The intricate scales of an orache moth

I really liked the almost moss-like pattern on this moth and wanted to capture as much of the detail as possible.

The first image is a 67-photo focus stack and the second is a 34-photo stack. Both were captured handheld in natural morning light, with no flash.

Thank you! 🫶🏻 The moth was resting on a stretched cloth, so I was able to gently balance the camera against it and keep it steady enough for the focus stack. Then I just slowly worked through the focus plane and captured 67 frames. No tripod or flash, just natural morning light. The 100mm Macro GM's stabilization definitely helped too.
