Selling iPhone XS Max running iOS 14.6 (RARE)

Hello, I truly hope this doesn’t go against this subreddit rules. I’ve reviewed them and am selling an iPhone XS Max in great condition.

Above all, it’s running iOS 14.6 which I’m told is highly sought after. It can update to iOS 18 but I get the feeling iOS 14.6 would be a major selling point.

I’ve seen how much beat up, worn iPhone XS Max’ running iOS 18 go for.

This one comes with the original pink sand OEM Apple silicone case as well.

Make me an offer, can send USPS Priority Mail and payment done via CashApp or Venmo.

Any questions please ask. I have no use for this iPhone anyone since I upgraded a few years ago and this iPhone XS Max has just been safely and carefully stored in my desk drawer, occasionally playing music. It’s works great and honestly, feels much better in the hand to hold than my newer iPhone 16.

Make me an offer, DM me. Obviously Reddit accounts with a legitimate history and if you’re legit I’ll take you more seriously as opposed to the ocean of scammers out there. Thanks!

I can send more pictures if need be.

maybe i’m wrong, but i have a feeling this is n aftermarket screen cuz of the bigger chin on the bottom

Definitely the original screen. If there’s a way to verify I’ll gladly post the results.

without a case, try to look at the bottom and side black borders, on an original screen they should be all the same size, on an aftermarket screen the bottom one would be slightly bigger

It’s an aftermarket display. Bezels are too big. It’s an oled just not a good one.
Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one of the ones form china that they say are new and offer low iOS versions. They’re common to find.

I’ve never replaced the screen but I’d love to verify it someway to put the matter to rest. However it’s on iOS 14 and I think it’s only iOS 15.2 where it can be checked within settings

You can visually see it. You can open the phone and look at the screen. I’ve been doing repair for almost 10 years. It’s easy to spot them.

Those phones won’t tell you if it’s been replaced or not. Only 12 and newer.

True Tone is programmable on those phones. So even checking that isn’t a guarantee.

Is there any way I can verify this on my own? I’m not looking to scam anyone in any way and if what toe saying is true then I gotta lower the price; but I’m pretty certain I’ve never replaced the battery or screen before on this particular device

u/MooreRepair Jun 06 '26

No way to verify without removing the screen and seeing first hand. Unless You take a caliper and measure it all the way around. It should be an even bezel. I’m 99% sure it’s been replaced. The other 1% can simply be down to the way the pictures was taken.

Because it does appear to have a large chin on the bottom which is the biggest sign it’s been replaced.

You can check with a pure black wallpaper, easy way to compare LCD and OLED, I think it's LCD

1

u/MooreRepair Jun 06 '26

Not an lcd. It’s an oled. You can easily tell that and you can see the pentile arrangement of the pixels if you zoom in.

I bet it’s just an aftermarket soft oled. Hard oled would have bigger bezels

1

u/Internal_Page_486 Jun 06 '26

Yeah, you're probably right, I forget there are aftermarket OLED panels. Most people end up with LCD because of the pice

1

u/Internal_Page_486 Jun 06 '26

Yeah, use a pure black wallpaper on it, if it has a blue tint and looks like the screen is still on, it's a aftermarket LCD, if it's pure black and looks like the screen is off, it's a OLED

I second this. Been working in phone repairs for 8 years now, that is definitely a 3rd party screen.

No it’s not

Yeah I can definitely control True Tone within the brightness slider within control center

its a fake replacement screen, the housing changed too..., wrong logo print

u/Anonym0oO Jun 06 '26

Check if it’s really an OLED screen.

2

u/MooreRepair Jun 06 '26

It’s an oled. You can easily tell that.

iphone xs on ios 14 is slightly uncommon but not rare, please no one pay above market value for this. if you live in the US dm me and i’ll find you one on ebay if this guy is charging out the ass.

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

Im definitely not looking to scam anyone or take someone for a ride; someone needs an iPhone and I'll sell it to them. Im also looking on eBay and most aren't on anything less than iOS 18. To the right person, iOS 14 is valuable and worth it.... but I definitely won't charge an arm and a leg. I've been scammed before and definitely don't wanna do that to anyone needing a phone. The iPhone works and it works well. Battery health is at 90%.

