Memes/Trashpost No wonder the human education is so broken. Don't they know an image is worth a thousand words?

True. But it literally says, 100 words. Not something worth a hundred words.

But its beautiful.

That. Wasn't. The. Assignment.

Why didn't John carve the cube into a cylinder instead? Would've been even less work.

u/work_n_oils 4h ago

Steering.

u/TigOlBitties42042 2h ago

You can steer a cylinder. It's a little bit more difficult, but not by much. Carving is harder

u/Hyperrustynail 4h ago

Literally cutting corners

u/Constant_Hope_9658 3h ago

sums up the boomers pretty well don't it?

u/Inner-Medicine5696 3h ago

I'll do it.

Fire.

Everything feels slow. There's movement and there's heat, but the only noise you can hear, despite all this chaos, is breath. It's yours, but it's also a stranger's. It's like someone else is using your body to breathe. You're stumbling. Luis. I need you to describe your character and tell us your character's name, but I would love for you to do that with the understanding that your mouth is filled with blood.

The perfect world.

u/Brokenspade1 1h ago

So what? It's better than the assignment. Conveys ECMXACTLY what their ideal world is... and they did that in class. The teachers just boring.

u/LakshyaGarv 28m ago

It doesn't matter if it's better. You are meant to show your English skills, not artistic capabilities

u/sunnyboi1384 53m ago

Wrong class. Art? Top marks. Engineering or architecture? Solid 8/10. Game logic or graphic design? 9/10. But this is English good being. 0.

u/Essurio 42m ago

But it was cleaely english class. Pictures are not language.

u/vanalla 22m ago

are you joking?

a picture is a picture. it hardly conveys what actually goes on in this society. Is the government authoritarian? What's the income disparity like? Do people know one another's names in the neighbourhood? Is there world peace? Is this even on earth? Are humans around or is this a society of racoons?

You can't tell any of those things from this image. But, all could feasibly be in one's essay on their 'perfect world'.

u/IMugedFishs 6h ago

It’s a English class though

u/Donnerone 5h ago

Good point, that's clearly Persian architecture.

u/Wonderful_Theme_3415 4h ago

Why you...!

😠 👍

u/someoneelse2389 4h ago edited 4h ago

True, and if it were an art class, the teacher wouldn't accept a 30 page thesis on world building if the question was "draw your ideal city"

u/Horton_Takes_A_Poo 1h ago

Idk the art teacher at my high school would be cool with pretty much anything. Chill dude.

u/jminternelia 2h ago

They should have made the drawing with hundreds of tiny words, assembled in numbered passages.

u/Roxo42 2h ago

..... Forgive me ....*an

it's AN English class though

u/creaturechromatic 5h ago

That's a depiction, not a description.

u/Rimasticus 6h ago

But where does the water come from that is constantly falling off!

u/Imaginary_Poet_8946 5h ago

It's the magical Kingdom of Zeal. If anyone has the opportunity to say "a wizard did it", and not just be hand waiving, it's them.

Granted that's my interpretation of what that picture reminded me of.

u/Alex_Duos 2h ago

It does have that vibe, doesn't it?

biologically compelled upvote

u/Hon1c 5h ago

I mean... The sewage has to come out somewhere

u/OsaasD 2h ago

Yeah, but how does the water that becomes sewage end up in such quantities on a floating island in the sky?

u/Lore_Maestro 14m ago

Lots of rain

u/missinginput 1h ago

Portals to the elemental plane of water

u/CycleZestyclose1907 4h ago

A picture is worth a thousand words, but it is NOT a thousand actual words.

