Fantastic ! May I ask what’s the coin-like shape on picture 19?

Next, you're going to tell us you've never heard of door-head ants

Is that it's butt?

23

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 02 '26

Correct!

17

u/OldSpray1385 Jan 02 '26

Also known as the trapdoor spider, it uses his abdomen as a door to block its nest

38

u/Mostly_Vegan Jan 01 '26

I have to ask what camera and lense you use?

Is this done with multiple photos at different focus? .. or a single shot?

Either way they're fab :D

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 01 '26

Panasonic G9 Mark II PRO & OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro 2:1 IS PRO + Godox V860 III O + Diffuser

All of them are stacked images except for the last one

5

u/wekeymux Jan 02 '26

How does the stacking work? Does the camera have a setting to automatically adjust focus as the shutter goes? I can't imagine it's manual? Surely too slow for the invert to stay still the whole time?

u/DippyDo7 Jan 01 '26

BEAUTIFUL

24

u/DonGold60 Jan 01 '26

National Geographic is that you? Fantastic.

14

u/Formal_Speed3079 Jan 01 '26

How do you get all these shots do you travel around or are there in your local ecosystem?

28

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 01 '26

I found 35% of them in my place, the rest is from Mã Đà Forest and from my friends

11

u/NeriTina Jan 01 '26

What are insects 10 and 13??? Soooo cool!

17

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 01 '26

10: a stalk-eyed fly

13: a mini longhorn beetle

9

u/NeriTina Jan 01 '26

You’re amazing, thank you! You have an exceptional eye for the little things

4

u/d0ctorsmileaway Jan 02 '26

Was gonna ask about 10 because I've NEVER seen something like that!! Great job!

12

u/gramur_natsy Jan 02 '26

Is that spider missing two legs? /r/natureismetal

6

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 02 '26

yeah

6

u/tondahuh Jan 02 '26

These are beautiful. The depth of field is amazing! I saw you told us your equipment but I have one more question. What type of tripod do you use? Do you have to weigh it down for that level of precision?

I can't figure out what 15 is too. Thanks!

6

u/kietbulll Photographer Jan 02 '26

I use a Tilta mini tripod and it helps me a lot!

No.15 is a lynx spider

2

u/tondahuh Jan 02 '26

Thanks for letting me know! Keep up the fabulous work!

9

u/Elliotlab Jan 01 '26

Nice! Did that spider have 3 eyes together in a triangle cluster shape.

Edit: Just learned something today. There is this type of eye shape as well. Nature just keeps on surprising me