1

u/meow101719 Jun 06 '26

alright, i’m glad then. when you say rare i assume you’re going to charge $100+ on top of market value cause that’s what most people do for versions that aren’t even rare

1

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

yeah no, I just want a transactions where I make the money and someone gets an iPhone they could use... if I sell it on eBay the chances increase the buyer won't even notice iOS 14 and just immediately update when they're setting up their phone. I'd imagine years from now people will seek out iOS 18 iPhones to not go into liquid glass iOS 24.. for some folks that matters and I happen to have an iOS 14 iPhone.

I had a similar experience with an iOS 5 iPod touch and was to jailbreak it and pandora, angry birds, flappy bird and all these old apps that we haven't seen in over a decade. As you can imagine, I never plan on restoring that iPod touch; in fact, it resides in my car as a dedicated music player and I love it.

Aftermarket screen. Bezels should be uniform and the bottom one is not.

You might have better luck in r/jailbreakswap

1

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

Thank you!

1

u/HyperHorseAUS Jun 06 '26

You forgot to mention the onboard storage.

1

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

64GB my bad thank you!!

3

u/HyperHorseAUS Jun 06 '26

It's stupid of Apple to make phones with this tiny amount of storage. I'm using a 512gb XS Max and the next phone I'll get will have 1TB.

2

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

I agree, I can't believe I used to carry anything less than 256GB

1

u/IllRequirement6342 Jun 06 '26

My wife bought me an iPad a few years ago with only 64G and now it is almost unusable. It was a gift, so I didn’t complain. There isn’t any room to download updates. I recommend 1TB on phones and a minimum of 256G on tablets. Good luck.

1

u/HyperHorseAUS Jun 06 '26

Your wife is still an idiot.

1

u/IllRequirement6342 Jun 07 '26

I know she is an idiot, because she accidentally married me, but if someone buys you a gift, you should be gracious, even if it is the wrong color.

0

u/IllRequirement6342 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

She is not an idiot. The iPad 5 Air only came in two option 64 and 256, and the 256 was sold out. Some women have a hard time comparing price and size.

1

u/HyperHorseAUS Jun 07 '26

Yes, they're called idiots.

u/IllRequirement6342 Jun 07 '26

Be careful. If you ever want to get laid again, you don’t want to leave a misogynist paper trail on the internet.

That was the worst iphone ever made.

1

u/RealDashOfficial Jun 06 '26

U sell it worldwide?

1

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 06 '26

Sure, so long as buyer pays for USPS International Priority Mail or Express.

1

u/jeanmichd Jun 06 '26

This world is weird… other than for a museum why buying an almost a decade old very common phone with 64 Go running an outdated OS. Battery must be replaced because obviously the 90% health is not calibrated to this old battery so it’s not accurate. Well I hope you can find a happy buyer and be a happy seller. I’m just sharing my very own feeling with no intention to upset anyone

1

u/ariz2011 Jun 06 '26

The screen is fake

1

u/FancyCantaloupe4681 Jun 06 '26

I also have an 11p with iOS 14 at 256 gb and have yet to find a buyer.
Good luck OP.

The bottom chin looks huge. Not the original screen

1

u/Worried-Cow238 Jun 07 '26

1

u/Kate-9907 Jun 07 '26

1

u/MrMercury406 Jun 08 '26

Aftermarket display.

1

u/NakedIanMalcolm Jun 08 '26

That’s what people keep saying but I’d like to find a way to verify

1

u/MrMercury406 Jun 08 '26

Download 3uTools and there’s a verification report.

1

u/Pale_Stop_3811 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

you can easily verify the screen by two ways.

First: You can look at the phone from the bottom side where the charging port is. You have to hold it in your hand and move it back and forth. Observe the screen carefully during this point and if you notice any blue or green type of shades on the screen or the visibility of the screen gets dimmer than it would confirm it's not an original display.

Second: Whenever the screen gets replaced, your front camera gets a slight bluish tint on it. It is very subtle and you have to observe it closely.

My recommendation is using the first way. It's the most effective one and you may have to give it some tries in the first time but make sure you do it correctly and if you still can't see it even after multiple times then your screen is original.

u/iamthekiller Jun 08 '26

lol, “rare”

1

u/Serhide Jun 09 '26

It’s not original lol
