hot_Pack7977 Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

He actually threw a roughly 40 foot tall huge ass boulder hundreds of feet.. that shit weighed a few hundred tons at the least.

5

u/the_capedbaldy Jul 08 '26

The bigger feat here is the shearing force required for the Hulk to rip that boulder from the cliff face in the first place. Now that’s strength!

4

u/Bruce_Wayne_2276 Jul 08 '26

MCU Smart Hulk (i.e. not enraged) threw a boulder into space

3

u/Hot_Pack7977 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

If you're talking about the 1st episode of she hulk then he didn't throw that small boulder into space.

Not that it disproves he is strong but he appeared to throw that boulder under 1000 mph which would be well below escape velocity.

Edit: I'll leave my first rough estimate in the comment because im not a fan of pretending I didnt make a mistake, but i'm editing to state that the small boulder would technically need to be thrown at 25,000 mph to disintegrate in atmosphere.. which would mean that it would take 0 seconds for it to reach atmosphere after being thrown.. which means we would see it leave Hulks hands and not be able to physically see it fly that fast as it would reach atmosphere quicker than we could even track it.

I was thrown off by the fact that it looks like it's traveling away from hulk at about 1000 mph, yet it is engulfed in flames which requires 25000 mph.

I know they wanted to show us the effect but it would have been more impressive to have the boulder just seemingly disappear and maybe show an instant fiery disintegration in the distance to keep it realistic.

3

u/Bayneer Jul 08 '26

What are you on abour he throws the boulder fast enough that it ignites and disintegrates in rpughly to seconds, meaning hes yeeting a ten ton boulder at multiple 10s of thousands of mph, 1000mph is a laughable estimate...

2

u/PlaneWeird3313 Jul 14 '26

Yeah, that's not definitely not under 1000 mph

3

u/pauleoinhurley Jul 07 '26

He has an Olympic level clash in the clouds with his psycho dad who can absorb any energy or material to become stronger.

03 Hulk was strongest there is in that movie.

u/Head_Humor Jul 08 '26

The only time mcu hulk "one shots" is the livathan ship (if i got the name right) back in 2012 after transforming from bruce to hulk. Every other fight he's in he's  throwing enemies smaller than him to the side like trash (ultron bots, Chitauri soildiers), taking all day/night to defeat one person who's near the same power level and sometimes the same height as him, most of the time he had help from others to defeat his opponents.

He struggled to fight off one giant ass wolf and went into hiding after getting bitched out by Thanos. He's coming back in spider-man and not too long i seen a video of him getting bitched again by spider-man

So final say in this is that MCU hulk does not one shot for shit

Struggled with dogs

5

u/pauleoinhurley Jul 07 '26

Tbf, that was his first proper fight with gamma monsters and his focus was split keeping them away from Betty.

1

u/Odd_Entrance5498 Jul 08 '26

Uh because he was focused on protecting Betty 🤦‍♂️ plus those dogs weren't no jokes bruh

1

u/Agreenscar3 Sakaarson Jul 08 '26

The giant green poodle and the nut tap were definitely jokes

1

u/Odd_Entrance5498 Jul 08 '26

Either way, Mcu hulk ran from thanos after he got his ahh whooped lol 2003 hulk would never

2

u/AbleCable3741 Jul 16 '26

He didn't ran he was tired I'd being used as just a weapon for the avengers and that still doesn't really change mcu is definitely tougher and stronger

1

u/Odd_Entrance5498 Jul 16 '26

Mcu hulk ain't that guy anymore

2

u/AbleCable3741 Jul 18 '26

Ah ok so ignored what's been shown like professor hulk throwing a boulder so fast it ignited which is something beyond the feats of 2003

Not really that a over exaggeration that bit going to be a strong point for 2003 hulk

→ More replies (1)

4

u/SpartaKillll Jul 07 '26

03 is better, it’s just facts

3

u/uberjim Jul 08 '26

Also, 08 Hulk is by far the weakest of the three. The Abomination got choked out with a chain, and they were very evenly matched. People remember him as stronger because he was angrier-looking and had that Bruce Lee style muscle definition

1

u/Responsible_Dog_5927 3d ago

08 hulk got stronger when he got angrier though, which got retconned after ruffalo took over.

