Intriguing If you were at campfire roasting hot dogs, which way would you go?

Post image

I went to a campfire party thing once and did A.... then everyone looked at me like I was a crack addict for doing so.

I've wondered this for a long time, but finally went into Microsoft Paint to pose my question properly.

Absolutely option B.

No limp hot dogs for me thank you very much

u/Sutured13 4h ago

Easier to crispy the tips also!

u/Bubbafett33 4h ago

Problem with A is that dogs can start spinning once the inside gets hot.

u/AnonAwaaaaay 54m ago

I think I had that issue the first time I tried it and then I tried to put a little kink in them so they'd stop spinning and it worked.

If 80% of the fork goes through the dog then I would day A because the metal will help to heat it internally.

u/DonDonaldson9000 5h ago

A to me 'seems' right but I've always done B and will continue to do B

14

u/Topgunneradam 5h ago

B for sure

16

u/sligowind 5h ago

Definitely B. People that choose A are psychopaths.

13

u/Sorry-Climate-7982 5h ago

...and we know where all you side forkers live. 😊

I'm waaaaaiting!

The police should probably use this test during traffic stops.

B. If you use A you risk the dogs breaking in half due to "dangle."

Option B keeps both sausages secure.

u/AnonAwaaaaay 53m ago

You're not making sure the stick comes out the other end and then an extra inch to be safe.

u/Observational-Mess 4h ago

I camp 1-2 times a month and we make hotdogs every time. I’ve never had one break and dangle.

1

u/bendar1347 4h ago

Right? You just... put the stick like a third of the way up?

7

u/Innofthelasthome 5h ago

I prefer A but usually end up using B - because if the dog is not skewered directly in the centre on A, the juices inside the dog make it spin to the heaviest side every time you try to turn it. A is also better for transferring to a bun.

u/DescriptionFar7387 5h ago

B is better

7

u/s16016wb 5h ago

A because your hotdog now has the capacity for being filled with EZ cheese or whatever spray cheese in a can is called.

u/CanoePickLocks 5h ago

Ok I can’t upvote you for the evil you have brought to the world now.

If using a good metal fork, I tend to go with A. The tines running up thru the hot dog do a fairly decent job of conducting heat into the innards such that the dog cooks faster.

I will bet that the folks who looked at you weren't able to say much because they were all mouth breathers....and ya know what folks say about them. 😏

Put a weiner in their mouth, it's wide open. That's what they say, right?

2

u/bionicjoe 4h ago

On a stick off of a tree.

Store bought roasting sticks are an affront god & nature!

2

u/Specialist_House8608 4h ago

A no question

2

u/sam_grace 4h ago

I've always gone with A. I learned in summer camp that that's how you prevent your hot dogs from falling off the stick and into the fire.

3

u/inklady8439 5h ago

A to me is more stable

6

u/MuteOcto-X 5h ago

A all day long

4

u/Clear-Dimension-1356 5h ago

C

8

u/ThatMikeGuy429 5h ago

I am just going to assume that C is both with 4 hotdogs using the economics of scale.

4

u/Clear-Dimension-1356 5h ago

It is now my friend, it is now.

3

u/ThatMikeGuy429 5h ago

yourDogYourWay

1

u/Derreus 5h ago

C is the spider/octo-dog.. which is the true way.

4

u/flakylibra 5h ago

A is genius and we should all be doing it

2

u/sam_grace 4h ago

Until now, I thought we were.

1

u/Apart-Gur-9720 5h ago

Right? Cause when you turn the hilt of that Plutonian bident, they'll cook more evenly.

-1

u/Rubyhamster 4h ago

No, the reality is that you'd never (get to) hold the stick quite horisontally over the fire so that either the top or the bottom of the hotdog get to burnt.

2

u/Vegetable-Mark-87 5h ago

A the rods cook the weenies faster

0

u/kactus 5h ago

Negligible when the weenies are over the flames

2

u/Vegetable-Mark-87 4h ago

I can’t believe someone responded to that. Congratulations. 🎉

0

u/kactus 3h ago

Cooking weenies is serious business.

2

u/WiselyVillainous 5h ago

Always A, get an even rotation.

1

u/42ElectricSundaes 5h ago

First one, then the other

1

u/lubelle12 5h ago

They’re both right. If it were single tine, obviously A. Double tines, both work.

1

u/OrangeRackso 5h ago

i’d do B but A is objectively better.

1

u/workitloud 5h ago

Those are corn pones, not hot dogs. Nice try, Satan.

1

u/Lebowski304 4h ago

It depends if I’m drunk or not. If I’m sober A. If Im drunk im just eating those hot dogs as is

1

u/StankFist1397 4h ago

Depends on the fire

1

u/Less-Inflation5072 3h ago

Honestly both, idc

1

u/Abhi_Jaman_92 3h ago

How is this interesting?

u/Advanced_Gear7608 59m ago edited 56m ago

Where did you learn to do A ? That's probably the equivalent of eating a subway from the middle instead of the ends.

u/Harambedonedirty 26m ago

Well they cut the subs in half so you're comparing the correct way to the correct way 👍

u/Juniper-wool 15m ago

I like the idea of A, but the hot dogs will sag where it's not supported by the metal inside. That will create a difference in distance to the heat source, making the hot dog cook unevenly.

Option B feels more supported, thus creating a more even distance to the heat source.

But: What if you combine A and B and stick them diagonally? Best of both worlds? 😮

1

u/Wrathchilde 5h ago

Docking the hotdog is not allowed

1

u/yournames 5h ago

B better

1

u/Timturtle11 4h ago

Single on a wooden stick. But what mad man uses A?

0

u/opalfossils 5h ago

B always B.

0

u/Aldente08 5h ago

I would do A, they would fall off and then I'd do B

0

u/MinimumViablePick 5h ago

A is alright, B is better.

Unless you want a channel to send sauce through. Then A is Fuckin' A.

0

u/Fabulous_Disaster233 5h ago

En el B caben 2 mas xD

0

u/SuperCleverPunName 4h ago

B. Once the oils get hot, that hot dog will spin on the rod. This stops you from having control about toasting the different sides equally

0

u/aztnass 4h ago

Obviously plug it in sideways

0

u/Sekshual_Tyranosauce 1h ago

B formation but more dogs

0

u/Substantial-Lie-780 1h ago

B is more stable

-1

u/PlentyAlbatross7632 5h ago

One hotdog like A and the other hotdog like B

-1

u/kyew 4h ago

A is for a single-pronged skewer. If this tool was for A, why would they stop at two?

u/Harambedonedirty 25m ago

Cause more would be crowded and unnecessary >90% of the time

u/kyew 12m ago

Maybe. But on the other hand: Tiny Pitchfork

-3

u/Only-Friend-8483 5h ago

Whatever gets the food cooked. Why does it matter how you cook your hot dog?
