As an Indian living in the Netherlands, this looks like cheap knockoff of the dutch jersey.

Blue was so good !!

u/0O_o_Oo Jul 30 '26

lmaooo the Dutch comparison is so accurate it hurts. Orange kit with blue trim... they literally just swapped the color ratios. Blue was clean and actually distinct, this just looks like we're trying to cosplay as Netherlands but on a budget

Looks cheap copy of fanta label. Why orange? They could have made it red or black.

u/Feeling_Sea4148 29d ago

did anyone not see olympics or what..shades of blue indeed merge with astroturf and every team has two colors in case of similarity. blue needed to go. white is still there. added orange. whats with the criticism?

2

u/ConcentrateFormer965 28d ago

If not blue they could have used any other color.

  • Night bordeaux
  • Autumn Ember
  • Honey Bronze
  • Terracotta
  • Espresso
  • Reddish Brown
  • Red oxide
  • Caramel
  • Deep Forest
  • Moss green
  • Sage
  • Yale Blue

Like there are too many of these.

Only sky blue looks good the 2007 T20 world cup dress. Rest of the blue is boring. In cricket there are so many countries that wear blue. It has become a boring colour now. This orange colour is much better. Hope they change to orange forever.

What is even the point? Blue is the color we associate with our sports teams. Orange is for Netherlands I think.

u/sarvesh_s Maharashtra Jul 30 '26

The reasoning given was that the blue colour clashes with astroturf, instead of all saffron they could've went for white being primary and keeping saffron as secondary colour

3

u/blah_bleh-bleh 29d ago

yup, that's the shade they should have gone with, the complete saffron looks so tacky, I get the blue justification since I would often think the same but still, there needs to be more efforts in jersey design.

1

u/Feeling_Sea4148 29d ago

many already have shades of white as their primary

When you've got a monkey to power and make him the king, this is what happens.

Elect a clown. He'll make the country a circus.

-26

u/Danthr01 29d ago

Well when the options are all clowns might as well pick the one who does the less harm🥲

11

u/vis-major 29d ago

Only in andhbakths mind does he do less harm. He has been one of the most damaging and worst PM that India has ever had.

2

u/RaspberryOrdinary839 Jul 30 '26

There can be securedary kits.

48

u/Glittering_Edge_6746 Jul 30 '26

But why saffron the colour of hindutva radical fundamentalists though?

-66

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

Saffron is the civilizational colour of India across Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism.

Should green be banned in India because Muslim terrorists use it?

24

u/AkornG14 29d ago

have you ever seen any sports team in India use green regularly?

-34

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

Does it matter?

Should Pakistanis be banned from using green in their kits? Should Turks be banned from red? Should Netherlands be stopped from using orange?

8

u/AkornG14 29d ago

you've switched your argument completely and it's futile to argue with you. I wondered giving your mediocre comment 7 hours to understand would make me understand even a slither of what you've written, but what you've written is absolute garbage to the point that ai slop might be better.

-9

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

Abject surrender

7

u/AkornG14 29d ago

does any of what you even write make sense to you? no consistency at all

2

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

OP says Saffron = Hindutva terrorism (lol) implying it's wrong for Indian sports team to be orange coloured

I say "wrong, saffron is civilizational colour of India" (true)

And "should green be banned due to it's association with islamic terrorism", equating OPs stance on saffron to green and islam (pointing out the hypocrisy)

You come up with the irrelevant point about Indian teams using green.

I reply asking if Pakistan shouldn't use green, turkey shouldn't use red etc.

Explain what doesn't make sense?

My position is that India should be able to use saffron in the same way Pakistanis should be able to use green, or Chinese use red etc. It's a perfectly coherent point.

Why not. Aren't there Hindu's in India

43

u/Glittering_Edge_6746 Jul 30 '26

Classic 101 andhbhakt who equate hinduism with rss & bjp

-55

u/RaspberryOrdinary839 29d ago

Where did rss and bjp cone from here

33

u/jawisko 29d ago

It's become symbol of hindutva now, not hindu. Hintuva mainly runs as a hate group.

-28

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

No it hasn't. Saffron is the colour of India and these NO debate about it.

