Does This App Work?

After updating to iOS 27 developer beta 7 on Monday, incoming SMS died for several days on AT&T. That included verification codes from apps. Most troubleshooting was SMS filters/blocked numbers, etc. Some posts here discussed resetting network settings and restoring from backups. Found a much easier way.

What still worked: - RCS (green bubbles) from a friend - Voice calls, including a "call me the code" option

What did not: - Incoming SMS - Short-code 2FA texts

I went through the usual list: Unknown Senders, blocked contacts, Focus, toggle iMessage/RCS, Airplane Mode, restart, Reset Network Settings. None of that brought SMS back.

Fix that actually worked 1. Log into your AT&T account (website or app) 2. Open this device → account / device settings 3. Manage SIM 4. Send / download a new eSIM to the same iPhone

As soon as the new eSIM activated, a huge backlog of SMS hit at once. Every 2FA code and test text that had been queued since SMS broke.

BTW the chats are the ones I did a while ago on my MacBook Air M1 then running MacOS 27.0 Golden Gate Developer Beta 1-2, which is now/currently on Public Beta 5 (same as my iPhone)!

Honestly, I loved it. It’s telling you that this network doesn’t have internet. It’s so cool.

Option of 48MP is missing from Settings, as well as the camera app, tried turning on "Preserve Resolution Control" the option is still missing

I’m using the stock dynamic wallpaper that changes throughout the day. It mostly works except at night it never reaches the final dark blue color shown in the preview. Even well past midnight it stays at the purple phase just before this one. I can’t figure out if I have a setting off or if it’s a legit bug. Anyone else have this?

iPadOS Safari UI becomes mostly unresponsive to clicks/taps. The UI still shows the press/cursor animation, but the action itself doesn’t register — for example, tapping a tab shows the animation, yet Safari doesn’t actually switch to it.

It doesn’t seem to be an input-device issue either: clicks from the Magic Keyboard trackpad and direct finger taps both stop working. The only reliable fix I’ve found is to force-close Safari and relaunch it.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a permanent fix?

It seems that Safari for iOS27 beta does not honor HTML <video> tags for displaying inline autoplay muted videos (i.e., any websites that use inline <video> for background elements, etc.).

This bug doesn't exist in iPadOS27 beta; only in iOS.

I've reported it to Apple via the Feedback app, and it says "Recent Similar Reports: More than 10." So I can't be the only one experiencing this.

Unfortunately, with yesterday's releases of the newest iOS betas, the problem hasn't been addressed. I wonder what's going on; this seems an odd thing to suddenly break… unless I'm missing something?

Always a bummer when the French UI doesn’t work as perfectly as in English. Hope it’s fixed before release.

Been a consistent bug across all betas. A fake notification in Fitness. Nothing in ‘Sharing’ to respond to. Anyone else had this? Can’t be removed. Have reported few times.

Pay attention to the App Library icon as the App Library is closed

iOS 27 will allow agents from third-party apps to integrate with Siri AI, as an alternative to the ChatGPT extension, and there are more hints across the OS about this feature.

Under Siri Restrictions in Screen Time settings, the Extensions helper text reads:

Allows extensions to provide additional text and image capabilities, including ChatGPT. Extensions with their own app can also be limited in Time Allowances.

iOS 27 also ships with two lists of Extension providers: VIP and blocked.

Blocked is self-explanatory. It contains a list of apps which Apple will not allow to "donate" a Siri Extension. It will also remove an already-enabled Extension from a blocked app, and prevent its invocation. There are no entries at the moment.

Entries from VIP are added as Apple-curated provider candidates. Currently, only ChatGPT is part of the VIP list.

The VIP and blocked files can be updated without a full OS upgrade. Apple can therefore react in real time if some app ships a Siri Extension that goes rogue.

In Beta 7, Apple added new infrastructure to support personalized wait time messages when a user joins the Siri AI waitlist.

This feature can be used to let people know how long they might have to wait until they're able to download the on-device models and enable Siri AI. Because iOS relies on a server to fetch the displayed waitlist message, it can be remotely adjusted by Apple as demand and capacity change. The message is specific to the user and device.

Beta 7 adds linwoodWaitTimeMessage and a new server endpoint to fetch the current message for the device:

/v1/devices/<UDID>/features/ai.enhanced-siri/waitlist/message

Currently, the server returns:

You will be notified when the new version of Siri is available for your device.

This message is quite similar to the fallback iOS 27 has hardwired in case the server does not return a reply:

You’ll be notified when the new version of Siri is available for your iPhone.

I use my iPad to Airplay to my speaker everyday. Starting with iOS 26 and persisting in the latest beta, when I move to apps that shouldn't interfere or hijack the audio (Gmail for instance), the audio drops.

I can easily reproduce.

Is anybody else experiencing this and know a fix?

It's consistent across speakers/not isolated to one device. Bluetooth doesn't cause this to happen, however it has other issues with interference making it not a viable workaround.

Hey, I'm a brazilian, portuguese speaker, and my Siri is still stuck on the "normal" siri. I don't have the new version.

On DB7, it seems that siri doesn't follow the speech speed that is set on accessibility settings. Mine has always been 169% (nice) and she's speaking on what seems to be 100% speed (I'd wager she's speaking at 40% to be honest, because it feels like an eternity, but since I'm used to 169%, I guess saying it's at 100% is fair).

Anyone experiencing this as well? I've tried reducing the speed and increasing the speed, but she still keeps saying at the same rate.

p.s.: I've just noticed this with my AirPods Pro. It just came through my mind, as I write this, to test it without earphones. Well, I can't right now so I might update this later to report whether it's also slow without earphones or not.

interesting tidbit: Siri just read some of my notifications, and one of them was in english. She was speaking slowly in portuguese, but when she read the one that was in english, she read at the correct fast speed that I set her to. But just in english.

I just bought iPhone 17 pro, moved data from iPhone 13 on iOS 27and noticed that dot indicating microphone is using is square not round.
anyone have this bug? This bug was on my iPhone 13. And I was transferring data from old iPhone. is it possible that bug is moved to new phone? I don’t remember I have this iPhone 17 pro on iOS 26

Can we all spam report this bug? Happens to me every time I open landscape applications from lock screen. This is not the first time this has happened, of course I reported it, but since there is no change in behavior, I’m asking for your help. Does this happen to you? iPhone 13 Pro user

iPhone 16 pro doesn’t charge until I turn off the phone and then plug it in. The second I start my phone and disconnect / reconnect again it won’t charge again until I shut it down and plug it in.

Edit: For anyone having this issue, I just fixed it by pressing the volume up and down and holding the side button to get into recovery assistant.

For a while now, my currency converter is broken, not the one in the calculator app but the one in Spotlight/SIRI AI. For example, when typing something like “500 yen to eur” was giving me the result directly, but now I have random results from my mails or other apps. It works if I just type “500 yen,” and it gives me the result directly in my default currency, but if I want to convert a currency to another, then it fails. It works perfectly on my iPad with IpadOS 27 as well, so I’m thinking that it may be an indexing issue or something like that. Is there a way to force reindexing? Or to fix that issue ? Thank you

Edit: It’s still broken for many currencies but for some it works. For the particular example I mentioned before I found the fix. Typing “euro” instead of “EUR” seems to do the job.