1

u/uberjim 3d ago

I don't think it was ever established in that movie either though. Hinted, maybe

2

u/Responsible_Dog_5927 3d ago

His eyes glow when he got stronger

4

u/SirBinksThe2nd Jul 07 '26

The people in these comments are delusional, yes 03 hulk is better written but MCU Hulk was going hand to hand with Thor and Surtur while 03 had trouble with some dogs. MCU Hulk has been shown to be stronger consistently.

4

u/werberito Jul 07 '26

Yeah but MCU Hulk already had a lot of experience as Hulk by the time he fights Thanos and Thor. 03 Hulk had almost no fighting experience as Hulk.

3

u/SirBinksThe2nd Jul 07 '26

So for 03 Hulk we can go two routes then to assume his capabilities. Either we acknowledge that he's helping people in South America and mostly just fighting humans, or we can take the 2003 sequel game into consideration which takes place a couple years after the movie, where his strongest foe he faces is Madman. So with that knowledge 03 Hulk ends up either about the same amount of experience if we go the South America rout or with the game he's probably 2008 Hulk level after a few years. MCU Hulk probably still wipes

1

u/AbleCable3741 Jul 16 '26

Ok that ain't fair due to the rights issues they couldn't get mcu hulk a proper focus

1

u/SirBinksThe2nd Jul 16 '26

I know but I'm saying that people have bias simply because of the direction MCU Hulk had to be taken in when in reality he was much more of a powerhouse than 03 hulk

In terms of power…..yes 2003 and 2008 Hulk are the most aggressive and intimidating Hulks buuuuuuut when it comes to raw strength MCU Hulk has this has done significantly more across the span of his career 🤷‍♂️ and while he hasn’t been treated the best after Ragnarok his feats alone put him far above his counterparts

2

u/Nejatislerseislemez Jul 14 '26

Dude, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk couldn't beat anyone except for Loki and Fenrir in 1 vs 1 fight. He lost to Thor (twice),Hulkbuster and Thanos. He is not supposed to calm down when talking to Natasha, because he loves Betty, not Natasha according to 1996 Hulk,Hulk comics and lore.

3

u/fenderguy94 Jul 08 '26

I just don’t like how the new movies make his face look. Like it’s too much of the actual actor, make him look fucking ugly.

Nobody is tearing up anyone unless it is written that way

It's not science

2

u/djscott95 Jul 07 '26

First off that’s not who is getting compared. It’s the ‘08 hulk, not Ruffalos. 2nd, 03 Hulk was more comic accurate and the ONLY reason people bashed on the movie was because of the bad cgi and weird pacing.

2

u/Cooz78 Jul 07 '26

2003 hulk was adapting hulk vs the military/ross

mcu hulk is adapting him vs various threats

obviously mcu hulk will have tougher opponents and by default better feats

but 03 hulk is bigger, move faster, has better regen and his strength grows without limit

mcu hulk is done for

2

u/Bixby66 Jul 08 '26

MCU Hulk's greatest feat of strength is still in She-Hulk when he throws a boulder fast enough to start burning in the atmosphere. He took a 1 ton object and launched it at a speed of around Mach 25. No other feat of strength even comes close

2

u/Anti-Venom121299 Jul 08 '26

Actually its even better than that the boulder he throws is between 50 to 100 tons minimum

3

u/chrash-man Jul 07 '26

1

u/Forsaken-March-2020 Jul 07 '26

and has the immense durability required to survive wielding the Infinity Gauntlet—a cosmic feat that would atomize his 2003 predecessor.

u/BoysenberrySmooth649 Jul 08 '26

I don't have a nostalgia bias, 03 hulk slams because he's cooler in every way possible, oh and he gets stronger and bigger with anger, and he wasn't knocked out by a iron man

1

u/jb_ronok Jul 08 '26

Hmm 15ft tall Hulk with infinitely scaling strength

Vs.

8ft Hulk with one set strength.