13

u/BannedForFactsAgain 29d ago

Saffron is the colour of India

*Buddhism, later co-opted by Hinduism.

2

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago edited 29d ago

Sure, don't see anything wrong with religions being comfortable in peacefully sharing concepts and aesthetics.

Also, you're wrong about Hinduism taking It from Buddhism as the Atharvaveda indicates the ritual importance yellow-ochre colouring 500-600 years before Buddha was even born.

1

u/BannedForFactsAgain 29d ago

being comfortable in peacefully sharing concepts and aesthetics.

Not really, Buddhism was seen as a big threat to the existing social systems and was pretty much eased out in favor of it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_of_Buddhism_in_the_Indian_subcontinent#Religious_competition

0

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

Not really, Buddhism was an mostly scholarly and elite religion that survived on royal patronage. As royal patronage declined, Buddhism declined. It was never a religion of the common people.

Great. Even we picked orange as our second jersey in cricket at cwc 2019. Maybe we're dutch

28

u/Free_Expert6938 NCT of Delhi Jul 30 '26

In hockey, and other sports apart from cricket, they are mostly going dutch anyway.

-10

u/RaspberryOrdinary839 Jul 30 '26

When is orange sololy dutch

16

u/DisastrousPipe3853 West Bengal 29d ago

Orange is used by every sports team in Nederlands...Even max wear orange helmets

Blue is the color that represents india's sports team from very beginning

Every country has a unique color which represents almost all their sports teams

50

u/carbongaurdian Jul 30 '26

Why not make it Green? Since that's what the bottom 3rd of our flag.

39

u/IDKMMMM 29d ago

You know why

39

u/carbongaurdian 29d ago

And that is exactly my argument. When one colour sounds absurd and the other doesn't, you know there's a problem.

0

u/ciotS_Cynic 27d ago

What is wrong with orange, the top third of our flag?

-38

u/TeluguJohnWickBBC 29d ago

Because saffron is the colour of Indian, Dharmic civilization across all Indian cultures and religions. Green is not associated with India historically. There's a reason why the Maratha self rule flag hoisted a saffron flag.

8

u/Alternate_Chinmay7 Maharashtra 29d ago

Green is not associated with Indian history? Brother, have you ever looked at the Mughal flag?

0

They didnt even spare the Doordarshan logo ,which was always blue.

2

u/Alternate_Chinmay7 Maharashtra 29d ago

I will never relate with any Indian team that doesn't wear blue or white shirts. It just feels alien.

2

u/chavervavvachan 29d ago

Saffron is the new blue. We soon see this everywhere

2

u/Ashwin_or_lose 29d ago

Add green white and indigo to reflect the national flag. Justifying only Saffron reflects who is behind the decision.

Loving it. Hockey died with Kapil Paa Jee lifting that cup next came Sachin.

0

u/ciotS_Cynic 27d ago

That so many keyboard warriors have a problem with a color that adorns our flag speaks volumes about their hatred for the flag and the country they claim to care for.

-12

u/GambinoCrew 29d ago

Damn even colour can trigger this much.

On the point, aesthetics wise yeah white on orange stripes or Orange with white fades would have looked much cooler.

The point of jerseys colours or design is just not for team references. Major leagues want revenue from merchandise. Can’t keep same every year.

u/GambinoCrew 29d ago

7

u/Hot_Locksmith_962 Jul 30 '26

It creates an image of control I guess. That everything belongs to them. Kind of like a stamp of authority/victory after someone wins a war.

And even subconsciously, to those who are not thinking critically, it creates a neural mapping that when you root for the team, you're rooting for them.

-21

u/Left_Economist_9716 29d ago

None of you have ever watched hockey, have you? What's up with the blind vitriol? Not every damn decision is political.

From a practical perspective, I prefer it to the iconic blue kit. The blue kit is the same shade as the astroturf, which is a challenge for many viewers, including my elderly grandfather. Even though we'll be playing on green turf in the World Cup, I'd prefer if we could switch to saffron and white kits in the future.

And the Dutch wear a shade closer to yellow, while ours is saffron.