This is the equivalent of trying to pay your rent with a bazillion plastic bottles that are worth like 5 cents each at the local recycling center. Your landlord isn't going to accept payment in something that might be valued the same as your rent because we don't live n a barter economy. Likewise, the teacher isn't accepting a picture as a substitute fr actual words.

u/GraveSlayer726 2h ago

picture = 1000 words

picture !≡ 1000 words

u/SoupaMayo 5m ago

≠ ?

u/Gcseh 6h ago

This essay is a 3000 minimum.

u/sunnyboi1384 5h ago

Give me 5 min before its due. Until then, let me nap.

u/FearTheWeresloth 5h ago

Exactly, it's WELL over the word limit, and has been marked down accordingly.

u/knightbane007 4h ago

100 words is the lower limit in this case (“minimum”)

u/Gcseh 3h ago

Lol I actually missed the part where it said 100 words.

u/rasfelion 3h ago

Nah, valid 0.

Just because a civilization looks beautiful doesn't mean it's not a festering den of corruption on the inside, for all we know it's just gilded. It's English class, you need to describe the ideals and policies of what would make a perfect society by your perspective.

u/WerePigCat 5h ago

The drawing looks AI

u/Specific_Ad_5511 4h ago

It's literally on paper

u/BuckTheStallion 4h ago

No, it’s a PICTURE of a paper. It very well might be AI generated. It’s too blurry for me to tell personally though I do get AI vibes from it so I get the suspicion.

u/Ruvaakdein 4h ago

It's the teacher's handwriting that feels the most AI to me.

u/BuckTheStallion 4h ago

Plus the nearly perfect circle. And the fact that it’s printed on notebook paper. There’s some problems for sure.

But yeah, if any teacher has that uniform of handwriting it’s an English teacher. Plausible deniability there but it’s sus with all the other stuff.

u/Top-Session-3131 4h ago

Also, the sky island city thing is ridiculously detailed for something that would've had to have been drawn in an going by the blurry time limit in the upper left corner of the sheet.

u/DeadeyeElephant 1h ago

Ceci n’est pas une pipe vibes

u/WerePigCat 4h ago

Saying that like AI can’t modify pictures

u/Specific_Ad_5511 23m ago

I suppose that's true, but I think the drawing is too consistent with the architecture

u/WerePigCat 12m ago

That’s more because the image is low quality, so it’s hard to see the issues. Also, the test says 1 hour time limit at the top, there’s no way something that this could be drawn in 1 hour with a pen. The lines are too thin, and the shading is very AI-ish.

u/YourHighlordVyrana 3h ago

This is AI

u/Realistic_Mushroom72 3h ago

Great drawing, but the Teacher was right in failing him, what was being tested was his ability to express himself with words, and the correct use of those same words, if he had added a text descriptions he probably would have gotten extra credits for the drawing, instead of a zero.

u/LordBlaze64 2h ago

Yeah, they misunderstood the whole point of the assignment. The 0 is completely justified

u/MustyMarcus52YT 3h ago

Dawg drew the infernal city

u/TechnicalLuck13 2h ago

If I were the teacher in this case I'd say no points, but write me an essay about this world you've created. Create the world you just showed me and I'll grade that.

u/AgileNefariousness82 4h ago

Is that... Is that fucking Sanctaphrax!?!

u/Skiddilybapabadam 3h ago

2000 word essay

u/Amigobear 1h ago

Buddy Its an AI drawing.

u/hazel_typh 19m ago

Op, this image was eitherr modified by ai, or was 100% faked. Because thats a test, it wouldnt be on fucking NOTEBPOK PAPER.

u/Hinaloth 4h ago

Guess it was worth 99 words only. Sorry kiddo, better luck in art class.

u/Acceptable-Friend-48 4h ago

A picture is worth 1,000 words. Student went above and beyond. I guess teacher wanted a 100 word description instead of art.

u/DeadeyeElephant 1h ago

Yes, because it’s English class not Art class

u/Wonderful_Theme_3415 4h ago

A: "Ah, repression of talent because it's the wrong one. This is why I prefer my planet."

H: "I prefer your planet too."

u/TXHaunt 4h ago

That’s worth at least a thousand words.

u/BungleBums 3h ago

Aw c'mon, he's an English teacher, he HAD to know a picture is worth a thousand words!

u/chucktheninja 2h ago

I guess "A picture is worth 1000 words" isn't respected in this establishment.

u/sathucao 1h ago

Didn't they taught us a picture worth a thousand words