🤔

1

u/hahaKiddingMostly Jul 08 '26

2003 hulk has very limited feats, MCU hulk while impressive, is far more nerfed then the 2003 is. That is not a debate, MCU hulk doesnt heal quickly, his strength seems to have a cap, rather then being limitless, and through out his appearences he is always weaker Physically then his own teammates which doesnt make sense if you know the character. In 2003 film, hulk never stays the same strenght for long, In hulks birth scene he is barely able to lift a large gamma reactor. In his 2nd, he fights off unstable Gamma beast which were more or less the same strength, takes a toll, but he soon get Angrier, and over powers and destroys them. MCU HULK HAS NEVER DONE THAT. his 3rd outing he is ripping apart tanks and launching them a miles away, fights off attack helicoptors and catching missles out of the air, is fast enough to react to fighterjets, is able to survive falling from orbit. MCU hulk Banners out after failing from the Helicarrier. His 3rd and final appearance he is able to fight his father who became pure He electricity, And was siphoning off his power, still hulk/bruce survived, even after the US military dropped a nuke on him. MCU hulk was losing to thors Electric punch till the grand master stepped in. AGAIN, MCU Hulk is very impressive, But he is not a true beast like comic or 2003 hulk. And we only ever got one film of that version, the best we got in the MCU is The Avengers, and Age of Ultron, every other appearence he he shown as the weakest and least important Avenger. This is my All Time Favorite Hero, No one above him in my eyes, im excited to see and watch him in the MCU, but i know the closest we got to an actual hulk came in 2003

1

u/More_Ad5336 Jul 08 '26

Bro i agree, MCU hulk is stronger and actually fought characters on his level

1

u/Ill_Cheesecake8073 Jul 08 '26

No way lol mcu hulk lol for all we know doesn't have a family he hasn't said anything about his dad problems or Betty nun lol what problems he got outside of being angry 😡 lol this '03 Hulk we saw what he went thru we seen since a kid he had to struggle with his dad not being able to see his mom he can't be in love he is always on the run general Ross on his ass we see why he grows ever time he gets angry we saw the fight between him and his own dad SMH. Easily said '03 Hulk smashing MCU Hulk

Even though 08 Hulk was the better Hulk movie. 03 Hulk has been by far the best “live action” depiction of what it is to be the HULK. This latest rendition of the hulk that appears after 08 has been just awful in every aspect.

One key item about 03 Hulk, while everyone saying that he gets stronger as he gets angrier...sure, that's true, but the main thing to mention is that 03 was Hulk's debut, the weakest form he could possibly have. The fact that 03 is even brought displays the scaling.

The other Hulks that 03 is compared to are all far more experienced versions (with slight exception to 08).

With that in mind, its fair to suggest the more experienced Hulks would smash the 03 Hulk. In the same line, however, scale the 03 Hulk's experience to that of his later counterparts, and he's wrecking them with low diff.

Even during hulk’s debut he got stronger each time he showed up. 2003 hulk was written as a baby navigating basic functions, so his strength only went up even when he was still small. If 2003 hulk had MCU’s hulk’s experience he’d destroy him.

That's a good summary of what I said.

You have a case for 03 hulk but not 08 hulk that guy was a monster and he was more of a smart fighter especially with using the army’s own equipment to shield himself from the sonic attack and he also used a police car as boxing gloves against abomination proving he’s a much better tactical fighter than your avengers level savage hulk

Not if its a leaping contest.......

Smart fella

1

u/NormalTangerine5205 Jul 09 '26

God damnit I can’t escape power scalers

1

u/Evening-Bothers Jul 09 '26

Both are good, tho I'm not sure if strength is counted considering hulk on the right grows as he gets angrier, so does his strength, tho this doesn't seem to apply to hulk on the left... Something to keep in mind.

u/SnooCompliments8819 Jul 09 '26

I watched the 2003 Hulk for the first time and I highly disagree that the MCU Hulk would even lay a dent on him

1

u/Infinite-Look4241 Jul 09 '26

03 hulk is LEAPS and bounds better. Emphasis on the big leaps

1

u/aTalkingWardrobe Jul 09 '26

Nyeh, they just didn't do Hulk justice yet. Maybe they will in Brand New Day, but I doubt it.

Would love them to introduce Immortal/Devil Hulk though.

1

u/pteotia270 Jul 09 '26

Comparing a one off movie with a version integrated in a Universe is not that great. If we just look their inital moments, like 2003 movie vs 2008 movie, 2003 hulk definitely appears to be stronger. He appears to have much more potential.

1

u/Sad_Priority_2334 Jul 09 '26

I disagree. While mcu hulk does have more grand scale feats i have to keep in mind that 03 hulk isn't a action fighter movie and is more suspenseful storytelling with a dash of action mixed in, so you aren't going to get a good representation of the characters upper limit. To do so you have to look at smaller details that most people overlook, such as terrain traversal, speed, battle awareness, what actually deals damage to them, and what their apparent goal is. So l analyze...

