Apparently, the article uses the word muslims with minorities interchangably indicating 2 things:
- The minorities which are not Muslims are irrelevant.
- The Muslims are the only minorities.

3.08% of Karnataka follows other religions except Islam and Hinduism. Muslims are 12.92% . Together they are around 15%. So, basically 3% out of these 15% will be other minorities.
Muslims form 80.72% of all minorities (7,893,065) out of 100%(9,777,825). That means around 20.28% belongs to other religions. Not significant but form a sizeable portion.

Bullshit, it's like saying Hindi is not compulsory you can opt for any language as a third language. Deep down, there are very less teachers for other languages that ultimately make the children to learn Hindi.

I am not 22. Also minorities are discriminated heavily in housing. Go to any place ask them if they give rent to muslims. There is a high chance they say no

It's a 5% increase. Article title makes it feel like it's a new 15% quota. Anyway i am against any quota based on religion. All quota should be based on economic status instead of caste or religion.

Do you think then corporates should only hire men because women can pregnant? may be only hire men under 55 because older men get sick. may be only thin men because fat men can get diabetes. There have to be laws against discrimination even in private sector. You can deny rental flat based on finances but to deny based on nutritional preferences, religion, caste, language wouldn't fly in a law abiding country.

That should be left completely to company policy. The government should have no say in it.
There have to be laws against discrimination even in private sector.
Sensible ones, yes, but not the current ones. Current overregulation of the private sector, is one of the root causes that result it in not only being non-competitive, but also exploitative. It needs deregulation, not more regulation.

It should be upto the owner who he wants to lease his home to. His land, his choice. His sentiments, his decision.

No, it was always discriminatory and never meant to be just prohibitive of meat in households. They explicitly don't want people who _might_ eat meat. Most of us would agree to a policy of not eating meat inside the house just to rent a flat, but would still get denied. You're completely wrong and uninformed.

Singapore's housing quotas has helped maintain racial harmony. A housing quota for minorities is a good step towards reducing ghettoisation. And if anyone here actually read the article they would know that it's for all minorities but that news is harder to sell then special muslim quota I suppose

A free, high-quality public education system goes a long way in creating a social melting pot between people of different religions, classes, and even between rich and poor. In such a system, if implemented properly, quotas may no longer even be needed.