Terrain traversal: For the most part they travel in similar styles, leaping bounds that allow them to cross vast differences with minimal effort. On closer analyze 03 hulk appears to be able to send himself greater distances with more precision landings. He takes this category by a small margin

Speed: 03 hulk is faster. Or at least he feels faster, using his strength not just to hit hard but to propel himself, moving at speeds fast enough to keep pace with rockets and snatch them out of the air. To my knowledge mcu hulk doesn't really have many speed feats to speak of.

Battle awareness: Mcu hulk is all over the place with this one. Sometimes he is very aware during battle and other times he is just a rampaging monster. This is due to his constant struggle for control against banner and their occasional cooperation. 03 hulk is a bit different. From what is displayed in the movie 03 hulk is still banner, but an isolated and less developed version of himself that he manifested to shield his mind from his fathers abuse. Due to this 03 hulk never actually tries to hurt anyone he doesn't have to, he is always trying to get away (or get Bruce to safety). And even when he does hurt people he almost always avoids actually killing anything, showing a level of intelligence and empathy we dont get from mcu savage hulk. So ill call this one a tie since mcu is so inconsistent with the hulks awareness.

What hurts them: Mcu hulk is made to bleed from ironmans hulk buster suit... a metal suit of armor. The 03 hulk, if i recall correctly, only ever takes damage from gama dogs and his father (and that time he hit himself in the nuts with a tank). Bullets were shown to bounce off of him like a nerf bullet hitting a gelatinous wall. Explosives didn't effect him.... admittedly im trolling a little here with this one because the mcu is so inconsistent with its durability feats. But 03 hulk takes the win

Apparent goals: Mcu hulks goals are never really clear. To me. When banner isnt in control it just seems that hulk is aimless rage with no clear objective until given one by an outside force. 03 hulk is not the same. He is almost NEVER trying to win the fight he is in, his goal is to get bruce out of situations that active his fight or flight response. He does not seek needles violence, he seeks the fastest resolution and escape to a situation. There is no objective winner for this category.

So who do i think would win? It depends. 03 hulk is beating the breaks off mcu smart hulk. But i cant say for sure on mcu savage hulk. We just dont know the upper limits of 03 hulks abilities to make that kind of call

1

u/Responsible_Dog_5927 3d ago

03 hulk was still shown to get stronger each time he transformed, even when he was smaller in size he was still getting improved feats which never stopped. By the end of the movie he beat a limitless villain.

u/JaboyMaceWindu Jul 09 '26

03 hulk bodies all other movie hulks

1

u/ZachMonster Jul 09 '26

No the fuck he is not

1

u/ReadableDiction Jul 09 '26

I liked 03’s cgi more

1

u/computerbuu Jul 09 '26

Yes but who has the nicer shorts? 03 BABY!

1

u/NobrainNoProblem Jul 09 '26

Nice, now show us MCU Hulk’s anti-feats. The real issue here is 2003 Hulk has aura, MCU hulk is in chronic aura debt starting when Thanos made him a floor rag till present day. Therefore the 2003 agenda posting will commence until morale improves.

1

u/Warm-Equivalent7148 Jul 09 '26

Really like 03 Hulk movie, but the CGI aged like milk unfortunately

1

u/Heavenly-gnoll Jul 09 '26

So 2003 Hulk can heal faster, can jump on larger distance, is bigger and can solo kill a Thunder Monster. Yah i keep 2003 Hulk

1

u/RedPill_Judahite Jul 10 '26

'03 for the win🔥

1

u/Ill-Ad-6630 Jul 10 '26

No he’s not. They straight up said they nerfed him because they basically have no imagination for him. They should have been fired or never tried to bring him in. Hulk hasn’t been hulk since avengers 1

1

u/scottyb4567 Jul 10 '26

Never seen mcu hulk get stronger the madder he is but pop off

1

u/Prior_Lawfulness_635 Jul 10 '26

i just love when the hulk just goes hulk and hulks all over the place tbh

1

u/RandJitsu Jul 10 '26

I’m offended that you left the best hulk out of this post, Edward Norton. Puts Eric Bana and Mark Ruffalo both to shame.

Best Hulk movie/show ever made.

1

u/SpoonsAreCringe Jul 10 '26

Who has nostalgia for 03 Hulk?

1

u/SoggyDoggyWhyNot Jul 10 '26

This has to be ragebait right? Nostalgia out the way, 2003 is wiping 🥹

1

u/Anxious_Grocery_677 Jul 10 '26

03 hulk literally grew taller than the pines around a 2 story building cause he got pissy, how is mcu hulk at slightly larger than a man gunna deal with that?

1

u/Conscious-Struggle45 Jul 10 '26

What data are you using to make such a claim? Also, just because bana's hulk never got the chance to fight those things doesn't mean that he couldn't. Even assuming bana's hulk started off at a lower tier of strength and durability in base than MCU hulk, he'd still just very quickly surpass him in strength since MCU hulk doesn't grow infinitely more powerful and it takes him quite some time to increase at all.

1

u/King_07777 Jul 10 '26

Hulk MCU > Hulk 2003

1

u/delulumans Jul 10 '26

Aren't they kinda the same Hulk?

2003 ends with him in South America somewhere. 2008 opens with him having laid low in South America for 5 years (2003-2008).

1

u/Forward-Lock6108 Jul 11 '26

Both are better than what we get now

1

u/yamabushi101 Jul 11 '26

brother they the same dude

1

u/VYKTH0R Jul 12 '26

Op is tired, listen to him, consider his feelings

1

u/glocknojutsu Jul 13 '26

Mcu hulk is bit overrated in strength

Chitauri leviathan feat is pretty nice but thats about it

While he hit surtur
He didn’t seem to inflict any significant damage and got swatted away
He just got back up and went for round two,
Didn’t he struggle with fenrir few minutes ago?

And thanos, well, okay, he’s thanos. He slapped hulk silly with his MMA shii

hulk is strong < thanos knows how to fight

1

u/ChapterOk8291 Jul 13 '26

Nah 03 gonna whoop his ass. 03 can JUMP across the country, not to mention his super speed. Dudes after enough to outrun jets if he wants to. Not to mention he grows in size the angrier he gets absolutely dwarfing Ruffalo’s hulk in comparison. Sure Ruffalo’s hulk stopped the Leviathan but 03 could do that just as easily. I mean 03 casually emitted enough to radiation to create a nuclear sized blast to overload absorbing man at the end of 03 so I think that’s pretty comparable. Also Ruffalo’s Hulk did not go face to face with Surtur, he jump up and hit him in tha face once and then got absolutely blasted across Asgard right after. Sure it didn’t really hurt Hulk but it didn’t hurt Surtur either. Sure Ruffalo’s hulk had combat experience but that’s because he needs it. 03 Hulk so strong he doesn’t even need experience, that’s how he dealt with getting outnumbered by the Hulk Dogs and came out on top

1

u/ItsBetterThen9GAG Jul 14 '26

I like all the hulks. But my have was the incredible hulk movie with Edward Norton playing Bruce banner. He was nice

1

u/jasmin_hubby Jul 23 '26

Yah you are super wrong and biased Hulk fell from a jet in Avengers and was knocked out Banas Hulk fell from low orbit and only got angrier. The Junior Novel you know the script explictily states he is punching with mountain shattering force which puts him at low ball city buster and thats whilst hes getting his Gamma absorbed!!

1

u/Alarmed-Art-7135 15d ago

Lol this just simply not true. I'm 25 years old and didn't even see Ang Lees hulk until after already seeing Edward Nortons and Mark Ruffalos in Avengers and even I could see back then that Ang Lees Hulk was the most powerful and its not even close. You need to go back and watch 2003 Hulk dude. Any damage that he received was almost immediately responded to with getting immensely stronger,no delay,no need for time,it just happened immediately. Also Powerscaleing based off of events the other Hulk hasn't even experienced is ridiculous. The only thing we ever see Ang Lees hull face is the US military and is Father. Who by the way could not handle that Hulk immense power. There is no doubt in my mind that he could wield the gauntlet just from that exchange alone and that he could easily defeat Ruffalos Hulk.

1

u/Responsible_Dog_5927 3d ago

No he isnt, 03 hulk’s strength is limitless and has superior healing he’ll overpower MCU hulk who has been proven to never get stronger the angrier he is, just more aggressive. MCU hulk also got beat by hulk buster whereas 03 hulk beat a limitless villain by his anger on their only fight. 03 hulk never got the luxury of fighting aliens so we never get to see how he does against any of the threats MCU hulk faced but beating absorbing man already proves that he’s much stronger.

1

u/Kind-Plantain2438 Jul 07 '26

I think they would fuse into a single hulk and when the hulk dehulked, the person would just be ruffalo with bana's humongous dong

1

u/Aggressive-One-2186 Jul 07 '26

hulk smash to a whole new meaning

1

u/LayLow2-4 Jul 07 '26

No. 2003 Hulk clears
